I would have to log into Frostr to see what his level 25 /played time was, but Huntr got to level 25 in under a day. 23h 56m to be exact. I would also say that was still a far from perfect run to 25. I have died at least 15 times, trained unnecessarily, and not completed some group quests. I expect that my pace will get a tad better as I earn more gold on the AH to fund better gear and such. It’s high time to create a personal bank alt, as using Butterbanker would be downright wrong. 🙂
I am a bit off-pace with Joana’s Horde guide because I now have to grind 60% to get to where it says I need to be. I will likely be going to [tag]Thunder Bluff[/tag] tonight to train Guns and Staffs when I turn in a quest and accept a couple more, including the always fun, [tag]Steelsnap[/tag]. Still, being off-pace, I am able to grind at a blinding pace, with [tag]FuExperience[/tag] saying that I will ding in about an hour more at my current rate. That shows how poorly I played a couple of days ago, taking 3 hours to level.
I also updated my RPG profile because I got some really nice green drops last night, including a dagger that has better stats than the sword I was using. The only one I remember the name of was the Precision Bow, which has 5dps better than the bow I was using. Let’s see…5dps or 60 silver? No-brainer. Equip. Shoot!! Kill!!
When I was grinding around the quillboars area in Southern Barrens (like I said I would), Jikksta whispered to me that he hates the new in-game spam. I do to, so I made sure he knows about [tag]SpamSentry[/tag], which is totally a life-saver with this new trend. He does and uses it, but it’s still annoying. I have reported 8 people on Huntr in 24 hours of gameplay. On a 4 month-old server! I’ve always received an automated whisper from a GM that it will be investigated, etc, etc. Not last night! Jikksta got this message back:
I know I’ve been talking an awful lot about the new UI I’m using, but I’m sorry, it is just awesome! It’s not just about getting a cleaner look than the standard UI, it’s a vast gameplay improvement. I noticed that Jikksta is still using the original UI, and I never, ever blast someone for doing that, I personally can’t play with 2, 3, or 4 open bags. I used the original bags for about 6 months, and I had to put in my mind which bags I kept things. Weaps in one, armor in another, quest items in another, etc. You can’t just auto-loot without having to sort things out every 15 minutes when you’re grinding that way. Here is what my bottom bar looks like now, as I have decided this morning that I want to make some more changes to the UnitFrames and buffs before I unveil my “final” setup.
You have prolly noticed that I’ve given up the 2 monitor setup now that I have the new UI. I was experiencing too low of frame rates to enjoy the game as much as I should. I was hankering for a new video card upgrade or memory or something with things being that poor. No one should have to suffer through 4fps gameplay. 🙂 That being the case, now that I’m running a single display, and the new UI having a preset setting config from one of the addons, I noticed 2 days ago that the display was a much higher quality than before, with 14-18fps coming at me.
Then last night, I noticed something I had not for a very, VERY long time: beauty. This game is downright beautiful with the right settings. I was taken aback when I was running through the canyons in Thousand Needles last night. I noticed shadows! It was sunset in the canyon, and the light was filtering through the structure of the lift to Freewind Post, and the sight was quite beautiful.
I have a few things to do to get me to 26 a bit faster tonight, and I plan on dinging and training in TB before logging. I’ll leave you with 2 more scenery gems before I get to work stuff:
What did you do last night? Sound off!
Wow I dont know how you played at 4FPS I would have shot my self. I never drop below 30FPS except when ORG is super busy and then is at like 12FPS and my screen is so jumpy.
Let’s just say I’m a very patient person. 🙂
Yeah you would have to be. Oh and I finally got Bongos to change my stance bars Yeah. I looked at Frostr’s journey and you are really blowing him out of the water 26H and some change for LVL 24.
I’d say what really made the difference with that is the pet. Frostr is totally twinked, as was Bloodr, but Bloodr was pre-guide. Huntr is a master of the ThreatMeter and rarely takes aggro away from Catr, so with my new Mend pet, Catr stays up and takes on multiple mobs when I want. It’s the next best thing to AOE grinding.
Frostr’s problem was in high-aggro areas with wandering mobs. If he got caught with his pants down, low on mana, he was pretty much screwed. With a good talent of running out of caves and staying alive, he just can’t handle actually fighting 2+ mobs yet because polymorph doesn’t last long enough to do jack.
Well I really did not do much last night, but tonight there is a strong chance that I wont have to come into work. Is that a marathon WoW session I smell in the air? I do believe it is.
I will get to play more on Saturday. K is working because someone at work is getting married and she didn’t get invited because we didn’t invite her to ours. Hey, we only had 86 people at ours. How high up on the list do you expect to be when you’re a co-worker that you see for 5 minutes a week because you’re on opposite shifts when that’s barely enough people to accomodate family? Pretty high, I guess.
So, I’ll work my usual 6-noonish and clean up the kitchen and fire up WoW until she gets off at 3 or 4:00. I’d say we should do a guild run, but Huntr is a total party-pooper. Maybe I should go ahead and roll my ‘lock if I want to do instances. Paladin should be fun, too, as I’ve never played one past level 8. I want to do that prot AOE stuff on the videos, and that should only take a day and a half of gametime to get that high.
Right now, my goal is to ding every day, if not every time I play. The once a day should remain realistic for a few more levels. 🙂
Thats a good call I have been meaning to download threat meter cause I constantly pull Aggro off of Puppy, thats right my cats name is Puppy. But they always die before they reach me so that is a good thing.
I’m sad now. I just found Joana’s posted tiimes to 60. He got to 25 in 16h 41m. 🙁 I suck!
Give it time you will get there. Think of it this way this is only your second toon using the guide and he has done it several times and already between the first and the second you have knocked like 3 hours off your time.
Like lance said, you’ll get there. I really need to get that guide, because man those times are awesome. I’m a little biased, but I would roll a Lock. I love Lock. 🙂
