Let’s hear from you, the readers today. I’d like to know how many of you fall into the category of casual players who are just going to stumble upon level 60 and do SOME end-game content. How many of you are hard-core raiders who have done or are wanting to take down Onyxia, ZG, Majordomo, and hit AQ as soon as it opens on your server?
Inquiring minds (mind, actually) want(s) to know.
I consider myself casual, but then again, I do play about 5-6 hours a night. Been through all of Molten Core, ZG, and hopefully BWL and AQ soon.
Ok, that’s one for hard-core ๐
I was casual about it. My 60 Shaman is my 3rd seriously played character.
I play about 4-5 hours a night.
I played that much on my Hunter, and he wasn’t in a guild until level 42. (He’s only 47 on an RP server now.) I played that much on my Rogue on a PvP server who was in several guilds until stopping playing him at level 45.
I then moved to a new PvP server with some guildmates and have been in the same guild since. We merged a few times to accomplish larger and larger instances.
I never envisioned I’d be one of those hardcore types.
It took me 20 days played to reach 60. Some guildmates are saying it took them 11. (How much fun could that have been?)
But I’m now raiding MC (all of it on “farm status” except we haven’t gotten Ragnaros yet). Been there since the first day. We’re raiding ZG (and have just taken down Hakkar for the first time.) This weekend we’re going back to make a serious attempt at Onyxia. We aren’t hammering at the gates of AQ but when it opens I’m sure we’ll take a swing at those instances.
I know I’m a casual player because I keep playing numerous alts on another server. (High teen’s night elves and undead on an RP server again. I do this for the worry free questing with my wife.)
Last night we ran a level 5 Warlock and a level 5 Priest to get their ancestral coins and travel to Moonglade where, turning the quest in, we got 2 levels! (And some nice casual wear. In fact I have 5 characters with Lunar Festival wear. 2 on PvP servers, 3 on RP.)
And tonight it’s MC night again.
How about “Casual hardcore?”
I’m a hardcore player. In my opinion, most people, after hitting the cap, try to focus on end-game, even tho they don’t want to admit it. PvP Gear might be great, but it takes too much time to get it. The way I see it, as soon as the expansion hits the server, epics would probably be needed for the new areas, even Tier 2 stuff. Maybe more legendary items will drop by that time.
When I was playing (yeah, Im on a IRL break until summer… at least), I was pretty hardcore. Finished MC before BWL was out or something.
I am somewhere in the middle. I play way too much, but I really do not enjoy the 40-person content. When the time is right, I will go into MC, but I will always prefer small groups. Right now I am planning on bleeding every drop of enjoyment out of places like DM, Strat, or Scholo, and then move on to the 20 man content. Once I’m done there, then I will go kicking and screaming back into MC, but only after I milk everything else first.
I have an Orc 60 Hunter and a Tauren 60 Druid on Bladefist server EU and I consider myself pretty hardcore, my hunter has 6/8 giantstalker and 2/8 dragonstalker and some other random epics. My druid is my alt but i’m trying to gear him up, only have one epic so far (flayed doomguard belt from Lord Kazzak).
Farmed MC and ZG for some months now and we have cleared BWL up to nefarian, 88% on him on our best attempt so far.
I am also making a WoW blog for a schoolproject i am doing atm, maybe i’ll send you a link when it’s ready ๐
cheers
Casual player with unpredictable playing times, which won’t help when it comes to raiding etc…but hey I’m happy & a month break from the game has helped.
