Phil Gerbyshak Speaks at SOBCon

May 12, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

Phil GerbyshakAuthor of 10 Ways to Make it Great, Phil is known as The Relationship Geek.

What is a geek? Smart, conversation, funny, expert, passionate. If you are those things, you are a geek. How can you take your blog to the next level and be a bigger SOB? Not to our families, but to the blogosphere. ๐Ÿ™‚

Phil started with a Blogger blog and wrote quotes and junk that wasn’t himself. Someone called him out on his blog and told him it sucked…it wasn’t him! No one was reading, commenting, or anything that blogging gives you back in return.

Blogging is not meant to be done alone. We need to have a relationship to have fun. There are 75 million blogs, and 110 people here. We can build relationships and a community here to take our blogs higher.

Core competancy: know yourself first. What is your message? [Read more…] about Phil Gerbyshak Speaks at SOBCon

Good Auctioning in the AH…Super Sale

May 12, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I mentioned taking some poor fool for a ride with some Core of Earths. Well, it sold yesterday sometime during the opening night festivities here. I got up to my room and hooked up with the T-Mobile Hotspot and found a nice auction sale sitting in my mailbox for 23g after the AH’s take.

That one sale took me to 42g while I still had auctions up at the time. I’m estimating that I have 100g in the bank and in the market right now. It would be great to be the first to 200g, especially since I’ve bought over 30g in armor and weapons so far.

I just can’t say enough about how awesome things are going after working up my new mace.ย  Things often don’t have time to run away before they get smacked with a 75-175 point hit. I love a good crit from a blue mace.

I’ll be on from time to time today to check the auctions and show the people what the “WoW thing” is all about.

Morning at SOBCon…Waiting for Breakfast

May 12, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I set my cell phone alarm for 5:40 and got ready with my usual checking the blog, traffic, affiliate love, and checked my WoW auctions. I packed my bags because I didn’t know when checkout is. When I came downstairs to get my room bill, I was told it is at 12:00, but they can hold my bag at the concierge for free.

I’m sitting in the luxurious lobby with this clunky laptop to get geek sympathy votes…or maybe to have coffee/coke with Liz. Here she is. Time to go.

SOBCon07 Is Everything I’d Hoped So Far

May 12, 2007 By Gitr 1 Comment

Today was a great day in the history of my blogging. I got to the hotel right at 6:00 and had time to go up to my room to put my carry-on in my room and get back downstairs. I met Liz Strauss right off the bat as I got my badge. Boy, she’s tall…or I’m short…or both.

I walked around the room and met Phil Gerbyshak, Mike Sansone, Tony Clark, Easton Ellsworth, Lisa Gates, Mike Rohde, Kent Blumberg, Troy Worman, Terry Starbucker, Chris and Lisa Cree, Joe Haucks, Dawud Miracle, and Muhammed Saleem and many more that I didn’t get their cards or put their cards in a different pocket than these.

It’s 12:30 according to my body clock, so I’m going to log into WoW to say “hi” to the guys and go to bed, because breakfast is a very late 7:00 CDT. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sitting at the Airport

May 11, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

Here I am sitting at the terminal waiting for boarding. It had to throw away my calorie drinks because they were too big. ๐Ÿ™ I booted up my laptop to find that the battery had drained to 4 minutes, so I made my way to an empty gate to plug into the Matrix and juice up.

Time to check out the blog stuff going on with the other SOBCon folks all converging today and get some game time in before my flight.

YAY for early Friday World of Warcraft.

Packed and Ready to Go to SOBCon07

May 11, 2007 By Gitr 6 Comments

I packed my laptop bag last night and got my [tag]digital camera[/tag], [tag]business cards[/tag], and did online check-in. I got in to work early to get some hours in before heading to the airport. My wife is picking me up so we can keep my car at home.

We’ll stop at Subway on the way to TIA and I’ll scoot right through security with my carry on and start blogging and playing [tag]World of Warcraft[/tag] on my 4 1/2 year old laptop. The graphics and memory suck and it’s died with a full motherboard replacement twice while under warranty. No warranty now, so I’m going to run it until it dies.

I’ve got my latest [tag]Clive Cussler[/tag] paperback, Black Wind, for my reading pleasure on the plane (when I’m not sleeping). I had a hard decision between [tag]Ted Bell[/tag] and Cussler, but I went with the lighter one. Sorry, Ted. Speaking of Ted, that’s what I’m flying, so watch the news to make sure I get there okay. I convinced (not really) my wife that if anything happens to the pilot in any situation, including her biggest post-9/11 fear, when we regain control, I can land the plane.

Now we’re getting off-topic, but this is my blog, so you’ll keep reading. / sly grin. I’ve been flying flight simulators for years. I was landing F-16s, F-14s, 747s, Cessnas, and all kinds of WWII planes 8 years before I could get behind the wheel. I learned the mechanics and glide slope and instrument panels, and studied flight for endless hours as a boy in rural Ohio. When I was 15, my neighbor let me take the stick on his experimental plane and fly it around for about 30 minutes.

When we moved to Tampa, one of our good friends at church was an engineer at a flight simulator company, and he invited my dad and me in to fly one of the big cargo planes. At 16, I landed that puppy every time; and then I got a job at that same company (where I am now) and landed it again whenย I got another shot at it,ย so I don’t see an [tag]Airbus A300[/tag] being a problem.

I’ll send you all a happy “hello” again from Chicago.
