Gitr

Attuned for Blackwing Lair

May 24, 2006 By Gitr 2 Comments

Last night, we had an awesome group march into UBRS and practically zerg the place. It really lifted my spirits after a failed attempt at the 45 minute Baron run. We took down the Baronness and wiped with the group before the spider boss. The priest got silenced and I went down. The rest followed as they should. It was a good group, but we needed more dps.

I completed 2 quests with killing Drakk last night and regained confidence to take on the end of the instance. Our MT said he’d never seen Drakk conflag so much before. I think I took aggro about 10 times during the fight. After 3 or 4 times, I just put up my shield and started playing OT and doing my own sunders to get up on the table for when he lost aggro. No Sacred Charge or Breastplate of Valor, though.

Getting geared up

May 22, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

Gitr’s had a whirlwind weekend of new gear.

First, a public service message:

Do not play with a lot of money in had while tired early in the morning. In the AH, prices are sorted by the bid price. I was looking at the prices for Heart of Fire after getting the Thorium Brotherhood’s transmute recipe, and found some for 1g. Just above that, I saw one for 99. I assumed that it was 99s because it was above the others, and didn’t pay attention to the confirmation box, either. All of a sudden I was left with 13g in my bags when I had just opened all my successful auction mails to give me over 100g! DOH! Since I’d bought 3 things in a row, I ran to the mail with a sneaky suspicion that I paid 100g for a 1g item. I did. DON’T DO THAT!

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program. Check out Gitr’s profile to see why he’s so happy with his gear. It’s amazing what a really good Baron run will get you. To summarize his current Valor/Heroism pieces:

Spaulders of Valor
Bracers of Heroism
Gauntlets of Heroism
Belt of Heroism
Legplates of Valor
Boots of Valor

Baron also dropped me a nice helm, I already had his sword and cape.

Helm of the Executioner
Cape of the Black Baron
Skullforge Reaver

Looking at my gear, it looks life Baron runs have been quite good to me. Those items, Band of Flesh, Bone Slicing Hatchet, and a Seal of the Dawn have a very positive impact on my damage.

Saturday afternoon, I got to do a Scholo run and got a shield upgrade from the ghoul boss: Rattlecage Buckler.

It was sometime on Saturday that I realized a nice money-making scheme that involves a little travel and an item used in the Dungeon set upgrade quests. I’ll let you guys figure out what item it is that, if fetched, can bring in lots of money. I already started making Goblin Rocket Fuel by the bunches because they sell for about twice more than the cost of mats. On a side note, I sold all 12 Arcanite Bars that I had for my Lionheart helm to fund my dungeon set upgrades. It was sad to see all that money go, but I sure have a lot of nice gear now, and Grimr can keep making them with some Gitr crafting sprinkled in. I have all the other mats for it for when I’m ready.

I foresee many UBRS and Scholo runs until I get the Valor helm and breastplate. Tonight or tomorrow I’ll start working on the quest to start the banner to convert my next 3 pieces, which I gladly already have.

Soooo close

May 17, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I have 12 arcanite bars, but not enough Azerothian Diamonds. The AH was short of ones with a buyout. I tried to get my Thorium Brotherhood rep up, but there wasn’t enough iron up, either. I was willing to go kill incendisaurs for the scales, but that seems so unpleasant after I’d already bought 100 for 30s a couple of weeks ago.

I farmed for herbs for a while last night to get some money, and I’ll need some more to start up the AH game again. After 20 grubs without any larval acid, I’m due for a run of them. ร‚ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Lionheart helm

May 16, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

Assuming Gitr can get about 70g today, he and Grimr will make the last 2 arcanite bars required for his Lionheart Helm, which will easily be the best piece of equipment he owns. After forking over that much dough, it will be time to replenish the bank with some farming and AH work again.

Hopefully, a BRD run to the bar is possible tonightร‚ย to get the transmute recipes from the goblin in there. That should yield some much faster money generation than arcanite bars.

I just got back from Key Largo last night and only spent 20 minutes or so in EP looking for larval acid, and came up with nothing. I was eager to hit the hay after driving for 10 hours because of a fatality on I-75 around Sarasota. Traffic was backed up for miles. It should have been a 6-7 hour trip othewise.

Work sure is rough today, but I think I’ll survive if I get out of here to go to lunch with K at Quiznos.

Casual Raiders has Forums

May 11, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

It’s been a while since I put it up, but since no one is coming and joining Casual Raiders in droves, I’ll put it up here. If you have a 55-60 toon that wants to raid, but doesn’t have a set schedule for playing or your schedule conflicts with your current guild, go ahead and join the forums and let others know when you’ll be available.

I see the guild starting from the forums side first, and then as more people join and match up times to play, more people will join the guild.

Casual Raiders

Don’t forget, this will be a mostly un-maintained guild that will eventually have officers and leadership, but is for now going to be kept to letting people do more organized in-house “PuGs,” more or less.

Arcanite bars out the wazoo

May 11, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I leveled Gitr to 276 alchemy yesterday in just 3 hours. I don’t think I spent more than 40g doing it, either. Now, both Grimr and Gitr can make arcanite bars and will be pushing hard for a Lionheart Helm in a week or so.

It also makes me happy to know that I can put in the effort with the Thorium Brotherhood to get the rep for the Elemental Fire transmute recipe in BRD that I so badly want. On Kargath, I calculated one day that it only takes 46g to go from 700 rep to get to Friendly with them.

I leave for Key Largo tomorrow morning with my GF’s family and will try to bring my laptop and play the AH and make another 2 arcanite bars while gone. It’d be a crying shame to lose 2 bars because of a weekend trip. ๐Ÿ™‚
