I broke the template this morning by updating the header, so I had to plug in this template for now. Sorry for the change of scenery that is soooo non-WoW, but drastic accidents call for drastic fixes. I’m not sure when I’ll get to fix the template, but after trying for 45 minutes, it’s not looking promising.
AH craziness
The AH on Kargath is way out of control right now, with it being such a mature server. Everyone has high-level toons now, or guildies that buy them what they need, so there’s no need to keep the prices of some of the essential level 60 mats or consumables.
Sunday, Major Healing pots were 13G for a 5 stack. Heart of Fires are not to be found. Herbs for raiding potions, forget it! The only way to get ahead in the market now is to get drops and sell them. It is not cost-effective to make healing, mongoose, swiftthistle, or rage pots at this point because the mats equal the selling price. Now, I made a nice penny off the pots that I got from Un’Goro and the soil that I harvested, but that’s small potatoes to what was going on before the summer.
Major playing time
Gitr got in some long hours last night. After some very unsatisfying AH work, it was off to Un’Goro to pick up the flight path to Marshall’s Point. After a while of slaughtering tar monsters and picking up some major healing potions, it was back to IF to sell off my loot. I brought up my cooking to 225 and attempted to get the mats necessary to go back to Tanaris to get to 300, but the AH was wiped clean. So I sent Grimr 50G and all the fish I made and logged Gitr.
Next up was Grimr. I took him to get stocked up on arrows, food, and sweet nectar and headed to Stranglethorn. I met Stitches along the way and had completely forgotten about Feign Death. Three seconds before I died, a lvl 60 mage showed up and did a real number on him. On to Stranglethorn again.
I went to my normal upper 30’s hunting ground (he was about 40% of the way through 37) to the 37s and 38s gorillas. I was getting 460 and 480 rested xp for those and did that until I stumbled on King Bag and made my way to the shadowmaw panthers that I still had the quest for. I killed 10 of them and finished off the tigers in the area to make my way to the expedition camp to turn in the quest. I came up 400xp short and had to kill some 31s to level. Next in the quest line is the Panther boss.
I hearthed back to SW and started buying up leather and bargain-basement prices until they ran out and started working on my leatherworking. 50G goes a long way in the 100s. I think I only spent 13g on skills, but got the products up to the level 20 range.
Playing again
Gitr’s creator is getting married, got promoted at work, and was having trouble with the WoW installation. Our registries are filling up with goodies, and my fiance has 2 showers this month (I hope for everyone’s sake she takes more showers this month than that).
Despite all of those things, Gitr playing again. We’re trying to figure out how much ‘alone time’ each of us will need when we’re co-habitating. Sunday, she came over and took a nap while I both listened to a sucky football game (Bucs and Ravens) and played WoW at the same time. That did me all right. I killed two birds with one stone. And tonight is a double-header MNF, too.
Thanks to some happy AH’ing, there is enough capital to do some major profiting or to spread the wealth to the alts to get them up to Gitr’s level. I’ve got every class now, as I’ve added a paladin and brought him up to level 8. I’m not really a fan of the fighting style for pallys, though, so I’m fairly certain I’ll keep at my warlock and priest.
I got some people really mad with my rogue last week because his backstab keeps ripping aggro when we go into the caves north of Redridge. I totally suck at playing the keys for rogue and end up hitting random things that don’t work because I’m not behind, or stunning things that instantly get unstunned because we’re all hitting it. I might shoot some money his way and get him some nice gear.
I’m also torn between my Blogger’s priest on Sen’jin and an undead priest on Twisting Nether. No one is playing on those servers any more, so there’s not much beyond getting some good stuff and leveling.
Lionheart Helm
Saturday afternoon I finally had enough mats to get a Lionheart Helm crafted. It’s only my fourth epic piece, after a ring, my Heroism gloves, and my gun. Slowly, but surely, I’m getting some gear.
Dual Microsoft Office Specialist Master
Today I completed my last two exams for Office XP and Office 2003 that brings my total to four exams per version and gives me the right to be certified as a MOS Master in both versions.
Pending management approval, I’ll be going to Orlando in September to take a course in presentation skills that will allow me to apply to be both an MOS Master Instructor and a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), both of which the Company will pay all the fees and dues associated with those.
It’s a really exciting time for our department for getting more recognition of our skillbase to justify our desires for increased compensation. These certifications are just screaming in their offices saying “competant computer engineers,” rather than simple red-line fixers that HR thinks we are.
Now that my brain is totally mush from taking 8 exams in 4 days, I’m going to veg tomorrow by playing WoW for hours.
