Guide to Re-speccing Your Talents

January 25, 2007 By Gitr 5 Comments

I guess it never occurred to me that someone had never respecced before yesterday. I have done it twice with Gitr, and my ex-roommate must have done it 15 times or so. I’m usually pretty conscientious when I choose a talent point, so it has never been a big deal to me.

But for those of you who have never emptied your talent trees to try another build, here is how you do it.

  1. Go to any of your class trainers in any village, town, or city. They say they are there to help you, and they are.
  2. This is going to cost some money, so they want to make sure this is what you want to do, so proceed.
  3. Then he makes it aware to you that you are going to fork over some gold to have the privilege of starting over with your mad skills.
    • First time: 1g
    • Second time: 5g
    • Third time: 10g
    • Fourth time: 15g
    • Fifth time: 20g
    • Sixth time: 25g
    • Seventh time: 30g
  4. Here is the way that works:

You get the idea. Well, the good news is that the costs maxes out at 50g to re-train.

  5. That’s it. You’re all done with getting dumb again. Now go learn something!

I respec all the time. On two occassions I have respecced, then during the process clicked the wrong goddamn talent and had to pay the next level price to fix my mistake.

Funny thing is, I always respec just to move around one or two talent points, never my entire tree. At this point I don’t think I’ll have to respec anymore, but that’s what I said last time too.

That said, I think I’m the only Affliction-specced warlock on my server, judging by the amount of felguards I see everywhere.

Picking the wrong talent sucks. It’s easily fixable when you’re leveling if you wanted a point there eventually, but totally sucks when you’re a 60 and have to start all over because of it.

My ex-roomie is a rogue and was constantly going beween combat specs for daggers or swords. It was quite humorous.

I seem to be quite comfortable with my spec chioces. Hardly ever respec. When i do decide to do it, a patch comes out changing skills. So i get e free one lol! I guess im one of the strange ones here too. I always go for off spec on my characters. Warlock=Affliction , prolly one of the few on my server too. Rogue=Assassination. Most are combat/sublety very very few Assassins. I like my daggers an poison. never can seem to stomach the loss of speed. I might try a sword soon. *shiver*

Personally, I think Affliction is da bomb. Rhone is affliction and when we run together, all he has to do is run around with my bubble and a Renew on him. Everything eventually falls over and dies. It’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen. 8 level 50+ mobs just falling like dominoes.

Agreed on that note, Affliction is the epitome of warlock PvE builds. I laugh at my demonology-specced buddies (three warlocks in a guild with about fifteen people, is that odd?) when they have to sit down and drink or when I annihilate them on the damage charts.

Problem of course is that an afflock can’t one- or two- or even ten-shot anything. You drop your dots and hope you stay alive long enough to see the kill. Fortunately Unbalanced Affliction helps this problem A GREAT DEAL, but I haven’t put it into practice much since I haven’t been in a battleground since L49.
