I found that I had a backlink to my blog from a ton of sites today, so I checked them out. This one didn’t have anything to do with me, except a stolen image.
What is a publisher to do? *ding!* Replace the file with another and edit my original post to point to the original image with a new name. ๐
Click the image to see what he sees now. ROFL! In an effort to tone this down a bit, just in case one can get in trouble for obscene images getting back at someone being a jerk, I added the censored dot to this kid’s obvious contemptuous display.
What do you do when this happens?
UPDATE: I checked his blog last night and he had replaced the image with another one (undoubtedly stolen somehow), but my image was up for a full 8-10 hours first.
Heh heh. Excellent payback.
There’s a way to do this automatically I think. It has to do with detecting when your image is being used or embedded externally and substituting your thief image instead. It stops sites from not only using your images, but also stopping them using your bandwidth to display them on your site.
I can’t remember how it’s done or where I saw it though.
That is hilarious good on you.
Thanks guys! That was fun, but now I didn’t get enough sleep. ๐
Lol. Woot!
LOL
Well done. Yes, you can do all that automatically using your .htaccess file.
Haha. That’s brilliant!!! I have people steal my content all the time. I’ve developed a 6 step system for dealing with it: http://www.explodethenet.com/a-6-step-system-to-stop-people-from-stealing-your-website-content-10.html
Images I have not really had much troubles with, probably because I’m such a bad graphic designer! ๐ Your technique is superb, though.
