I found that GoDaddy offers a pre-install of Vanilla Forums and I set it up with 3 addons and a new theme that I think we should like if you like my blog. It’s really skeletal so far, but I should be able to get some time in on it today.
Please go give it a whirl so we can see how it works.
Nice job with the forums……has that…um echoy feeling. Like when you go into a department store that is closing and is down to 4 items in the store and no shelves…and the checkout lady is acctually the previuos owners wife who keeps hitting on you because she knows you prolly have more money then her soon-to-be-ex-husband. Yeah thats how the forums make me feel ……or maybe it was that tainted piece of beef I ate last night….urp. Who can know, except the shadows. They haunt me and taunt me with dreams of broccolli and hubcaps. Someone please help me find my face it seems to have been eaten by the couch. Post-its are the work of the devil and need to be taped to the back of a running sidewalk gnome.
So you were eating bad meat last night when I was chilling with your wife outside Silvermoon? LOL. Man, you’d better get some finer quality stuff and make sure you get enough to share it with her.
The forums are nice and simple but just a pondering thought. Will this lead to less blogging and more of forum activities?
I can promise no less blogging because of the forums. I wanted to keep guild planning and management separate, but then post what actually happened on the blog itself.
It’s been working for Aeigelus and Core with us doing it that way. He would have a heck of a lot of stuff going on his blog if he did the guild stuff on there, too.
The thing is, I don’t know if this is going to be a 10 person guild or what, but I think the forums would be a better place to flesh out what the direction to go is. We have 10 founding members, so that is all we need content-wise until end-game. (although we are a little heavy on some classes)
Yeah – make sure that you guys all keep focus on your blogs as well. I let mine go (bad) for a good long time. The Army had some to do with that, but the bigger problem was that I tended to be doing all of my writing in the pathos hammer forums. One good thing you could use the forums for are to create topic threads that each blog could explore from a particular angle. That way you each give a take on a particular event/topic/etc and cross link one another. Kinda like the way they do comics these days with each thread of the story being carried on in a different comic. Anyway – just an idea – the main point being – use the forums as a tool to kee p your blogs fresh and alive.
(my .02) –
I get it…(lightbulb)…use the forums to steal content from my fellow bloggers who unsuspectingly give me good stuff to write about. ๐
jk
Tomas, you don’t like comments on your blog anymore? It says I need to be logged in to comment. ๐
I logged in because you’re cool, though. Just checking that you know it’s set up that way.
You were hanging with me part of the time. I was there when the charter was accepted. She a little bent she wasnt. We were trading of cooking dinner. Just to clarify that first comment was total carp I was in full control of all bodily functions. It just sort of rolled out as that……strange journey into madness that I can only do occaisionally or else I will end up in some hospital. My freedom is directly related to how many people acctually know that I’m completly batshit crazy and…..ooops.
bah – I allow comments – in fact I absolutely revel in them. I thought I had turned the login bit off. I fought a nasty spam war for a while and tightened things up pretty tight until I got an anti-spam plug-in installed and working. I’ll fix that.
Oh – and yes – some of the best stuff you’ll ever write often comes from ideas *other* people have ๐
Mind, I think we all know you’re crazy by now ๐
Time for me to go do my mental therapy myself now…where’d that laser level and magnifying glass go? Pretty colors…
