DING

January 19, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I dinged with the help of Arrakis in Silithus. Gitr is now 56 and has several Silithus quests, too. It’s laundy and reading night, so I dinged and logged. I’ll write more, what little there is tomorrow.

BAH!! Not yet…

January 19, 2006 By Gitr 1 Comment

Well, folks, it didn’t happen. Gitr’s creator had a bad day at work. He is sitting at 28,000xp from level 56. Just 3 bubbles. I could not bring myself to go all the way back to Un’Goro for raptor grinding, but in hindsight that would have taken me to 56 the fastest.

I kept trying to get a BRD run going, but people were already in Scholo, DM, and signed on as their lowbie alts. I think I have 3 quests in BRD, 5 in Scholo, 3 in Strat, and still some more in ST. I picked up 3 for DM for when I hit 60. Our GM, Filetofish, told me to get something up on the forums if I want to do a run, that way people are prepared and don’t take other offers.

I went to WP and went after bears again and then ventured close to town to pick of the lvl 55 skeletal executioners. They are easy for me. The searing ghouls pack too much fire damage and the skeletal “mages” (forgot the fancy name they have) need to be interrupted too often. The interrupt in Berserker stance prevents a new spell for 6 seconds in -one school- of magic. They probably just switch schools, because the spells come faster than 6 seconds apart.

Another topic: how cold did it get? 39.4 about 25 miles north of downtown Tampa. I heard it was blustry and cold at the Tampa RV Show at the Florida State Fairgrounds, which is the largest RV show in the world. Robert De Niro’s 1,200 sq. ft. RV was there from what I heard. I think that’s about 40 sq. ft. less than my house. I kind of want to see that to see how it’s done.

Crazy day

January 18, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I’ve got a lunch deadline today. I got in at 5:45am and will post something from last night as soon as I get a chance. Promise.

Thanks for reading.

 Edit:

I finally got the rush out the door. Basically it’s a parts list for a single part of a simulator. It was just supposed to be the changed pages, but since we only had a hard copy, I had to scan, OCR, and paste into a custom-built table I made. It ended up being about 90 pages of 6 columns of numbers and letters, 160,000 characters, and took about 70 hours of my life. I’m so drained.

It’s getting cold here. What is cold for Tampa, you ask? It’s supposed to get to 38 in Tampa proper and they have issued frost warnings just 10 miles north of there. I walked out of the house in jeans and a polo shirt this morning. I have a big sweatshirt for leaving, and I’ll bet if I go walking with my girlfriend I’m really going to wish I had my new fleece-lined courduroy jacket.

Enough of that. That’s not why you read. You want WoW. WoW up the wazoo. I’ve got that for you today. Gitr ground and quested for 140,000xp last night. He wrapped up quests in Darnassus, Feathermoon, Tanaris, and Un’Goro. He went to Western Plaguelands and ground diseased bears and wolves and slaughtered raptors and apes in Un’Goro for about 2 hours. I finished the Tauren’s quests at the entrance of Un’goro. I got 7,600 xp for killing the lvl 56 raptor and 5,600 xp for killing the big ape in the cave.

My auction for the Plans: Arcanite Champion that I bought for 118G that was supposed to sell for 195G finally went for 145G. I saw one up later for 90G and bought it to try to turn it for a profit.

Try as I might, I could not get a group together to go to BRD, LBRS, Strat, Scholo. Not, nada, nuthin’. I was pretty miffed about the apathy, but maybe everyone had a bad day and wanted to be alone, but I sure could have used the group bonus that would combine with my rest through lvl 56. Maybe I can get a group tonight, but if not, I’m not going to waste my time. I WILL hit 56 tonight. I’m so close.

Well, hope you all had a better day than me, but it’s not a total waste. I still get to go chill with my honey. 🙂

Guilded again

January 17, 2006 By Gitr 1 Comment

Druidr started his lvl 14 poison quest last night. Rani/Aurora invited me into her guild that she started after leaving FoA for a while. Aurora came back, but Rani is her lvl 55 priest, and a darn good helper and friend. She and Cassiopia are always available within good time to help with a quest or answer questions, or to just talk to about my day. Sometimes no one is home when I get off, so it’s good to be able to chat while playing. I think that’s a lot better than IMing because that’s all there is to do when chatting. Type, wait, type, wait. I hate it.

