American Idol Predictions: Final 6.2

May 2, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

After last week’s fundraiser on American Idol, they did not let anyone go. This week, the 2 lowest-ranked singers leave the show to put us at the Final 4 next week. It has really been cool to see the singers come into their own stage presence and give a truly entertaining concert presentation.

I was really impressed with the overall quality of the show, but one person stood out above the rest: Blake Lewis. He really went out on a limb and sangย a song that everyone loves just the way it is written, re-mixed it, and added beat-boxing to it. I was floored, grooving to the beat, and loving his rendition and performance i general. Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

I like all of the singers left, except Chris Richardtimberlakeson, so once he’s gone, I’ll be sad every week to see someone that I’ve liked being in the competition for so long.

My Idol prediction for this week, combining last week and this week is:

Chris Richardson and Phil Stacey

While I don’t think Phil deserves to go for his last two performances, I think that is the way the ball rolls.

I watched it last night with my wife and we were both blown away by Blake. I mean, I’ve been pretty impressed in the past, like when he sang All Mixed Up by 311 and Somewhere Only We Know by Keane, but this late in the competition with the stakes this high on a song this well known… he will win the whole ting.

My wife and I felt the same way. Simon’s comment of half will like it, half won’t sounded right last night, but I think just the sheer genius of the effort and execution wow’ed everyone over bar maybe some diehard Jovi fans. While I won’t go out and say he’ll win (Melinda and Jordin are still favorites to go all the way Imo) he has proven he belongs with the top, and if he can knock out songs like that will definitely have a decent career ahead of him. I made 4 votes last night, and the 2 that missed out were Timberfake and Phil. Like Gitr I think Phil has improved, but too little too late, a couple good weeks an Idol does not make. It’ll be interesting tonight. Good to see Idolatry back Gitr!
