A Plugin to Help You Give TMI: Ploppy

November 20, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I was clicking around the bottom of the WordPress Dashboard and found the most outrageous plugin ever: Ploppy. The link on WP Dashboard looks innocent enough, but then click it to read what Ploppy is.

WP Plugin: PloppyA WordPress plugin for describing the state of your bowel movements using the Bristol Stool Scale. Is bowel movement blogging really that necessary? But you know, Everyone Poops.

I don’t think I will be using this plugin any time soon, but omg, this is too funny.

The Journey to 40 Part 1: (1-10)

November 20, 2006 By Gitr 1 Comment

Welcome to the first in a 4-part series on leveling a toon to 40. This experience is going to cover both PvP and PvE and Horde and Alliance, as I have pretty much done both. Gitr has been 60 forever, with Grimr being 38 forever, and Deadr just just turned 38 on a PvP server. Deadr will hit 40 on Friday, November 24th.

The first level is the easiest. If you have a 10-kill quest, you will hit level 2 before the quest is over. 🙂 YAY! Cheer, celebrate, get drunk, because this is the fastest level you will have. I try to get to level 5 before leaving the sheltered area for each race. I do this so I can immediately go to a city or town and learn some tradeskills to start earning money. Of course, earning money is only important if it is your first toon on that server. When starting on a new server, I pick 2 gathering skills. If you have a chance, compare prices of a stack of items, such as light leather, peacebloom, and copper ore to see which is the most lucrative.

For levels 5-10, I run kill quests like nuts. For Alliance, that was either around Ironforge, Darnassus, or Strormwind. For the Horde, run around Undercity, Orgrimmar, and Thunder Bluff. These levels go very fast if you combine killing with turning in quests. For an added challenge, try to hit level 10 without dying, but not holding back, either.

There is not much of a difference at all between PvP and PvE for getting to level 10, because most other-faction players will stay away from other-faction land. Contested land is fair game on PvP servers, which I found out right away with Deadr in Hillsbrad.

Things get much trickier for PvP servers after level 10, as you have to venture out into contested territory to gain XP. The paths I will take you on between the 2 server types varies a lot, so the next in the series will be much more interesting as you begin to die at the hands of the enemy.

Part 1: (1-10)
Part 2: (11-20)
Part 3: (21-30)
Part 4: (31-40)

Deadr hits 38, killed by rogue

November 20, 2006 By Gitr 3 Comments

I hit 38 last night after only 10 Drywhisker Kobolds in Arathi Highlands. They are pretty nice XP and repop pretty fast. The thing I hate about them is that they run. I HATE runners. This morning I moved over to the Cresting Exiles next to Hammerfall. They don’t break my bubble and don’t run. I love that kind of grinding. I saw Fozruk, too. I’ll wait a bit to take him on.

While you’re out and about clicking today, go check out Blessing of King’s article on Quests that Should Have Been Epic. It’s a terrific post that was well thought out and worth checking your questlog to see if you have begun any of them. Also make sure you check out anything you want to know about Deadr’s current gear or skills at his profile page.

I made a big mistake yesterday afternoon against a rogue, Hoganshero. He was level 34 while I was still level 37. I ventured down from the Kobold area to get the Axe Throwers and Witchdoctors, mining along the way. At one troll area, I saw a rogue with about 7% health left, so I Shadow Word: Pain’d him. He vanished and must have popped a health. When he reappeared, I wanded him to death with about 2 hits.

I really need help with PvP stuff if I’m going to survive on this server. Does anyone have tips for Priest vs Rogue? I was at a loss of what to do other than Psychic Scream and run. I can’t deal with stuns.

My first instinct was to run back to the Kobold area so he doesn’t come back for revenge, but I second-guessed it because he was ‘only’ 34. Big mistake. He came back and whupped my butt in about 10 seconds. I came back and stayed in a pond while my mana started to regen. Next thing I know, I’m on my way to being dead again. The next rez I did, I stayed underwater, but he was actually a smart player and knew that would be what I would do. I finally rezzed and Screamed so I could get back to Hammerfall.

Reporting From Kargath

November 18, 2006 By Gitr 9 Comments

Deadr got off his butt and ran all the way from Tauren Mill to Kargath in Badlands this morning. No PvP deaths to speak of. I only saw one Alliance player: a 37 hunter in the middle of fighting a coyote in Badlands. I went to Hammerfall along the way to pick up the flight point and a couple of Arathi Highland quests that I’m going to dump now that I made it to Badlands. Gitr did a LOT of grinding in the upper 30s to about 43 there. Deadr will do the same.

I did die once. It was completely stupid. I was going East in Wetlands thinking that off on the edge was a Horde town because it was somewhere Gitr never went. I switched to the map after I discovered the new area, the gates to Grim Batol. I have never seen anything about Grim Batol, so I’ll have to look that up at home. Anyway, I was on auto-run and switched back to see Deadr get two-shotted into deadness.

I healer rezzed and started running for Dun Algaz with my bubble up. I thought I would be able to get a wind rider point halfway through the tunnels, but they were Dragonmaw orcs, and not very friendly. Knowing I was almost there and not about to meet any mobs that could kill me before my 10 minute sickness wore off, I was re-energized and got to Kargath before I knew it.

Now for some good grinding with minimal bother in the early morning. Note: I also changed my hearth home back to Undercity.

Martek the Exciled

November 17, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I will be hunting for a good way to get into the Badlands in the morning. I figure Saturday morning at 4:30am server time is a great time to venture into typically Alliance territory to get into the Badlands. Darn quests that get you killed 3 times because of gankers. 🙁
