According to yesterday’s post, American Idol: Week 2 Women’s Night, I was 3 of 4 on my guesses for those getting voted off.
It is becoming quite clear that this season is more about being popular than being a good (or great) singer with some of the ones that really are not up to snuff.
I believe that both A.J. was better than Brandon and Sanjaya just plain sucked worse than all of them Tuesday night. He had no power, no presence, but he did stand out. Like Simon says, I just can’t remember what song some of them sang, but I know Sanjaya wasn’t good. I think both guys should have been left on and my personal feelings about not being good enough to continue at this point was with Brandon, Chris Richardson, and Jared (aka, FaceMelt).
As far as the girls, is there anyone within the sound of my keyboard that honestly thinks that Antonella Barba sang better than Alaina Alexander? Well, she definitely looked better, because I really hated the cut on that stupid dress that came to mid-thigh and had to shape to it. It looked like a cross between Tinkerbell’s nighty and a maternity dress, IMHO. I was really glad to see that Haley didn’t get voted off because I think she really was really sweet and did a good job, but has a hard time standing out against performance like Jordin and Stephanie, despite her singing being just as good.
All in all, except losing both good guy singers, this year is going to be good when we get to the top 6, if America doesn’t screw it up by making it a freaking popularity contest. This isn’t high school, people.
