Ding 14; Huntr Is in Ghostlands

April 20, 2007 By Gitr 7 Comments

Huntr got to levels 12 and 13 last night and hit 14 this morning and logged right away to get to work. The process is going pretty smoothly for starting out with absolutely no money or equipment support. The biggest adjustments are:

  • no healing potions
  • no big bags (I’ve had 3 6-slotters drop)
  • not always enough to train (that is over now)

I got Butterbanker to SM and bought a couple of things for 2s in hopes that they go for 10-12s like they should. Huntr is doing okay with money now, so I will start sending Butterbanker money after each training session.

Leveling with a hunter is certainly easier than it was with a mage, as there is positively no downtime right now. Unless I do something stupid, I also have no fear of dying, but that’s not to say I haven’t. I hate murlocs, by the way.

/played 6h 34m – see Huntr’s progress on his Journey Page to the right. Yay for Joana’s Guide. I’m following it to the T (with the possible exceptions of training out of order), so these are the results the guide gives you.

How to Transfer Your WoW Toons

April 19, 2007 By Gitr 6 Comments

You have been playing a toon long enough you don’t want to leave them behind as you move to a new server for any number of reasons; queues, spamming, old enemies, ex-significant others, etc. Almost all of us have abandoned a toon or two or ten. So, how do you move them over? Here is [tag]how to transfer your WoW toons[/tag] 101.

The process is actually pretty simple. First, [tag]Blizzard[/tag] has a bunch of rules associated with transfers, but they can mostly be boiled down into several points. Check out their official info for the most up-to-date server statuses at World of Warcraft Billing. You will need to enter in your account name and password and it will also check what realms are available for transfer at that moment.

Now for the guidelines according to the Blizz FAQ: [Read more…] about How to Transfer Your WoW Toons

Ding 11; Huntr Is Hunting Away

April 19, 2007 By Gitr 13 Comments

I finished his level 10 quest this morning and dinged 11 (/played 4h 5m, putting him 18m ahead of Frostr) just in time to log off and go to work. I was unable due to a complete lack to funds to have gear good enough to do some of the quests that I wanted to at the proper level, but now that I have a pet, I’ll tear right through them.

I also confirmed that my instructions on my Level 10 Blood Elf Hunter Quest Walkthrough are correct, and I took more screenshots to prove it. If it’s not working this way, one of two things is happening: you are not level 10 or you are not a hunter. If those two things are not the case, then contact a GM and tell them Gitr sent you. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m posting these shots and stuff in the walkthrough when I’m done here.

What Makes for a Good Move?

April 18, 2007 By Gitr 15 Comments

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the guild lately; probably ten times more than I want to let my wife know about. It’s not really been a stressful time, but I do feel some immediate sense of a need to succeed. We have a very good group of players, all of whom have toons over 60 on their own realms and have gone out of their way to re-roll and run with other bloggers. Now we are either re-rolling or transferring, possibly wasting days of playing to abandon a toon or two.

We had enough people (at times, myself included; just look at my [tag]ganking[/tag] rants on the blog) who are feeling unwelcome on [tag]Burning Legion[/tag] by the other faction. Being the insensitive type that I am, I just passed it off as whining for a while, and then I realized that I have been getting pissed a bit more than normal myself. I had gone through the upper 50s with Deadr without too much trouble because people were either my level or too busy playing in [tag]Outlands[/tag] to bother him.

We discovered that [tag]Kargath[/tag] was over-populated, that some didn’t want to RP, and others still want PvP. [Read more…] about What Makes for a Good Move?

Velen Is Our New Home

April 18, 2007 By Gitr 24 Comments

After much deliberation and polls and asking and e-mails, the prevailing winds have sent us to [tag]Velen[/tag]. It is a PvE server with a “Recommended” population status. Server time is -07:00. I only experienced lag when my Internet dropped me last night and I wasn’t able to get back on until this morning.

My toon, your new GM is Huntr, a [tag]Blood Elf[/tag] [tag]hunter[/tag], of course. If you want, start any race you want, and we’ll meet up in Kalimdor and such around level 20. I’m at the halfway through level 6 with 69 minutes of /played time. (I’m 10 minutes ahead of Frostr’s pace)

I will create a bank and auction toon tonight so we can pool money and get the guild charter faster. Nothing will change as far as the guild goes, just our home. I am assured that we will have new players joining the ranks on this PvE realm.

To those who want PvP, there are PLENTY of people who run around with their flag up, so if you want to leave it up at all times, by all means, have fun PvPing. I remember the days in IF on Kargath, you’d see a pretty fair mix of green and blue names running around.

I think we should coordinate professions on the forums today, and see how much money we can make. Edit: Thanks for doing that, Lance.

Here is my new RPG profile: Huntr of Velen.

Feed-Stealers Beware

April 17, 2007 By Gitr 2 Comments

I have found a method of solving those pesky feed-stealers.

  1. You must have a current [tag]Creative Commons License[/tag] posted that covers any infringement.
  2. You must be able to track their IP address from your trackbacks, pingbacks, or spam folder.
  3. You must provide a link to your actual posts.
  4. You must contact the DNS provider/host for the domain. I used [tag]Network-Tools.com[/tag].
  5. You must be able to support that they are infringing upon your [tag]copyright[/tag].

Today I was able to do that against someone who has been stealing my feed for weeks. It only took an hour or so to get the whole thing done, and now I’m seeing a satisfying message on their domain:

This Account Has Been Suspended

Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible.