He still has one more part to do and will stay in Darkshore to get herbs for awhile.

How about tonight?

January 17, 2006 By Gitr 2 Comments

I’ve been quite busy in RL and not getting as much play time as normal. Here’s the scoop. I really need to get organized and more presentable. I haven’t ever been good at being a neat person, but used to be quite fickle about my hair growing up. The part had to be just right, including that spiral in the back. I was late to school a couple of times because I had a “surfer’s curl” barrel wave in the back when I was about 12 years old.

Anyhoo. My room is somewhat messy. It’s been WAY way wayyyy worse, but I’d like to get everything in its place, toss stuff I won’t move out with me, and basically fumigate it for anything that may have decided to take up residence with me. That shouldn’t take too long.

My nagging problems that are always staring me in the face are my car and my general appearance. I think both will be easy to improve, but will just take a little extra time. As for my car, when I go out in the morning, I usually have an extra shirt or papers or something that I might want for the day. Every day I go out with my girlfriend, I’m sure to get a carry-out cup that goes in the console. What I don’t do is take my shirt in at night or throw the cup away. The next time I get a drink, I empty the old cup and put it behind my seat. I have a 4-door sedan. This allows for a lot of cups. I need a viable trash bag/can/incinerator solution for when I’m driving. I can’t be turning around throwing stuff away, but I can’t be all up in her space on the passenger side, either. Hmmm.

My appearance. That’s simple. I just need to make sure my eyelashes are debris-free, my beard is neat (I just trimmed it 1/8″ short), and that my clothes are wrinkle-free. That is the big thing. If I don’t take the clothes out of the dryer right away and hang them up, they will still be wrinkled when I put them on. Not badly enough to warrant an ironing to me, but it drives her up the wall when I’m out and about all day, then she sees me and wonders how many people saw my wrinkled clothes. My defense is that no one from work ever says anything about my clothes, but she’s probably right that they can’t talk to me like that, so they just don’t say anything.

So, getting this stuff straightend out is taking some time away from WoW, but I will get some good play time tonight.

Slow weekend

January 16, 2006 By Gitr 3 Comments

Nothing much to report today. It was a busy weekend. I had to go into work for about 6 hours on Saturday (Bah!) and got to play a little while doing laundry and waiting for the Denver game. Some would call it the Denver-New England game, but obviously only one team counted. Yay Broncos! Yay for first post-Elway post-season win!

Anyway, I got Druidr up to lvl 14 and went to the AH to do a scan with Gitr a little after halftime. As I logged in, it suddenly came up with the server shutdown time at 00:45 and counting. Next thing I know, I’m disconnected. I tried Twisting Nether to see what was up, and got on fine. Kargath wasn’t even listed as a server.

As I started an AH scan with little Gitr, I saw that The Forge, Pathos Hammer’s militia PvP posse, was heading out. All levels welcome and required for members. I bowed out because, gee, it was the end of the 3rd quarter and still way too close to call. A touchdown, fumble, and interception later, it was time to go back to my desktop for some PvP action.

Arathi Highlands is a very interesting place to be as a level 16 warrior. First, my agg radius is like 3 miles, and as a warrior I have to way to take agg off me. They spent half their time keeping me alive between battles. I died about 10 times, but got 28 HK during my alive times, without killing anyone myself. As soon as I level to 60, I’m playing Pathos Hammer more. That was fun.

I got the site I was freelancing fixed last night. It was a frustrating time with tags and which class id to use to get things to work. The issue was text being a ghostly gray in IE, but perfect with Firefox. That color was not listed anywhere in the .css file, but I eventually got it by changing the class, editing the class, and getting it to the right font and lowercase. I’m quite proud of it, now for some equally impressive Google placement like this site. 🙂 I hope it doesn’t take too long. The higher it goes, the bigger the bonus. Go front page!!

Question for Josh Dura, I can’t get the border to appear on linked images, and get it off images like the 24 book and blogshares. I see no way to differentiate the code for which images get outlines, like how the smiley face is crapped up now 🙁
