A night for Lockr

February 3, 2006 By Gitr 2 Comments

Lockr got to come out and play last night. I was attempting to install Linux on my 1.2 GHz laptop to give WoW a try using Wine for the claimed performance improvement. After an hour of dinking while Lockr worked on tailoring and flew on grifs, I finally deduced that Disc 1 of Mandriva 2006 is not enough to connect to the Internet. I didn’t see the browser or any way to unpack the Wine download that I burned to a CD.

I took him down to SW and went to turn in a quest in Goldshire and ran over to the keep north of the bridge into Westfall. I got the Hogger and gnoll quest. Using his voidwalker to hit each target in a clump, Lockr cursed each target and proceeded to wand them to death. By the time he got to the next target, he was back at 100% and I was only down about 200 mana.

Hogger was simple. Let the voidwalker get aggro, curse Hogger, wand/Shadow Bolt, then using the Health Funnel to keep the voidwalker up until my Shadow Bolts would finish Hogger off. One thing is for sure, playing warlock is fast and cheap. No bandages, no health potions, and double or triple xp gain by taking on groups.

Next stop: Westfall. I might even try Duskwood at 16, depending on my gear.

Yeah, me playing a Hunter, I feel the exact same way. I almost felt bad that I had it so easy when soloing enemies. Hell, when my wife started playing, I started her on a Lock, but ended up having her play a Hunter, as it has more health, and there is a little more of a difficulty playing a Lock.

I didn’t know you had a wife. Hi, wife. You’ve got a very talented husband and brother-in-law.

Grimr didn’t have any trouble with Hunter until around 30 when he was trying to solo STV. Once I had Gitr way into the upper 40s and wanted to switch Grimr to Alchemy, he was bankrolled for some nice gear and is having an easier time in STV. There’s just something about having a personal tank… methinks.

I dropped Zapit because I just can’t play mage because there is no mana/health monkeying. I just couldn’t keep things away from me because the ice would always break free.

With Lockr, I’d get hit every time with my imp, but we’d take them down fast. Now, with the voidwalker, they never touch me and I can nuke the crap out of them, even at level 12.
