Gitr just called me. He’s concerned that everyone is on vacation or jumping ship to other games. He was looking at the traffic stats recently and has noticed a drop in numbers on the site, but it’s an unusual trend going on…
For some reason, the stats per incoming activity are remaining level, as in Google isn’t crapping out, people aren’t coming via bookmarks less often, or anything odd like that. Traffic is low across the board. Yet subscriptions are on the rise. My Feedburner stats are reporting over a 20% rise in subscribers, but a 40% decrease in site visits. Strange.
Is this a new trend we are seeing? I asked a fellow blogger with very high traffic, and they said that quite a few blogs are reporting lower traffic numbers fitting this description.
I know I haven’t been posting like I used to, but that doesn’t explain the increase in subscribers. Maybe WoW is losing its appeal… finally.
I’m back now but it will be constant starting on monday. To tell you the truth Gitr I liked when you threw your personal posts in there aswell mainly cause I’m nosey and can see whats going on in someone elses life with there permission. But I think it added more of a this is not just a WoW thing its something you enjoy doing and it showed.
Lance,
Great you have you camo butt back here. Really.
I was getting the impression that ppl only wanted to come here for WoW, so that was why I created Perfectly Petersen. If you guys want personal, too, that’s cool, but I’m not putting WoW stuff over there. ๐
I’d be glad to double-post so you don’t have to go both places.
Dont go through the trouble of double posting just link to it and I will add it to my favorites when I get back to work I just forgot that you had started a personal blog. I will be avidly reading starting monday so its good to be back and I am almost to 59 with my Warrior and headed to Outland tomorrow. wish me luck .
Hey hey!!
As previous comments indicate, the cause is due to many things. I do think that summer time has a weightier merit than most think.
Whiffle’s adventures have come to a halt for the time being due to insane work commitments, and any downtime I have is spent outdoors doing summer things. I’m finding this to be the case with many of the older players I role with. Especially those with families. It’s the perfect time to take a break.
On an another note, fresh content can come with its own measure of pressure .. and I’m sure you’ve felt it at times. Especially since you’re the only source for the content on your site. And to keep readers coming back you have to keep the frequency or the quality of the posts up. It can get trying at times, but at least the in game experiences are always there to be had and written about.
And mixing it up like you have is always a good idea. But no matter, I’ll keep on dropping by … ๐
Lance,
Thanks for letting me off the hook there. I added the link to General Blogs up at the top right. Enjoy!
Whiffle,
Thanks for your input. I know all about the work thing… the frustrating thing now is that there isn’t much to keep me as occupied as I can be, so I was blogging. Now I’m not blogging at the office and not playing as much at night.
I’m getting more side-job commitments (yay) that I need to tend to in the evenings, and then school starts in 2 weeks, and will take up one night plus assignments.
I’ll be putting something up on my blog about what’s going on with that soon.
Hey no prob gitr I dont mind jumping websites I have the time at work so I might as well.
