How Long Can You Play At One Time?

January 17, 2007 By Gitr 7 Comments

What is the longest you have played a game, any game in one stretch? I’m not talking about not going to sleep or going to get some lunch, I’m talking about how many days have you done nothing but played the computer, console, or other game system because of vacation, school break, sickness, etc.?ย ย

EDIT: While these are cool…I mean in one sitting folks. Anyone can play a game for a year. How many can not go to work, school, grocery store, or anywhere important or fun for a year? I’m talking 1-14 days here…so what is it, really?

This is no time to be shy. This is important info here. The very balance of the universe depends on your quick replies. You can give stories if you want, but I really want to know how immersive gaming is.

I’ll go first: I did pretty much nothing but Warcraft 3 for 4 days one time. I kept losing one of those levels with a time limit. I would play it and save it ever so often to go back and retry as the waves got harder. The problem was that my strategy was wrong the whole time, so it didn’t matter how far back I went, until I started the level over.

I actually played for 6 months straight in between jobs. Cashed out my 401k and lived pretty well doing nothing but playing final fantasy/everquest 1.

Eh, makes me a total loser, but im not ashamed, i completely enjoyed myself.

When I first started, I was barely working, and I played pretty much straight for three or four months. It still took me 6 months to get my first 60, however… I guess I’m too helpful with the lowbies ๐Ÿ˜‰

I got you all beat. I did it while working. I was a security gaurd for about 1 1/2 years in the same spot the same hours and I barely had to move much. Just puched buttons on gate periodicly. Just after landing the job I got myself a Gameboy SP. and a few games. I also dug out a few old Gameboy color games. Among them was Pokemon Blue, Red, and Yellow. I also had Gold and picked up Emerald near the end of this particular job. I played so much I maxed out the number of pokemon you could have and 95% of the pokemon on EACH game were at max level. I played a few other games during that time but Pokemon was the #1 timesink for those long 10 hour shifts. Coming in close second would be WOW. Total max time with a few breaks for sleep and Hygiene. ~100 hours over a week I had off and nothing pressing to do as the wife was working at a camp and the kids were at the Grandparents house for the week. Man i play way too many video games……shamelessly too.

My longest time in one sitting is thirty-nine hours invested in Final Fantasy IX, breaking only for the bathroom and to restock my Pepsi and snacks. I had no job at the time and had rented the game from Blockbuster so I only had three days to finish it.

The only game I’ve ever called off work to play was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I didn’t even make an excuse, I just called work and said “I’m not coming in tonight. Zelda’s out. So-and-so is going to cover for me.” They totally understood.
