I found two interesting sites today in my travels online. The first one was a complete surprise and took me a while to figure out what it was. Netvibes is a personalized page service that puts the hottest web content onto one page, including news feeds and blog feeds. I’m going to have to put some time in this week to get all of my wanderings centralized there, but I think it will be great.
The second site is kind of a re-discovery. I have had it up for quite a while in my links list, but I haven’t been bored enough to click ALL of my links until today. Problogger is a site by Darren Rowse that helps bloggers make a living from blogging. Pretty much everything is there. There were days after I found this site the first time that I thought about playing so much WoW that I could blog in the morning and play WoW all day, and thus becoming a professional gamer. Isn’t that what we all want in our deep-down childish, self-centered, lazy parts of our minds?
Sure, I could do great things at work and become a respected technical editor. I’d be contributing to the Company, my family, and the marketplace by turning out a great product that is used to train those who serve and protect us. But no one would know that I was the last person to approve that manual going out the door to that $13 Million piece of equipment. On the other hand, as Gitr, I am sitting at the #2 spot in Google searches for ‘wow blog.’ Despite all of that visibility, no one knows about me, the person. Hmmm. Does that matter? Heck no. I’m going for the #1 anonymous place.
