Ding 27; Working on Saturday

April 28, 2007 By Gitr 6 Comments

I dinged this morning in pretty good time (/played 1d 5h 4m: Joana’s Horde Guide). Maybe I was too tired last night. I went and trained for level 4 Bite and Claw with a couple of beasts in [tag]Ashenvale[/tag]. Now I’m going to go after the Burning Legion when I get home from work.

Now that I’m at the office with my [tag]Egg McMuffin[/tag] and small Coke with no ice, I have a moment to post the pics I sent myself.

I have spent some more time tweaking the UI. I had plenty of time last night when I was grinding my way to hit 26. I am all caught up with the guide now on level/quest equality. It was getting frustrating to try to do things that Huntr was too low for because I was able to complete the quests sooner than my leveling was supposed to account for. Whoah, getting off track there.

Back to the UI. I changed the [tag]UnitFrames[/tag] for me, Catr, and the targets, but I’m still embarrassed to say I don’t know how to get rid of those debuffs above my head when I’m fighting. It is apparently not the Aura setting. Here is the UI with both bags hidden and bags out, to illustrate that I’ve got it playable both ways without it feeling cluttered to me. I’m never clicking to move my view or target something and dragging something along with me. That’s a must.

It is also important to keep the quests down low so you can see if something is off to the side of your pet or target that will patrol or get drawn into the fight. Avoid blindspots, basically.

I wasted quite a bit of time this morning not reading directions correctly, and worst of all, dying 3 times trying to tame an Alpha in Ashenvale. He howled and brought an antlered buck into the fray, so I had to run, but died anyway. Then I tried twice to kill the buck, but my weapons skills were too low to get a hit that hurt him (I was long since done with my healing potions). Then when I got back the 3rd time, I saw that the wolf was level 28, not 26, so it wouldn’t have mattered anyway. No wonder he wasn’t getting tamed on my first attempt. ๐Ÿ™‚ I cleaned my contacts and came back to the desk. /rofl

I got those tamed and went after some Thistlefurs. Those guys are so much fun to kill. It’s like killing an ugly Pooh bear over and over again. They are so stinking butt ugly for being a furry creature. I leave you with a gratuitous shot of Huntr hunting. ๐Ÿ™‚

for one thing, dont use bite and claw for your pet. use claw and growl for now. bite + claw destroy’s your pets focus leaving it very little for growl to proc.

You should get fizzwidget’s hunter helper (sp?) because it tells you the traits that beasts train when you tame them. Claw is a cat/bear thing, and I think you get some of them with the std level 10 quest. Later on, you train up level 3 with a Ghostpaw cat in Ghostlands south of Windrunner Spire.
