Exalted with Arathi Basin – Only 419 Games to Go…

November 19, 2007 By Growl 11 Comments

So on Monday, Growl likes to troll the official forums and see what the BLUES have to say about things. One little bit of rantage that I came across had to do with the Arathi Basin battleground and just *how* long it would take to reach exalted.

The post started out with a fairly distraught fellow that had come to the conclusion that to reach exalted status with AB he needed to play something like 23,800 games – which worked out (assuming around 30 minutes a game) to the disproportionately large time hack of 58 days of played time in Arathi Basin alone.

Needless to say my jaw dropped. 58 days of /played – in AB? That…that’s just insane…it’s worse than insane – it’s criminal! Who could *stand* to play that much Arathi Basin? Great Spirit-In-The-Sky think of the children!!!

Before I could work myself up into a truly indignant rage, I remembered that some good friends had hit exalted back under the old PvP system. They seemed okay. No twitches or night terrors about losing the Lumber Mill or waking up screaming that the Farm is getting ninja’d. A couple even had families. How could this number be right?

Intrigued, I combed through a few more pages of the post until I caught on to a friendly fellow that paid closer attention to grade-school math.

The *real* break down to hitting exalted in AB looks like this:

  • Neutral to Friendly — 30 Games
  • Friendly to Honored — 60 Games
  • Honored to Revered — 120 Games
  • Revered to Exalted — 210 games

That’s a grand total of 420 games. Now the numbers assume 100 rep points per turn-in and don’t include fun things like AB Honor Weekends or bonus rep earned from quests so the actual number is likely to ball park a bit lower. That said, it’s still an accomplishment.

With this in mind, has the addition of the new “Conquerer” title lead any of you to try and hit exalted with all three of the original battlegrounds? Have you already done it? Send us a screenshot of your toon and let us know what the grind was like!

I have only entered AB once. Are some games considerably faster or longer than 30 minutes? I’m looking for quick PvP rankings to get good gear.

AB can take that long but its not likely most of the time I have spent no more than 15-20 minutes in there.

Holy cow! How is the wait time on Velen? I smell upper 40s blood with Paladr. I shall ding tonight or before my wife gets home from work. Whichever come about when I get the kitchen ready for vacation. Stinky sink syndrome sucks.

Never had a really long AB, i’ve been in some uber short ones….i hate Pre-mades!!

And being on an RP server it means finding a BG Pre-made team is next to impoissible.

Shortest AB – about 5 mins – from start to finish! (Not including the ones where you arrive in AB, only to find that the score is 1900-1500 or something)

Its WSG that gets on my nerves a lot!

I was in one the other day which we eventually won, but it was an epic battle!! i walked away with 78 HK’s i was 2nd on the kill list with 56 Killing blows! Score was 2-3 to us in the end, but it was epic!!

The Horde tend to work together a lot more than the alliance, but in this one it was great becuase we were loosing 2-0 and then we organised things and came back to win! i think the Horde were mightily annoyed!! ๐Ÿ˜›

I’m exalted with AV from before TBC hit – spent a lot of time in there farming marks for the epic head/shoulders and a nice little collection of epic riding mounts (AV Ram, Black War Cat, Black War Horse) I cant wait for the Black War Elekk to come out!!!

I imagine i’m going to have to do a lot of Eye of the Storm marks for that…damn! i hate that place!

I love BGs, it’s an addiction inside an addiction we call WoW! :p

Battlegrounds are so much fun compared to world pvp, for me, but world pvp has it’s kicks too, being a Rogue.

I simply can’t wait until I hit 60 up to 70, then I will be raping AV and Eye of the Storm on Skywall! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Look for the name, “Imdeadkthnx”, if you’re on Skywall, it should be hitting up from 30-60 in maybe two weeks or less… Got a long vacation coming up. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Ok, so that’s really like 8 1/2 days of /played time. Not too bad. I wish I enjoyed PvP more, but I don’t, lol. It’s not exactly enjoyable as a healing druid ๐Ÿ™
Except once, I had a dps warr, a mage, and a lock hitting me, and with my HoTs on myself I never went below 90% HP. That was kinda cool, but that’s the only fun a healer like myself gets in BG. The only PvP that I really do like is Arena. That’s fun.

what is this “100 rep points per turn-in” that you speak of? I must have missed something. The only rep I think I have gotten from AB is 10 rep here, 10 rep there, that pop up during the round for killing people, or capping flags.

I should have been more clear – back in dem “old days” – you’d usually get around 45-50 rep per “turn-in” of 3 AB tokens – plus 10 rep per 330 resources gathered in game (plus some bonus rep if you won your game – don’t recall the amount.)

After the PvP system changed up and we no longer turned in stacks of “3” tokens anymore – rep dropped to what is garnered during play (the 10 here and there) plus whatever you get for a win.

The numbers that were being thrown around in the forum post had to do with ‘average gains’ across a ‘win’. So – the way they were figuring it – each win was netting around 100 rep. Thus the math they stumbled upon for figuring out around how many winning games you’d need to play to finally hit exalted.

I have a number of friends that did this on Alliance toons back in the Shadowburn battlegroup. They won so rarely that my best guess is that they needed to almost double that number. Brutal.

You thought it was hard for horde to get exalted….

Imagine how hard it is for Alliance = I
