Following the lead of Tomas in his post on Focus, I have some of the same feelings. I have a 63, 60, 38, 26, 25, 19, 16, 15, and several between 5 and 15. That’s 250 levels right there, and over 150 of them are collecting dust on Kargath, where I burned a few bridges in my old days.
I am being pulled on a daily, no per-login, basis to give my attention to one toon or another. Deadr is just dying to make some money, get to 70, see the new areas of Outland, get Lower City and Aldor rep, get in all of the instances for his level, and get that flying mount.
I had this crazy idea to start a new Blood Elf and see if I could persuade (alright, bribe) you readers to join me to roll new toons on Burning Legion and band together to create Buttered Monkeys. Well, my plan worked, and we have 12 members and 14 toons, but I still want to play Deadr. I feel like a butt playing in Outlands while the rest of my pals are plugging away at old content and leaving my new alt in the dust.
Granted, some of us are going slowly because of our mains, but it seems particularly rude to be on the same server not playing Bloodr. To make matters worse, I am enjoying playing my first horde, first female, first experienced hunter toon and want to get to 40 lickety-split. I don’t want to leave half of our guild behind, but I also don’t want to get left behind by half of the guild.
Is anyone else feeling that tug?
Cant say it better, I feel bad focusing now more on Excaliber than Kelthias because I created Kel to have fun with all new race, side, and class but Im just leaving it to rot.. I think ill go play Kelthias now =P
Nope. I have prolly 4-5 alts in defferent stages of development. Most are for a specific purpose and will go no futher then absolutly nessasary. Though I am anxious to see what happens after 20 ona PVP server.
I have my main rested all the way to 70 with 1/4 of the way already done. Add to that 2 Whole zones of quests and mobs to grind out the last 14 or so bars, it wont be long before I will be flying around on a nice sable mount. Im in no hurry there. Being able to limit myself to playing the Belf alt is a little hard, but doable. Now if I can only keep the wife’s mage alive long enough to get Uber.
yeah – don’t let it bother you! The best part about signing on with the Monkeys is that when we’re on – we’re on! There is no schedule – there are no expectations. Just a great place to hang out and good people to talk to when we’re feeling like being level 20(ish) again.
Most of us are having to juggle not only our rampant ALTism – but also things like work, family, other hobbies, and our stalking obsession into the tiny bit of free time we do have. That said – I don’t always have time to spend on Twisting Nether with Pathos Hammer and Forge – and in reality – there are times when it’s good *not* to be.
Sunforge and the Monkeys are perfect for that time.
Play Deadr – chat with us when you’re in /buttered and don’t sweat it!
When we have enough folks able to make it online, we can always schedule some speed runs through WC or one of the level 20-30 instances. That would be a blast!
I agree with Tomas, we play to have fun, and part of the reason most of us suffer from Altism is for a change up from the norm and to have fun. I recently felt exactly the same and one way I tackled it was to go through each server I had characters on, write down the basic character info (name, class, lvl), then I sat down and wrote my goals/aims for each of the characters. Most I have little to no goals/aims for, others I have completed my goals for (pvp twink in 19 or 29 bracket), and then there are those I have specific goals for. Once I had it all written down I did feel better, even knowing I’ll likely never acheive my goals for ALL the characters I feel like I now have set a plan for them so when I get in the mood to play any of those characters I’m set. And my priorities for the characters are pretty much dictated by the goals I have for them and so before I log on all I decide is who I’m gonna play, everything else comes with time.
Constantly. It is why I have so many alts. I get tired doing the same thing and switch up all the time. It takes a long time to level at times, but it is a game, right?
