Frostr Gains Joana’s Horde Leveling Guide

March 28, 2007 By Gitr 14 Comments

It was an epic drop in the Blood Elf starting area. I was sitting at an hour of play and had hit level 5 with this great drop of leveling supremacy fell. It has been a great 2 hours since then.

Last night, I wiped the [tag]Ruins of Silvermoon[/tag] area completely devoid of quests. I was level 7 before I left the Ruins. I went out and about questing some more and hit level 8 in 2h 11m of /played time with all of my UI issues the first day.

I logged off this morning a good chunk into level 9 in an inn with 2h 50m of /played time and hit Honored with Silvermoon City 2-3 quests ago. I REALLY, REALLY need a wand, but other than that, I’m golden.

I’ve heard from several of you that the guide (If you are horde, I promise you it is worth the investment…as I am a firm believer in not pumping something I have not tried myself. I paid the $37 for it and am loving it.) can be a bit difficult for non-hunters, but I will be testing it with both a hunter and a mage to compare. He does identify hunter-only quests, but I have not run into any that I can’t blast my way out of yet. I can’t wait for my lvl 10 skills. My stance on power-leveling is this: I have 2 60+ toons. I want to try other classes at 60+ without taking months to do it. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything by going fast. I know the principles of the classes by already having been a raider.

My biggest problem now is figuring out what I need to skip with Bloodr because I skipped huge chain quests early on that I can’t jump in on. I may need to play catch up so I can follow it easier. It may be worth it in the end.

Thank you kindly. Send it COD, please. I forgot wands are enchanter goods. Man, Frostr’s got it made. Netherweave bags, cloth armor, wands. Good job guild. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ive tried Joana’s guide but for non-hunters you should really try James Horde leveling guide. Its cleaner/cuter, it actually gives you quest hints and not simply linking to extern web pages and a bug plus, its Free.

Google it.. i cant open its main page at work to get to the James guide and link it.

I was just gonna post about Jame’s guide. I was wondering if theres so much of a difference between a free guide and a guide you have to pay $30 for.

So far, Jame’s guide seems to be working just fine for me.

I checked it out after Higgs posted that reply. Here is my analysis:

Jame’s guide does not begin until level 21. That totally bites. I’m already Honored and have not missed a single quest or wasted more than a couple of “oops, I could have run counter-clockwise around that building to be faster,” instances as my only time-wasters.

ALL of the quests are linked to Alla, thott, or wowhead with Joana’s. That is totally a time-saver if you want more specifics than the text he gives.

Joana’s text is NEXT to the map instead of having to scroll up and down to look at the text and then the map.

Joana’s guide has maps on one side with markers and lines showing the flow AND drawn in areas where mobs are found. Looking for murlocs? There they are, in that area.

Joana’s guide has videos available if you want to see a boss or an area in motion. The whole thing was recorded. It’s pretty cool. I watched him take down Deathclasp last night to check it out.

I’ve tried many-a-guide, and Joana’s is superior to all of the one’s I’ve seen, enough for me to shell out cash. I saved up little things here and there for a very long time to puchase this without aggroing my wife, and I feel it was money very well spent. I don’t take purchases over $10 lightly any more, so that makes this almost 4x heavier than most purchases…

Those of you who use Joana’s, want to chime in here, too?

I’ve used Joana’s for a bit now and I have to say that it’s the *maps* that are included that really balance out the value. Additionally – he even fraps one whole run to 60 – so if you want to check out video of a certain spot – you can.

Last night i realized that i was using Joana’s for the 60-70 part. I never grinded on my way to 70 and i didnt even go in Shadowmoon Valley. There so many solo quests in Outlands ๐Ÿ˜›

    Hit 70 on my priest with 11days 20hrs /played.

    So what now ?

    – Making Mooncloth once every 48 hours.
    – Respeccing Holy ? staying Shadow ?
    – Peeveepee?

    Level my hunter? ๐Ÿ˜›

You realized you were using it? I’m not quite sure where you’re coming from there.

I only took a look at the 60-70 part and was surprised at the path he takes. I’ll get to that some day. ๐Ÿ™‚

I used James for 21 to 60 then i had to switch to Joanas since James didnt update to 70 yet.

So strangely i was using James on my Hunter and Mage, but following Joanas 60-70 with my priest.

But for Outlands a guide becomes more of a location helper than a optimized path. You dont have that many quests that involves jumping from one zone to the other. Ala go to Barrens then to Tarren Mill and back.

I quite enjoyed my journey to 70. Just not sure if im going to like the destination.

Ill prolly start my Karazhan key quest tonight in hope seeing it one day.

But the Play Time / Reward is much more enjoyable on an Alt then a capped character.

its a shame the Frozen Shadowweave set looks ugly. Its the only reason why i went Mooncloth mastery. I just want them Primal Mooncloth shoulders.

Anyhow, ill wait till you level your priest and share those same dilemmas.
