Working on a Secret Project

July 18, 2007 By Gitr 13 Comments

Sorry for the lack of posts, folks. I hope you aren’t too terribly put off by my recent absence. My life has gotten incredibly full lately. Here are just a few things going on:

  • Summer session for college at USF takes up 8 class hours per week.
  • Work has become ever-so much more demanding.
  • Work has banned me from blogging when I’m waiting for things to do. Other people wandered… I blogged. I see no difference.
  • I am editing a book for a friend.
  • My wife is now working full-time at her top 5 bank and I am picking up some of the chores at home.
  • My parents moved last weekend.
  • I am building a blog for my parents.

That should be enough to keep 3 people busy, so it’s no surprise to me that my posting frequency is suffering. Despite all of this, I am still finding time here and there to play. I’m working on a secret project of mine for the blog(s), which I will reveal when it is closer to being done. With my schedule the way it is, if I divulge too much too soon, someone could start and finish before me and I would lose my marketing edge.

What I can say, is how cool playing in Exodar has been. On Velen, I started a hunter (of course) and a priest (also of course) this week. I don’t see having another hunter main, although I could see having another priest as a main, so she (that’s right) got my normal naming. Meet Guljaeden andHealr. I leveled Guljaeden to level 10 in about 2:45 and went through his questline. I got Healr up to level 6 in just a bit, but that was last night only… before bed.

The most interesting quests I have found so far are the totem quests where you shapeshift into a snake and then a shadowcat. That was cool. I also especially enjoyed dressing up as a tree to witness a traitor.

Any guesses as to what I’m planning? No promises that I’ll fess up, but let’s see how much you know about me.

If you want to be truly evil. Do as Jen suggested, but set the timestamp to after working hours. That way you can write when the muse strikes, but the post goes out when it’s allowed.

Of course, if you’ve agreed not to blog during work hours you wouldn’t want to dishonor your word.

But you could keep a notebook to jot down thoughts and flesh out some bloggy ideas. If you’re not doing anything else, there shouldn’t be a problem with that. That way, if the muse does whack you over the head during business hours, you don’t have to lose the ideas.

Hey Stropp. I dearly miss being able to visit your blog at work. Websense started blocking it months ago. How are things with you?

I use Post-Its and jot things down and put them in my money clip. It’s just a matter of whether or not I have time at night to get a post up.

I’ve been good. I quit my job three weeks ago, and I’m starting a new one on Monday. The blog has been slow for the last few months, I’ve been suffering a bit from the gaming blues, but things are starting to get back to normal once again. And, I upgraded the theme and the wordpress version recently. I’ve got a brand new, much cleaner look now.

I do remember you mentioning that my site was being blocked. I checked out the Websense site and it appears that they maintain a database of URLs that are mined from the internet, or are submitted by customers. I’m a little surprised that I’d be in that database since it’s supposed to be malicious content that triggers the addition to the database. And there’s nothing on my site that could be considered malicious. The only thing I can conclude is that someone added my URL to the Websense DB, or to your works version.
