What Keeps a Guild ‘Casual?’

December 14, 2006 By Gitr 2 Comments

We are having a Loot/Attendance/Expansion discussion in Core on our forums. Graytail made a very good point today:

We are a casual guild with a population including some leaning more towards serious raiding–which is great for synergy.  At some point however, conversations on this thread make it sound like we are moving away from being a casual guild–correct me if I am wrong.  I /agree with Janick’s previous comments of don’t equate a non 100% attendance rate as a lack of dedication to the guild or its players.

I replied with the following:  [Read more…] about What Keeps a Guild ‘Casual?’

Uldaman Down

December 14, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I finally used the LFM last night. I got Wakarathe, a guildie 60 mage, to join me and I found a husband/wife duo of 45s rogue and shaman to join us. We went in the back door and cleaned out the entire instance with no deaths, thanks to Klik. I was back in the saddle again, and I healed in the highest instance yet.

After we took out the big stone woman in the map room, I got her blue cloth leggings, went into her chamber and my computer completely locked. [Read more…] about Uldaman Down

Blog$hares Is a Fun Fantasy Stock Market

December 14, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I joined BlogShares in January, and it has been pretty fun, especially if you can do it when things are slow at work. I started out with some trading here and there with my Blog Dollars (B$). I know, I know, that sure looks like BS, to some, and I think that is some of the appeal. After 4 days, I was hooked and added my blog and signed up for the Premium account.

I have a system down where I buy a ton of blogs and put them in a folder waiting for the cooldown period to end, and then move them into a Selling folder as I sell them a bit at a time, waiting for their P/E ratio to increase. It is really more of a science than an art, but people can throw monkey wrenches into your plans.

Everyone with enough money, chips, and karma can use things called Artifacts that create effects on other blogs. They can do things such as double/half the share price, elbow in to get some shares, buy out everyone, etc.

If you have a blog, or if you just want to have fun acting like a day trader without any risk, give it a go.

If you sign up, leave a comment or e-mail me, and I will send you 200 shares of Gitr’s WoW Blog, currently valued at B$365, until I get low on my own shares.

Exponential Growth in Visits

December 13, 2006 By Gitr 5 Comments

It seems that Gitr’s WoW Blog is experiencing exponential growth right now. As of today, the blog has over 200 more visits this month than in all of October. November was really crazy because of a link from Tobold’s blog that put me on the map for two wild days of clicking away.

This is nothing like the growth that DM Osbon has had. His blog is very young, yet on December 6th, he had 8,500 hits! He has been averaging about 500 hits per day, so he is offering people what they want, evidenced in his visitors coming from direct bookmarks, not searches. Congrats, DM Osbon! ClickHeal becomes Klik

December 13, 2006 By Gitr 3 Comments

I got word from my guildies that the maker of ClickHeal updated his addon to version 2.0 and renamed it Klik.

http://wow.curse-gaming.com/en/files/details/5102/klik/

I grabbed it yesterday and set it up using the same commands as I have been used to for so long. It worked like a charm, but I think it is missing a lot of features. All I saw last night was the enablement to click the portraits and get the action you want. There was no setting page for announcements or GUI or anything else I liked about ClickHeal. I could be wrong, and mine could be broken, or it could be because it is Beta and people are complaining to high heaven about it.

Still, it got the job done. Get it if you are still nervous about healing without a mod.

Affliction Tree with a Priest Rocks; Ding 43

December 13, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I logged on last night to a nearly-instant whipser from Rhone, Core’s 60 Affliction Warlock. He is bored until BC and wants to level me as fast as we can so Core can have another priest from time to time. The idea was to round up mobs, for him to put 2 DoTs per mob, and run around with a bubble. Then he would do that health transfer to his succubis and I’d heal him back. When I wasn’t doing damage myself, it was non-stop action with no downtime to drink. I think we’ll be doing this a lot, especially if I hit 60 in time for Burning Crusade.

He met me in Tanaris as I was rounding up Rogues, Assassins, and Mages. I got jumped by Caliph Serpentsting twice that morning, and we saw him 3 times last night. The sky must be falling or Hell must be freezing over, because he’s ALWAYS required a manhunt. [Read more…] about Affliction Tree with a Priest Rocks; Ding 43
