After several failed attempts to be able to invite a 5th person into our group, Priestr and Sideburns got to run Stockades last night. For some reason, it kept giving us errors that our group was full with only 4 people.
We decided to go in with 4 and someone on my friends list came online, so I told the leader to invite him. Instead, I became leader, to much glee between Side and me. Freedom to kick is great. What’s also great is not needing to kick. We didn’t have any ninjas, super-pullers, or over-nukers. We had 2 mages, a hunter, a warrior, and me. No deaths, or anything close to one. At the end of the left hall, everyone but me got feared, but I had planned ahead this time and warded everyone. That was the one and only reason I picked dwarf for priest, and maybe the main reason I wanted to make a priest. I’m so sick and tired of getting feared into things. I’ve only seen a handful of dwarf priests in my days in-game, and I can’t figure out why.
Priestr dinged 26, got Holy Fire, tons of gold playing the AH, and finished the Defias questline that ends with Lady Prestor…ahem…Onyxia. I think there are just a couple more quests in the Sven questline in Duskwood. I need to go to the inn in Goldshire, one other place, and then go after the man himself north of Darkshire. I’ll probably need help, though, because I seem to remember him being a 30 or 31.
I’ve got the kill quests in Duskwood now, and will take great joy following up Monday’s wolf killing with pygmy spider killing. My gf should join in on that fun. Besides, we can sell the spider’s silk from Duskwood for 75s-1g each.
I did some last-minute shopping last night to make Sideburns some clothes. Most everything I wanted to make him included leather or pearls and such, so I only got around to one Lesser Wizard’s Robe, which has Frost spell stats. I figure the better equipped he is, the better I’ll survive when we go questing together.
Time to go think about those spiders some more.
Glad to hear it. I am still level 19. Been playing my warlock in BGs every waking moment. Maybe I will take a break late tonight and play my warrior. Anyway, I have been able to figure out the AH stuff. Basically, I don’t know what items I should be buying to sell higher. I guess I have never taken the time to figure it out. Any tips?
Download Auctioneer. Now, I went looking for it last night for my laptop, but it wasn’t the latest version. What I think happened is the creator stopped updating it and someone else took control of it and added great features.
I will try to remember to put up a link to it in .zip format tonight from my desktop for you to get going.
Until you are sure about something’s great deal or what it says the ‘HSP’ (highest selling price) is, best to stick to what you know. For example, if you see a stack of rugged leather for 20s, buy it.
Auctioneer 101:
When you get in-game, type:
/auctioneer load always
/enchantrix load always
Enchantrix allows you to determine whether the shards from an item are worth more than the item, which is especially valuable at low levels, and at the highest levels when you might get an 11g shard off a 4g sword.
In the auction window, use the checkboxes next to the categories to scan and hit the ‘scan’ button. If you might get interrupted, choose one category at a time.
When a scan is complete, type:
/auctioneer percentless
followed by a space and a number 1-100. That number represents how much of a percentage under the HSP something is listed for. I do a search for 50, and then 33. Scroll up the list in the chat window and do a browse for that item. Be quick, because others are doing the same thing. It might not be there when you do your search. If you do a scan and wait 5 minutes, you might as well do another scan.
On Monday nights or VERY early Tuesday, I do a scan and type:
/auctioneer bidbuy
followed by a number. The number represents the profit in silver that an item is from the current bid price to the HSP. So, if you bid on a short auction before the servers go down for maintenance, you get it at bid price instead of the buy it now price.
Early on, scan memory can be heavily influenced by recent fluctionations like an idiot buying a copper tube for 5g. Auctioneer will think copper tubes are valuable, so when one appears for 40s, it’s a great deal, when even that is a bit high on my server.
Weapons sell very well, because nothing directly affects your ability to kill like a weapon. Trade goods and consumables are good if you know the trends and the current market. Mongoose potions, healing and mana pots, etc. are the standards to look at. More money can be made with obscure, valuable pots and elixirs, but you have to be careful about the market and if they are really used. Recipes are great if you do the research to find out how easy they are to come by. Don’t buy one to resell if you can just go to a trainer for it or if it’s a quest reward for something easy like murloc fin soup. Reagents like shards and essences are GREAT because there’s no deposit required. You keep it all initially, but the AH still takes a cut at the end.
Hope that helps you, and not too many more ๐
