Ding! 40!!

November 24, 2006 By Gitr 10 Comments

At 2:17pm EST, Deadr hit 40 in STV turing in the Raptor Mastery quest for the Jungle Stalkers. He is hearthing to train, get a horse, and then going to SM Cathedral again!

w00t!!

Edit:

What happened all day to get to 40? How did I do it?

I started out downright depressed Friday morning. I finally figured out why on Sunday evening, but at the time, I had no idea why I would be depressed to get to play WoW ALL DAY LONG. I did my auction stuff and got up to 276g in my bags. First stop: Jungle Stalkers in STV. They are all 40 and 41s, skinnable, and dropping the Jungle Stalker Feathers I needed for a quest.

About 30 minutes into it, I got a whisper from a 39 warrior about joining a group into SM Armory. I told him I was just grinding/questing to get to 40. He said I’d level faster doing an instance. I wasn’t sure about that, but I said that if he had the group ready and could summon, I’d come. I hearthed to the bank to get my healing gear on and was summoned away to an adventure.

I’m fairly certain that I’ve only done the Armory once with Gitr. I’ve done the Library several times and the Graveyard twice, and the Cathedral…never. We started along, as a group with a warrior, mage, warlock, and shaman. Someone was a low 36, but I don’t remember who it was. Things were fine and I was getting into the rythym of casting renews, flash heals, and finally getting to use Fade. I had plenty of opportunity later on to wand things, too. I ended that segment at 14% of the damage, right behind the shaman at 17%, and had 97% of the healing. The only time things got hairy was when the warrior used Challenging Shout in a hallway and had 4 mobs hitting him. I used 6 Heals on him. I discovered that I got Greater Heal at 40, so they were regular heals for about 900HP each. He really took a licking, but kept on ticking. No one died the whole instance.

Herod dropped the leggings that the warrior wanted and said that he’d love the chest. It was the last piece in his Scarlet set, and it was on the AH for 40g, but he was too poor to get it. I waited until we got to the hallway outside the instance as we were waiting for the mage to repair to give him 40g. He was so excited, he ran out of the instance to run to Undercity to buy it. I hearthed to play the AH, and saw him running in, and watched him buy it, get the mail, and equip it. Then I tapped him on the shoulder and /waved. He was so excited.

We went back to give it a go for the Cathedral. Things went fine there, until the attempts on Scarlet Commander Mograine. We were just too low level to take care of business.

I am seriously considering re-speccing for Holy already. I’m not sure that it will affect my soloing too terribly, but I really could use a more powerful Renew, less Threat from healing, and some bonus crits along the way. I’ve already got awesome gear that boosts Healing or Magical Spells, so they still affect the damage from my Shadow spells while soloing.

Thanks, all. It was a fun day, and I’m enjoying my horse a lot. I keep forgetting to ride around UC and Org with it, though. ๐Ÿ™‚ Off I go a-running like usual, and then I remember when I get pretty close.

Grats on 40 man. I would stay Shadow though. You will probably be soloing well into your late 50’s. Its extremely hard to level as a Holy priest ๐Ÿ™‚ Although, if you are up for the challenge, go for it.

Extremely hard? Not gonna do it, then. I’ll bring mana pots to instances that Korgg makes for me, then. ๐Ÿ˜› No worries paying for them, right? LOL!

Grats on 40 man. I fully intended on getting my hunter to 40 last night, but just couldn’t do it. I flew to three different zones looking for quests ,as at this point I abhor STV. I finally gave up and went to bed at 25% into 39.

I know your pain on STV. You just can’t do it at night, unless you REALLY stay off the beaten path.

Here is how Gitr did it on a PvE server:

    40, at last!
