I have decided that I will drop skinning and take up a crafting profession. I am interested in several, but I just can’t decide. I have enough money to get going on them. Please help!
- Engineering: I have never done this past 120 or so. I have seen some cool things, but are there any good priest items that I would benefit from that require Engineering to wear?
- Alchemy: Potions and Elixirs, DUH! (I’m not too concerned about it, though, because Aeigelus is an Alchemist)
- Enchanting: I would like some good enchants on my gear.
Enchanting is abysmally expensive to level. Engineering and Alchemy aren’t bad, but both kind of have the prerequisite that you take Mining or Herbalism to support yourself on it. It’s cheap to buy mats at the lower levels, but things get very expensive as you go higher. If you have either one of those, then engineering/alchemy might be good. I prefer Herbalism/Alchemy for my priest. If you have neither of those already, then I would suggest tailoring. There’s some pretty snazzy cloth items you can make for yourself at higher levels, not to mention some of the class-specific BoP items that you can tailor like the Truefaith Vestments.
Engineering: I have a 315 Gob Engineer. NIce for explosives and gadgets. But it costs a pretty penny. My only goal was te explosives and an Arcanite Dragonling(of which I rarely use) There are a few decent helms for Int but nothing real spectacular for use. The Gnome engineering has more gadgets for use but the whole profession is gimped by the lore of WOW. This proff will prolly get better as more expansions are added (thus history advances the time line) but as of right now id suggest looking at a list of the possible items to be had before making a choise for this proff.
Alchemy: Always a winner if you have a herbalist. I know on my server Major mana and healing pots go for 2-3g a pop most times more for the mana.
Enchanting: Since the patch I now have to level my 14 preist i use for DE just so i can get the next level of enchanting. Good money maker as well as a good source of enchants(obviously) I dont use too many enchants my self. I mainly use them on low levels characters to help along the leveling. Prolly the easiest (or close to it) proff to level since you make the majority of the mats yourself. There are some excellent guides available for leveling these at

I have mining, so I want that for the ores and Arcane Crystals later. I can mine Arcane crystals like mad. Of course, the best profit would be to mine the crystals AND transmute an Arcanite Bar myself. That would be 30g every 2 days with no expenses. Or I could mine the ores and ask for transmutes to bump up my production. I don’t know how readily people will transmute a 2 day timer on Burning Legion, but there were always takers on Kargath.
THANKS for the leveling guides.
I guess im lucky I have only had to pay 4g max for the transmute. People are willing to burn the xmute for a small fee where i hang. Most of my alch guildies did the trransmutes for free as long as i was using it for my Dragoning. After a mad 3 days of hunting Rich Thorium Viens for Arcane crystals I have not mined for any length of time except for the occaisional Dark Iron node. I might dip back into that this weekend. Its time for a BRD run to smelt some DI. I love the thrill of getting those crystals. I damn near screamed the first time I got one. I did scream the first time I got a Blood of the Mountain off a DI node. Doesnt take much to make my day. One good drop sorta brightens the whole day. A few days ago i got a Crusader formula drop while doin the new Dreanie…Draenea ..the blue guy’s quest in WPL. Mount training money here i come.
After reading the guides that Mindkiller put up, I am torn between Tailoring and Enchanting. I am leaning towards Tailoring because Maimr has a lot of the mats already, but can’t do anything with them until he levels high enough to train past Expert. He’s going to be stuck at 150 for quite some time.
My big thing with Tailoring will be to get myself to level 57. There areย 6 Epic pieces that I want to craft:
Belt of the Archmage
Robe of the Archmage
Gloves of Spell Mastery
Chromatic Cloak
Truefaith Vestments
Robe of the Void
As a fellow priest (60 undead on Draka) I would say go Alchemy. I spend so much money on potions that sometimes it gets out of control. I started a character just to pick herbs so I could give to my friends to make me pots, thenI decided to go herbalism/alchemy with my mage, just to keep my priest up on mana pots.
So, I suggest to go Alchemy. Makes a pretty penny at the AH too.
