Ding 28; Bloodr Is In Ashenvale

March 22, 2007 By Gitr 4 Comments

I hit 28 last night after about 15 minutes of killing satyrs in Ashenvale. I had already turned in the Satyr Horn quest, so this was purely for XP. I didn’t have the gumption to go quest anything with her because I just wanted to hit 28 and get on Deadr for the night.

I’m putting out about 80-95 dps right now and things fall fast. It was pretty easy to take on 2-3 of them at a time because Catr has plenty of armor. Now that I’ve recently dinged, I’m going to go out and look to train several new pets for their ablities, although I have the feeling I’ll keep Catr until I can find a great elite pet that suits me.

Any favorite pre-Sin’dal eliteย pets out there? Grimr is still hemming and hawing about getting to King Bag to tame him.

I got Astranon to 21 yesterday, Chatted with Hephaestus and Vassyleen for a long while. That staff that they give as a quest reward for killing Dar’khan. I think i will be joining you all in the Barrens here shortly.

Humar the Pridelord is my personal favorite elite rare. He’s on a *really* slow respawn under a tree in the Barrens (near Ratchet) – I can show you where.

He’s the big black lion that you see some hunters running around with.

My battlegrounds hunter on Twisting Nether (Windpaw) camped that spot for three days with me logging in at all kinds of weird hours of the day in order to finally get him.

I even got jumped by a troll hunter that had been trying to do the same thing – but I pummelled him.

In fact – when I finally *did* get Humar – I saw that same troll hunter get bored and leave just a couple moments after I zoned into the game in my hiding spot. Not more than a few seconds after he ditched – Humar materialized and we started to dance.

The long hunt made that taming all the sweeter.

Another neat elite rare that’s pretty unique is the black wolf in Darkshire. A little more of a challenge to get to. He used to have a shadow attack – but I’m not sure if they nerfed that ability or not.

Is he the beast you have to kill up that plateau NE of Ratchet? I didn’t realize that wolf was Elite. Are you referring to the one up near the bridge into Redridge that you need to turn in his pelt, or his pelt is a cape (something like that)? Lupus?

NO – i think you’re thinking of Echeyakee the white lion who’s a quest target for horde players…(you can choose to tame him too)

Humar is situated just up the hill from ratchet – not far away at all.

Lupos is the wolf – I can’t remember if he’s elite or just ‘silver’ rare. I don’t believe there’s a quest for him though. He’s just one of those rare mobs that just also happens to be tamable.
