Deadr Finds Sporeggars Friendly

March 22, 2007 By Gitr 7 Comments

I met quite a few nice sporeggars last night in Zangarmarsh. They look funny, but they give lots of rep for killing things and they have several repeatable quests. I find it odd that they don’t take my gold. They want these silly little things called Glowcap Mushrooms instead. I killed dozens of their marsh tormentors and found lots of Mature Spore Sacs to make them like me, and then the little buggers wanted mushrooms! How rude.

/RP over (I suck at it)

Basically, I was killing everything in sight in that area of Zangarmarsh, even the non-aggressive Spore Bats to get Fertile Spores. I really like that you can have 3 repeatable turn-ins for rep. I’ve never, ever, ever just stayed in an area and killed stuff to gain rep before. I really want a few of the things that they offer, there aren’t any Alliance around, and I’m getting 1,300xp per kill in the process. Here is a look at Deadr’s current rep list for Outland:

I’m set to ding in under an hour tonight. I continued on the “Clues in the Thicket” questline that starts with Earthbinder Tavgren outside Cenarian Thicket in Terokkar Forest. Technically, that begins with “What’s Wrong at Cenarian Thicket” pretty much as soon as you get situated in Terokkar Forest. I remember some pretty long questlines in 1-60 land, but I’m getting the feeling that this one is even longer. I’m probably on my 10th or maybe even 12th quest and there isn’t any end in sight. It has a good story, too, much like Linken’s questline in Un’goro Crater.

I’ve still got 145% rest to pull extra XP from, so I shouldn’t even think twice about grinding my way through rep and kill quests. It’s all going to come to me in one form or another at this point, be it rep rewards or dinging to wear new stuff and get new places.

I have no clue. I haven’t seen any yet. I’m waving my mouse all over, but I refuse (so far) to look it up because I’ll eventually find them running around that mucky place. I already calculated that I need 50 Mature Spore Sacs and 30 Bog Tendrils for Honored.

Here is what the cute (read: ugly) litte dude told me:

I’ve seen your kind use shiny round pieces of metal to trade for things that you need. We’re not so different from you. We use shiny round mushrooms as our currency.

Glowcap mushrooms grow everywhere in the marsh, you just have to know how to pick them from the ground without wrecking them. I’ll teach you how to do it, if you promise to bring us some for our reserves. What do you say, Deadr?

Does anyone know if these are also spawns to be picked like the Mature Spore Sacs?

Here are the details on getting them another way, I suppose:

Top 5 Drop Rates – Fertile Spores:
    Fen Strider 32%
    Greater Spore Bat 30%
    Spore Bat 23%
    Marsh Walker 22%

    Reputation:
    750 reputation gain with Sporeggar

    Quest Rewards – Items:
    Glowcap (1x)

    XP/Gold Rewards:
    Experience: 10750 xp
    Coin Reward: None
Coin Reward At Max Level: 5g 16s

Oh i was just wondering if they looked anything like the mushrooms you buy from the mushroom vendor in Tarren Mill. That would be sweet if you could just go and buy some and turn them in. So does AmpWow work for you I am not so lucky they even blocked Wowwiki. So terribly upset.

Yeah, this is the only WoW research site I CAN get to. Terribly happy.

Grab an herbalist. They literally grow EVERYWHERE. They are the mushrooms that have the orange light shooting out of them. I farmed rep for these guys and have a stack of 50-something mushrooms, but you don’t get anything really fantastic until you are honored, and sorry, really not that interested in sticking around. I did not realize not everyone could find them. Perhaps I will use them as AH fodder…

A good general vicinity I found for the mushy’s were around the Alliance town/lift to it (Telanaar?). I did 2-3 large kinda circles around it and got all the mushys for the quest fairly easily. Have to keep your eyes open and sometimes circle the trees, because like herbs they have the weird out of normal eyeshot type locations tucked away in alcoves of plants and things.

Yall are close but still a little off there. The greatest concentration of the Glowcaps is in and around the western side of zangermarsh. The area with the Ogres just outside The alliance post called something hoborage. Good place to grind and the shrooms are everywhere. I picked up 50 in less then an hour just running around. There are always 2-3 spawns inside the sporragar camp too. The naga camp to the north of sporrager also has the shrooms. I got to revered with no problem….though i don’t see me going any further with it.
