I got to level 20 and was totally thrilled with the questline that I got to go through to get a new spell (which was kind of lame) and the start of a quest for a new forged Rare polearm. I can pretty much guarantee you that you will enjoy the quest called The Second Trial.
First step: hit level 20. Duh! That’s what makes it a level 20 quest, but sometimes the obvious needs stating. Knight-Lord Bloodvalor once again sends you on your way to be tested, this time quite a bit closer. You need to travel back through the]Ruins of Silvermoon to the little building Northeast of the gate leading back to the newbie area.
Once there, you find a strapping Blood Elf called Master Kelerun Bloodmourn. He beckons you into the building behind him to touch a crystal in the middle, which will start your trial. Touch the crystal and see what happens. Have fun.
Oh, I’m just kidding you! Here’s what happens: you nearly get your butt handed to you by four, yes, 4, Blood Knights, who come at you one after another (thankfully not all at once). I mistakenly used Consecration on the first two. Don’t waste your mana. That spell takes you down to nearly half mana after them, and that’s really pressing your luck with your need to heal a time or two. I’d suggest bringing a healing potion to suck down just in case.
When you take down all of them, you get to go back to Bloodvalor to get Sense Undead and the instructions to begin collecting the mats for getting your Blood Knight weapon called the Blood Tempered Ranseur with a quest called The Path of the Adept. It is darn near 20dps and has paladin stats, making it a better choice than the Dar’Khan weapon, Sin’dorei Warblade, IMO, since you should easily be able to get the mats with just a little help from like-level guildies. I have read reports of soloing the mats collection with level 24-25 toons. If you get this weapon as a level 20-21, you are set for quite a few levels if you aren’t locked into using a shield.
What are the mats so we can help you out?
I’m sooo glad you asked, because I really want this thing sooner, rather than later. I’ve got a great 2H sword waiting, but it’s level 26, and this thing is prolly as good or better.
The problem is that I’m at work and can only look up some of the stuff. The quest is called Forging the Weapon. I found lots of forums and WoWwiki links that I can’t view here.
I got the insignia off the fallen knight in Deatholme, so that leaves going into SFK, RFC, and BFD for other items. From what I gather, if you can solo it at level 25, you must not need to do too much to get the job done, but help would obviously be great.
The problem with this weapon (and frankly the Alliance hammer as well) is that if you don’t have high levels to help you, it’s hard to complete the quest before level 25. Then, if you’re planning to Protection Spec AoE, the weapon is pretty useless as PAoEladin works best with Sword and Board.
I found the Alliance-side 20 quest first part to be -much- harder than the horde-side. Killing the 4 paladins was cake compared to 3 waves of 4-6 Defias. After that, gathering the mats was about the same for both sides.
I did end up keeping the quest reward weapon as a back-up two-hander.. but most of them time I want/need a one-hander. Ah well.
Congrats on completing the first part!
Nibuca
Tatia 47 Draenei Paladin
Illyah 26 Blood Elf Paladin
do you think those will only drop for the person with the quest
Thanks for the insight. I still love great quest rewards, though. I know I’ll be using a “stick and board” most of the time because of the talents and spells, but there are going to be times I just want to whack something REALLY hard. ๐
Yes, I do, Lance. They are special people, I believe. They don’t seem to be related to normal content. Remember the guy in SFK that is behind the gates in the courtyard that you can talk to, and then he falls down again? He’s one of them.
Posted the Quest notes for ‘The Path of the Adept’ and where to find the loot in the forums for later ease.
I have a way to get by our firewall and proxy now….and its more secure then both lol!!
Oh ok I see well then some guild runs need to be scheduled. And Mind I have the same way and it works like a charm.
Awwww, c’mon now, give a Monkey some butta!!!!! What’s this magical way thou speakest of? Share the love (or shoot me a private msg on the forums, either way, inquisitive minds are enquiring!!) ๐
I got you covered Jikksta I PM youa on the Forums.
