World Servers Randomly Down Last Night

January 26, 2007 By Gitr 2 Comments

I had a heck of a time getting anything done last night because of the world servers going up and down like yo-yos. I tried logging in to Deadr, thinking maybe maybe maybe I could level him out if sleep didn’t overcome me. I logged in fine, but after the loading screen, it said the world server was down. I tried 2 more times to no avail.

Time for Gitr to get some playtime, then. I got on him just fine. I went to the east first to kill some orcs to get a Cursed Talisman for Ill Omens [58]. That was fine and all, until I aggroed to many after I already had the drop. I corpse-rezzed and turned it in. The next quest, Cursed Talismans [58],ย looked like I needed to kill a lot of those guys to get the drops I needed. I really need to level some before I start into like-level mobs. My gear really, really sucks. I suppose I could go finish some old-world stuff for XP to get another level under my belt.

I went back to Honor Hold to repair and look for my next area to hit. I pulled up my quest log and saw that one of them was called An Old Gift and only required getting something from Father Malgor Devidicus‘ old house. Sounds like some old Stormwind and Westfall quests back in the day, so I went for it. Have I said my gear sucks? I had a heck of a time battling my way to the house. I finally got there and retrieved Mysteries of the Light and hearthed to Honor Hold to avoid fighting any more. I turned in the quest for 2g. Not bad, I guess. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

I found another quest in my log for finding a lost person or something. It ended up being Search for Sedai. His body is laying just East of the Temple of Telhamat flight point. Literally. Walk off the edge of the plateu and he’s within sight due East. I tried making a nice, high-res shot of it, but when I went to that mode, a pig came up and killed me (slowly) because I couldn’t move at 0.2 frames per second. That sucked, too. I turned in the quest after I rezzed and picked up Makuru’s Vengeance [63] from the guy next to the turn-in guy. This one is way over my head. I have to collect 10 Mag’har Ancestral Beads from some orcs a bit farther to the East from the body.ย To get to the mobs, there are groups of 3 ofย  two 61s and a dibilitated 60 or so. They were just too much for me. I died, but there were more problems with the server and I couldn’t rez.

Cue Bloodr. I played him until he dinged 7 after completing 3 easy quests running around. I really like the look of the BE starting area. I just can’t get enough of it, but it will have to wait until I’m done with Deadr and Gitr. It was late, and I was ready for bed by then.

This morning, I went to kill the three Twilight Keepers in Silithus. They are all level 60s and one of them is all the way down West of AQ. Twilight Keeper Exeter was first on my list. I wanted to get him out of the way because he was the farthest away from the graveyard. ๐Ÿ™‚ He resisted a ton of spells and took me down to nothing, but I got him, and as a bonus, he’s out of the way of other mobs.

Then I rode North to get to Twilight Keeper Havunth. Thankfully, I also found him on the edge of the area that didn’t require any battles. He killed me the first time. Man, he hits hard! He took down my bubble in about 4 seconds and killed me in 4 hits. I don’t know what he put on me, but it was quick.ย I ran back and tried again. This time, he resisted like crap and gave me a hard time, but I got him.

To my surprise, and my delight, Twilight Keeper Mayna was like cutting through butter. I didn’t even have to bubble a second time. No resists, 2 Word: Pains, and some Mind Blasts…dead. That was a nice finish.

I turned in that quest and picked up True Believers [59]. I think I can handle that. I got a boatload of XP for turning in the translated texts to the Commander, and logged out for work.

One thing I noticed when doing quests, really have to read the quests carefully cuz if you overlook a key point, you’ll never find it. I do this all the time and normally the next day when I log back on to do that quest, I’m like why didn’t I catch that. heh

That usually only happens to me when I’m in a group or power-leveling with a guildie. It’s just click and run because they know what to do. Then it turns out that I was supposed to click something after a fight or something like that, and we have to do it again. See What Happened to Deadr Yesterday.
