Velen Is Our New Home

April 18, 2007 By Gitr 24 Comments

After much deliberation and polls and asking and e-mails, the prevailing winds have sent us to [tag]Velen[/tag]. It is a PvE server with a “Recommended” population status. Server time is -07:00. I only experienced lag when my Internet dropped me last night and I wasn’t able to get back on until this morning.

My toon, your new GM is Huntr, a [tag]Blood Elf[/tag] [tag]hunter[/tag], of course. If you want, start any race you want, and we’ll meet up in Kalimdor and such around level 20. I’m at the halfway through level 6 with 69 minutes of /played time. (I’m 10 minutes ahead of Frostr’s pace)

I will create a bank and auction toon tonight so we can pool money and get the guild charter faster. Nothing will change as far as the guild goes, just our home. I am assured that we will have new players joining the ranks on this PvE realm.

To those who want PvP, there are PLENTY of people who run around with their flag up, so if you want to leave it up at all times, by all means, have fun PvPing. I remember the days in IF on Kargath, you’d see a pretty fair mix of green and blue names running around.

I think we should coordinate professions on the forums today, and see how much money we can make. Edit: Thanks for doing that, Lance.

Here is my new RPG profile: Huntr of Velen.

There were a lot, so we’ll see if Tomas re-rolls with us as a pally or if Kelthias transfers or becomes a new pally. Seriously, roll what you want.

Once I’m able to get a few IRL things sorted out (hopefully by this weekend) I’ll be rolling a Priest.

That takes care of healing as a necessity.

I think I got to 50% of 7 or maybe to 8.I was gonna grind to 8 anyways. I seem to be able to handle mobs with out the big spells you get at those levels. I did a quick census scan and only saw a smattering of peoples across the level ranges. I scanned the ah for these items for comparison:

Wool well below average for most realms in cost AND High availability.
Linen Cost is ridiculously low for right now.
Copper ore Comon people does no one JC here?
Tin Ore Non existant, would be dirt cheap too.
IBronze ore Way lower then I have ever seen it anywhere.
Iron Ore Decent prices on this stuff.
Lower enchanting mats are so cheap.
I also checked Deviate fishes uncooked/cooked. They are embarassingly low.
Low level herbs are very low.
These are just the initial money makers I have used. Most realms have a decent need of these. Seems the need has yet to spring up on Velen. It would be helpful to know how old Velen is then I can get a reasonably accurate guess as to when certain things will start be come lucrative.
ZOMG I’m becoming a WoWstreet Trader.

It would be a great place to transfer to with about 1000g. You would be able to level enchanting and alchemy for a song. Also prolly be able to buy the entire AH, there was only 1344 items on the AH last night. Course this was just the Horde side I will have to make another Draeni to check out the Alliance. I may institute an old plan of cross faction marketing.

What ever i tried to post is lost to the ether. If it is sitting in moderation go ahead and dump it. I just went an made it a post on the forums. If we get some decent numbers up on Velen I will start to keep every one appraised of market spikes and trends. Its kinda my thing now. I own AHs where ever I go when ever I can.

Nothing has gone to moderation for quite a while. It must be a database thing. Great post on the forums.

I found them. They were in spam. You have been tagged with something you used in those posts (IP address or something) that made it flag directly to spam. I de-spammed them in an effort to keep you out of the Akismet database.

Wierd. It can stay or go your choice. It is immortalized in the forums. I may not get on till late seeing as I have a date with a RugDoctor and a few rooms worth of carpet. SO I’ll be done in like a hour. RugDoctors ROCK. Course i will still have to move all that furniture….damn heavy dressers and stoof.
