Be Careful on the Roads in Outlands

February 5, 2007 By Gitr 4 Comments

Has anyone else noticed that the roads are no longer safe? It used to be a very odd mob that would make your life miserable by sticking to the roads. I can recall Stitches in Duskwood, the Runners in Winterfall, and Rexxar wiping out Alliance people on the roads in Northern Feralas and Desolace.

I found it to be a much different case in Outlands. There are not only mobs that aggro like crazy to like-level toons running about their business on the roads, but they daze you, causing you to fight them. Is anyone else as bugged by this?

HA! I went into ShadowMoon Vally last night to level my Mining to 375. I kept getting mauled by the Felbors in the area. Course they were 69 and i was 62, but i never died once since i gots the skilz. Always had one cooldown ready for a quick getaway. Got to 374 from 3 nodes near each other, I just went from one to the other getting skills. I had to scour Zanger marsh for an adamantite for the last skill up. I had found a Khorium vein in a cave near the entrance to Zangermarsh so I mined that too. Since it was a lower level area, I knew no one high enough would find it….sure enough i got to 375 minng and got to mine my first khorium. Man that ore goes for ridiculus amounts of gold.

    Gratz on 375!!

I am REALLY not looking forward to skilling up my last 25 points in mining. I think 300 is the minimum for the ore in Hellfire Penninsula. I guess I could wander Blasted lands or EP now that I’m a 60 with some MC-equivalent gear thanks to Outlands quests.

There are still the odd Mithril deposits that give me points.

Try Burning Steps. There is a nice route to take around the outside of the valley that works for hitting the majority of the spawns. When you get into Helfire, try behind the Darkportal. If you start off to the left(as you come through) head west of the huge hill to the south and work around to the east behind the portal till you get to the end of the land mass to the north. Sweep back and forth since they spawn all over back there. There are quite a few spawns back there and no mobs to speak of. That is where i leveled almost exclusively for the first 25-30 points after 300. Just head back there once every 30-40 minutes for full respawn chances.
