Beat a Rogue, SUURRRRE!!!

December 11, 2006 By Gitr 5 Comments

So, here is what I’m told:

Remark from Christine | [December 4, 2006, 12:59 pm]
The way to beat a rogue is to fear and dot them. And bubble and heal and you will widdle them down. As a rogue, I hate that farking bubble. I also cannot take a priest level for level who is specโ€™d to shadow.

That is all fine and good, but rogues don’t play fair! I found a 38 gnome rogue in Badlands going after a buzzard I wanted. So I waited until the buzzard and rogue were both at 50% and killed the rogue. Then I started to work on the buzzard, knowing that I had about 2 minutes to clear out of the area. Next thing I know, I’m under attack again. Badly. I Feared, he shook it off, then stunned me and ripped me apart. There was no way he was like-level.

So I come back, and see him sitting, eating. I snuck behind a boulder to rez, got my mana up and bubbled as he was going for another kill on another buzzard. Next thing I know, I’m getting ambushed again. No WAY!! He’s on the other side of the friggin’ boulder. I fear him and run and see what has been going on: there were two of them. TWO gnome rogues. BAH!

As a rogue I feel pretty confident taking on anything short of plate, provided I get the drop on them. However, if I’m surprised it’s a different story. 1 on 1 with a rogue is all about the opener, if you can get your stun-lock working right you should be fine, if not, vanish and try again…

Rouges or rogues, can be the bane of any caster. Sometimes I have Whiffle use Catseye Elixir potion just to give an added help to Stealth detection.

It has it’s uses at times.

Safe travels, my Undead friend ๐Ÿ™‚

I really killed the first one good the first time. I really caught him off-guard, put Vampiric Embrace, Shadow Word: Pain, and Curse of Corruption on him, then a Mind Blast, and it was just a few wandings before he fell. I was sure I saw the honor mark float away, and the next thing, BAM, I’m getting ambushed.

ROFL! That would be two CLEVER gnome rogues. I tip my hat.

Agreed. They did pwn me pretty good as a team, but I got one of them first. ๐Ÿ™‚

I took screenshots of the combat text a bit late and missed my first kill. I got my first death onward and ran out of time to crop them. If anyone is interested, let me know and I’ll append my post.
