Making Life Difficult for Me

May 22, 2007 By Gitr 11 Comments

I had my annual review today. I have 2 things to say about that:

  1. I really like the evaluation I was given and hope a good increase comes from it. I’d say more, but they might be watching. /glance side to side /look over shoulder
  2. I had to make a deal to stop blogging at work. It kind of sounded like I could either blog or keep my job. I choose my job.

I will be allowed to stay on Gmail all day long and I have chat available. I can keep my Yahoo! Launchcast radio going. I can download WoW podcasts using my Netvibes. I can even respond to posts and such during lunch. Alas, my days of posting 4 times per day are over, but I’m not going anywhere. There will still be daily posts, I just won’t be able to respond to moderated comments as soon or reply to questions in comments until lunch or when I go home.

I think that in the end that is a small price to pay.

Broken Because of Patch 2.1.0

May 22, 2007 By Gitr 2 Comments

I would estimate that about half of the mods I use are broken now. It was very disheartening to get on, not have any spam, and not really want to play with a boogered up UI. I killed kobolds for a while, then made my way through two circles of binding to get to the ogres, only to realize that I had forgotten to accept a quest in Hammerfall.

Too discouraged to go on, I got on Bankr, only to realize that Auctioneer truly is broken and was not available for use.

I logged. /sigh

Ding 36; Lots of new Gear

May 22, 2007 By Gitr 6 Comments

I hit 36 after about 15 minutes of grinding trolls and working my way back to Grom’gol killing crocs and basilisks. I even took out one of the 38 Elite Elder Saltwater Crocodiles along the shore. That was fun and satisfying. /played time: 2d 4h 14m.

I trained up in Grom’gol and went to UC to turn in the Silk donation and to fly to Hammerfall. Just for kicks and grins, I hopped on the AH as I passed by to see if there was a better ranged weapon available. That was when my heart skipped a beat and I saw my favorite ranged weapon to date: Swiftwind. I got this for Grimr back in the day and ran him through DM to level it. He got to the ship okay at level 37 or so. I leveled this baby on the critters and trolls of Arathi Highlands. It’s fully skilled now, and killing kobolds.

I didn’t stop there. I bought a new headband, shoulders, Deadly Kris of Arcane Wrath, Shadowskin Gloves, and Tigerbane. Huntr has over 1,600 HP and Mana now and Tiggr is well on his way to becoming my best friend.

When you combine Dash and the extra DPS of my new crossbow (27, up from 19) and tack on the +Arcane damage of my dagger to my Arcane Shot, I’m peeling off HP faster than yesterday morning. We’ll see if it makes a difference in my leveling speed.

My immediate plans are to get Huntr to 40 and then do the same with Paladr. What are you current goals or plans with your toons?

Starcraft 2 Finally Announced

May 22, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I went to [tag]World of Warcraft[/tag]’s home page this morning to see about [tag]Patch 2.1.0[/tag] coming out, and was presented with this screen and link about [tag]Starcraft 2[/tag] coming out.

I am for sure going to buy the game. How about you?

Here are some goodies from the FAQ on the site:

When is the game coming out?
At this point, it’s too early to provide an initial estimate on the release date. As with all Blizzard games, we will take as much time as needed to ensure the game is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible.
How will StarCraft II be different from StarCraft?
StarCraft II will run on a vibrant new 3D-graphics engine that will be capable of rendering beautiful landscapes as well as massive individual units and army sizes. We’re also introducing a number of distinct new units to the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg, and even some of the familiar units that return in StarCraft II will have new tricks up their sleeves, which will give the game its own unique flavor.

In addition, Battle.net will be overhauled with some new and exciting features to enhance online play and competition, while the story-mode campaign will also offer some unique aspects for players who enjoy single-player content. We’ll have more details on all these aspects in the months to come.

Will there be both single-player and multiplayer components?
Yes, StarCraft II will include a unique story-mode campaign, as well as multiplayer capability over Battle.net. We’ll provide more detail on both of these aspects a little further along in the development process.

Ding 35; Minutes from 36

May 21, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I wrapped up level 34 early last night and had 11 quests to put me to level 36 this morning. My work fell short of the mark, so I have to grind for a while to hit 36 and train at Grom’gol to save time. I’m fighting the Headhunters and Witch Doctors on the coast for good level 36-37 XP and getting decent coinage and green drops, too. I hit level 35 in 2d 1h 52m.

I tamed a level 34 Elder Stranglethorn Tiger, only to find that it was the level 32 Stranglethorn Tigers that had Dash (Rank 1). It took about 15 minutes to use it enough to learn it and re-train an Elder again. I named him Tiggr. How appropriate. 🙂 He looks just like him, too.

I didn’t read far enough ahead in the guide to know more than I need to hit level 36, train, zep to UC, and turn in 60 silk cloth before heading to Hammerfall to do one of my favorite things: Triage!!! Yay for level 300 First Aid again. It’s the second-easiest profession, behind Skinning. If you have the mats, though, Alchemy is pretty darn simple, too. Grimr was a 300 Alchemist at level 35.
