Ding 21; Exalted with Tranquillien

April 5, 2007 By Gitr 4 Comments

It was a fine time doing stuff all by my lonesome doing questing and following Joana’s Horde Leveling Guide pretty closely. There are a couple of times that I’ve done a quest that I didn’t need to, or gone to a trainer when he didn’t say, but then again, I can teleport. When you aren’t playing straight through, too, you can use hearth more often to fly to a city and then hearth back when he says in the guide.

Kelthias asked me in guild chat last night how I like the guide. I LOVE it! I have all of the maps I need, all the paths to take, all the areas to find kill quest mobs, videos for help, and it’s all in an organized manner to eliminate backtracking.

/played:  18h 28m @ level 21.

Where’s Frostr?

April 5, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

Frostr hasn’t seen much playing time this week because of all the crap after work that’s been going on. I got him to X-roads and Camp Turajo last night and completed 2 quests this morning. I’m still a ways away from leveling, so it looks like it will be more than 2 hours for this level. 🙁

I logged in Deadr this morning to make Frostr a pair of Spidersilk Boots and enchanted them with Minor Speed before sending them away. They were for sale for 12g, but I made them for 8g. Yay for uber alts. He still needs to get the staff from the Ghostlands quest in Deatholme, but I can always teleport now. 🙂 That may save as much time on the guide as not having Aspect of the Cheetah. I have access to Org, UC, and SM. I believe TB is at level 30 or 40.

Get Linked: A Contest! Comment or Lose…

April 5, 2007 By Gitr 19 Comments

After receiving comments and several private e-mails, I pared down my link list…a LOT. Some of you will notice that only a few remain, and it looks like I probably deleted a few that I want to put back up (sorry Problogger!). Looking at other blogs, the list is still too long and needs to be cut back some more.

I propose a contest. We all like sales, shows, and contests, right?

I will be deleting links to blogs that don’t leave a comment to this post. Some will stay just by virtue that I love your blog, but if you read on, you will see a bonus to commenting and such. There are some rules, of course:

  1. No gold-farming, pay-to-level, or questionable sites will get a link.
  2. It must be updated at least weekly. If I go there and the last post was December…well, get on the ball.
  3. Follow rules 1 & 2.

IF you write a review on your blog of my blog, or especially your favorite post on my blog, then I will assign you a higher rank than the others and will see about displaying the list according to rank.

The deadline is Monday morning when I come in to work around 6:30am.

EDIT: I don’t want anyone to think this is being harsh. I loved having my link list, but it was the longest thing on my site. This excellent comment by Josh was what pushed me off my butt to do some house-cleaning:

Your page shouldn’t be 2/3 links, 1/3 content at any viewing “angle”.

While horizontally, this will still be the case, it won’t have the amount of content to scroll through and detract from my writing.

Registered and Booked for SOBCon 07

April 5, 2007 By Gitr 7 Comments

I got all of my ducks in a row yesterday and got my plane ticket, hotel room, and registered for SOBCon 07!

I’m a-goin’ and I’m gonna love it! My plane arrives barely in time for the grand opening on Friday night, but I’m only doing a carry-on, so it will just be a matter of notifying the hotel of my flight for the shuttle. I leave at 7:00 the next day, giving me enough time to get back to the airport and through security to be home a mere 30 hours after I left the day before.

I have several parties to thank, though I did not give permission to use names, so here are some generalities:

  • For sponsoring my admission costs, I thank one of Liz’s readers who is unable to attend.
  • For sponsoring my plane ticket, I had 7 contributions that came out to $5.30 more than what I needed. Nothing wasted at all, as I’m sure 2 Cokes at the airport will take care of that. Thank you.
  • For sponsoring my hotel bill, I thank one of the speakers who has bestowed some tasks upon me in preparation. What I most love about that deal is, despite needing to complete work, I am taking what I was asked to do as an honor and a privilege.

I know this blog isn’t about blogging or writing, but those skills play a major role in the content that you read every day, and I hope that when I return your experiences will all reap massive benefits from what I learn and experience in Chicago.

Apologies to Firefox Users

April 5, 2007 By Gitr 4 Comments

I went home yesterday to check how the blog looks on Firefox, and I was horrified at how the sidebars look. I worked on it for an hour, but had many other things on my checklist for the night, so they will just have to look like that for a while.

There is something in the automatic code for the lists that adds tags that it will take a while to sort out. Some things change the Explorer look, others the Firefox look, but nothing makes them both look the same. Yet.

Please bear with me.

Did that fix it now? I think I found the code in the widget plugin and edited an extra li /li out. Firefox users, speak up, or forever…bah, I’ll see it when I get home in 10 hours.

My Dad’s Motorcycle Accident

April 4, 2007 By Gitr 12 Comments

My dad is being seen by an orthopedic surgeon today after totalling his 2000 Kawasaki Concours Sunday afternoon. He will have his right wrist and his left thumb operated on to repair damage done by the handlebars when he did his aerial acrobatics. Surgery is tomorrow, but a time has yet to be set in stone.

Please send him some lovin’ and check out all of his pictures; fireworks, Katria damage, his bike (in pristine condition), and his lovely random photos. He’s quite the photographer IMHO. Leave a message and put up a link if you’d like.

He’s told me that he will be posting the wreck pics after he crops and color adjusts them for the insurance adjuster. He can’t leave a good photo “good.” It’s got to be GREAT.

Jerry Petersen’s Webshots Albums

Here is the forums thread that his riding partner posted about the wreck:

Jerry Petersen’s COG Forum Thread

If you like that stuff, I’m going to set him up a WP blog on my host for him to post away and keep in touch when they move back to Roatan, Honduras permanantly to run radio station HRGS. They went for 2 1/2 years before, but now that I’m hitched to the most wonderful wife in the world, he said, “meh, why not move back for good?” They need some more support and to get their house sold, and then they’re gone.
