Deadr’s profile is online

September 25, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I finally went back to RPG Outfitter to upload Gitr’s and Deadr’s profiles last night. The links are over by the e-mail link in the side bar. I’m pretty happy with how things are going with Deadr’s equipment, but I’d better get some sales from a big ticket thing I bought last night. I got an epic pattern for 15G that should sell for 34, so I put it up for 30. It hadn’t sold as of 5am today, so we’ll see about later.

I spent 12G on Skycaller, so that made me a bit antsy. My wanding was fine, but I decided to add another 7 dps anyway. I put off going to bed for a few minutes to try it on Fenris Isle. I don’t know if I was killing any faster or not, because I was falling asleep. Helpful information, huh?

Things are moving really fast on the wedding plans now. We’re down to 26 days and counting. I need to line up a limo and get the hotel reserved on my card to guarantee the room. I’m bacheloring it tonight, so I should hit 19 today.

Level 18 and on the rise

September 24, 2006 By Gitr 3 Comments

It just took 40 minutes of crazy killing on Fenris Isle to level up last night. I just might do the same thing for going all the way to level 20. Boring as all get-out, but I might venture into the walled area on the island. I still need to look up where to bury the talking head, then that should help me decide what to do.

I got some nice gear and took my Mana up over 1140.  I got Spirit Tap level 4 with my ding, so I really, really never need to mana-up while grinding. It’s fun to take on 2 mobs of higher level and just bubble and heal and wand the crap out of them with no danger of depleting my mana. I’ve avoided any big weapon purchases so far, leaving those for the 20s, or waiting for raid drops or quest rewards. I already have some stuff from SFK that I need to wait until I hit 20-21 to wear.

Yesterday was a good day, starting with going to work on Saturday. I need to get a lot of hours to get set for our wedding in 4 weeks, so I am not upset about working at all. I got to learn some new stuff that is easy work that just needs to be done anyway, so I might as well come in on Saturday and get overtime for it. That makes it even more “worth”while. 🙂 After that, I got to do a house call for computer work, come home for the Ohio State game against Penn State, and help K unpack all of the bridal shower gifts from last week. OSU kicked butt, the apartment looks GREAT, and then I leveled Deadr. See? THAT is a great day.

Ding

September 23, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I got Deadr up to level 17 1/2 last night doing quests around The Sepulchur. There were lots of level 14-16 mobs around the ferry that I got rest XP for, and then I switched to Fenris Isle to go after 16-18s. I’m guessing that the talking head needs to go in a grave within the castle walls, but I only explored the southeast end of the island.

When I dinged, I had 3 Talent Points to expend because I couldn’t decide what to use them on individually. I have 5/5 in Wand Specialization because I’m doing so much grinding. I decided to use these 3 points on Spirit Tap. I literally never have to stop for mana now. I was doing a bubble, taking on 2 mobs, wanding them to death, renew, bubble, and just kept going. The server was having a hard time repopping them fast enough. It just eventually got too late to keep on going.

I’m doing some cross-training at work today, then off to a freelance housecall (yay for the computer needy), and back home to level before the 3:30 college football games. Yay for HD!

Peacebloom recall in The Barrens

September 21, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

Orgrimmar: 21 Sept 2006

Tainted Peacebloom is being recalled by Blizzard officials across all realms today out of fear of poisoning risks. This is stepping up the action taken last week to recall Peacebloom that has already been bagged and distributed in the AH. The actual poison suspected is not being released out of fear of copy-cat acts using other herbs in other zones.

“We are doing this out of the best interest of the toons living in and travelling in and out of The Barrens,” said Orgrimmar spokesorc, Oghigypitewie. “We deeply regret any inconveniences this may cause, as well as financial hardships to those lowbies out there. Please look at the bright side: at least it’s not affecting Golden Sansam or Mountain Silversage crops.”

Please stay tuned for further developments.

Horde is bad, I think

September 21, 2006 By Gitr 6 Comments

I’ve noticed one thing that bothers me about playing a Horde toon: the General Chat channel is terribly sophomoric. I cannot get over the number of juvenille things I’ve seen on the channel since I started seriously leveling Deadr.

It has forced me to /leave 1 every zone I go to. It’s totally unnecessary for all that chatter that EVERYONE has to see. Isn’t that what whispers are for? I know I like to give a good harassment to idiots and jerks from time to time, but I don’t make the whole server or zone watch it.

Oh, sure, I’ve seen that more often on Kargath playing an Alliance character, but I have over 50 DAYS of playtime for Alliance. I got on Dethecus to play with my cousin in Texas as an Orc warrior and had to /gquit after 7 levels because his guild was full of bad-mouthing short-bussers who were taking it to the next level by drawing pictures using the chat windows, trying to see who could draw the best rack.

So my basic premise is, I think that in an RPG, people with a bit more delinquency and other associated problems that generate the above behavior will tend to lean toward the “dark” side and play a Horde avatar.

This is certainly not the case with everyone, as some people play both sides, and others play as perfectly well-adjusted adults who can form good, solid, mature guilds. If there was a study on it, though, I’d bet that there are more societal outcasts on the Horde side. This idea is so engrained in my head from my past experiences on other realms that I actually had a decent amount of internal resistance to creating Deadr on Burning Legion. I finally figured I’d do the best that I could and be a priest. 🙂

Think of it this way: on how many Horde PvP’er blogs do you see them complaining about ganking?

Controversy time over. I’m working down the list from 10 Remarkably Effective Strategies for Driving Traffic. We’ll see which technique floats my boat next.

Template underway

September 20, 2006 By Gitr 1 Comment

I have found a design that I like. Now it is *just* a matter of gathering all of the WordPress IDs and classes from my existing template and making them work with it. The change is a total overhaul and probably more than I can bite off taking baby steps, so we’ll see how it goes.
