Updates Look Like They Are Here to Stay

June 26, 2007 By Gitr 5 Comments

Remember those 3 weeks when everyone was dancing in the streets because Tuesday maintenance updates were over? I can’t remember the last time there wasn’t a Tuesday maintenance server shutdown, besides it being some vague memory of a nice day after the expansion.

/sigh

RL is really busy now, and I didn’t even play after dinner last night. I logged in really quick to find Deadr had almost 950g. I bought more cloth and made more bags, but as of this morning they hadn’t sold yet. I won’t buy my fast mount until I have several hundred extra gold so I have something to work with on the AH.

Ding 65!! Finally “Done” With Zangarmarsh

June 24, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

I think I’ve only got 2 boss quests left in all of Zangarmarsh, Coilfang Reservoir excluded. I’ve traipsed around Terokkar Forest quite a bit already, so it took about 1/3-1/2 of TF and most of Zangarmarsh to complete level 64. I’m sick of that place and looking forward to Nagrand, which I have already ventured to pick up the flight point for.

I got to disenchant an awful lot to rewards the last 2 days because they were all leather or plate stuff. That sucked, and I didn’t get any good shards.

Well, I’m really busy editing a book for a friend today before classes start, so I’d best get back to that.

Hopefully level 66 (Shadow Fiend) comes faster than the 22 hours for 65.ย  The AH was one big black hole for Deadr, although it did make his coffers bust out nicely.

The Many Playing Aspects of World of Warcraft

June 22, 2007 By Gitr 7 Comments

One of the things that has kept me continuously interested in WoW for almost 2 years is how many different things one can do to keep the throws of boredom away. The only time I have ever been fed up with playing was when I was in the middle of a level and had nothing to do to get to the next level but grind. That really sucks, but only if your single-minded goal is getting to the next level.

I consider myself to be an intellectual gamer. By that, I mean that even when I’m relaxing by playing a game, I’m not brain-dead. I am constantly figuring out better ways to play, new things to do, and basically trying to know everything possible about the game. Some people just play to have fun, but for me playing with intent is fun.

Here are some of the many things I have done to stay on top of my game:

  1. Game mechanics
  2. Instances
  3. Quests
  4. Professions
  5. Auction Hall profiteering
  6. Powerleveling
  7. Guild-leading
  8. Blogging about WoW
  9. Giving in to my inner alt-aholic
  10. Trying both PvP and PvE

Right now, Huntr is at 50 and getting bored with Tanaris, so he’s camping out Humar the Pridelord again and will move to Blasted Lands to try a shot at Grubber (I think that’s his name). I hear he has a 36-48 hour respawn, but at least he has a limited range, too.

The powerleveling is wearing me down because of the lack of content to my posts lately. So… I’m making it official:

Would any of you, my dear, fine readers, mind if I stopped my powerleveling at level 50 and we’ll just know that I can get to 50 really fast and have huge kahonas for not running instances for 50 levels? Man, I missed SM, RFD, and Maradon. That makes me somewhat sad, and I don’t want to miss out on BRD or UBRS/LBRS.

New Content? You Got It!

June 20, 2007 By Gitr 7 Comments

Since Velen was down tonight, I got on Deadr and found out how poorly I play a priest now. Sheesh! They need to drink a LOT! Talk about down time. It was driving me nuts. Then again, I still never came remotely close to dying.

I completed the Feralfen quests in Zangarmarsh and got a great trinket upgrade: Ancient Crystal Talisman. It wasn’t quite a no-brainer, but close. I was tempted to get the bracers for my reward, but they were hardly worth not getting full Netherweave Cloth set for them. Besides, I think with the set bonus I would lose, they just didn’t cut it.

I ran to the North and killed Boss Grog’ak after it took him about 4 minutes to spawn exactly where he should. He didn’t call for any help and I wasted him in about 20 seconds.

After I turned that in, I got on Gitr for a few minutes, got frustrated with the UI while killing about 5 orc, and logged for the night.

It’s getting late now, so after setting this to post early in the morning, I leave you with Deadr resting at the inn:

Is Everyone on Vacation?

June 19, 2007 By Gitr 17 Comments

Gitr just called me. He’s concerned that everyone is on vacation or jumping ship to other games. He was looking at the traffic stats recently and has noticed a drop in numbers on the site, but it’s an unusual trend going on…

For some reason, the stats per incoming activity are remaining level, as in Google isn’t crapping out, people aren’t coming via bookmarks less often, or anything odd like that. Traffic is low across the board. Yet subscriptions are on the rise. My Feedburner stats are reporting over a 20% rise in subscribers, but a 40% decrease in site visits. Strange.

Is this a new trend we are seeing? I asked a fellow blogger with very high traffic, and they said that quite a few blogs are reporting lower traffic numbers fitting this description.

I know I haven’t been posting like I used to, but that doesn’t explain the increase in subscribers. Maybe WoW is losing its appeal… finally.
