Ding 40; Huntr Gets a Black Hawkstrider

May 29, 2007 By Gitr 7 Comments

I dinged 40 yesterday morning with 2d 16h 52m /played time using Joana’s Horde Guide. I don’t think I’ve ever bested 4 days before, so I am entirely thrilled with my investment. I immediately translocated to Silvermoon and made my way to [tag]Thuron’s Livery[/tag] outside of Silvermoon (61,54) to purchase my mount. I took a look at them all before I made my way inside the building to receive my training to become worthy to handle such a creature.

[tag]Perascamin[/tag] offered to teach me to ride one of his slower breeds for 81g, which I gladly exchanged to be able to travel at 160% of my normal speed. I went back outside and purchased a [tag]Black Hawkstrider[/tag] from [tag]Winaestra[/tag], the breeder, for another 9g.

Ding 39; Bagged Bag’thera

May 27, 2007 By Gitr 2 Comments

Joana’s guide had me grind trolls for about 60% of level 38, making it the longest grind session yet, but the immediate reward for dinging was taking down Bag’thera, a level 40 Elite, and turning in the quest for almost 4k XP. There really isn’t much to talk about with level 38, since it was so much grinding. The best I can do is brag that I was taking on 3-5 level 39-40s at a time. /shrug

Wow, that was exciting. What did you do last night?

Ding 38; Duskwallow Marsh Is Foggy

May 26, 2007 By Gitr 1 Comment

Huntr hit 38 last night after turning in Round 1 of the quests in [tag]Duskwallow Marsh[/tag]. I haven’t died in 3 days, which is a nice change, and a trend that I intend on continuing. Huntr dinged 38 with 2d 10h 55m of /played time, but will not be going to train skills for a while. Level 40, here I come!

Tiggr knows Bite 5 and just recently hit 37, so he’s going to be leveling for the next hour or two. He reached Best Friend status yesterday morning and I’m able to sell off a lot of my meat now to keep my bags clear. Right now, my biggest pride of playing is keeping Tiggr on 4 mobs and walking up to loot them a minute later.

I was really surprised to find [tag]Mend Pet[/tag] is now an [tag]instant cast[/tag] spell. I usually don’t read the patch notes too closely, so when I tried to heal him, I thought the spell fizzled after a second, but no one was hitting me. I tried several times. I was amazed to see his health go up, though. It wasn’t until I opened my spellbook and saw that it was instant cast that I realized what was going on. I don’t think he is going to die very often now.

Another good thing to note is that I have not received a single [tag]spam[/tag] message since Tuesday morning when I received 3 before I went to work. Good job Blizz! How about you, are you spam-free?

Ding 37; Got Frostmaw’s Mane

May 24, 2007 By Gitr 7 Comments

I hit 37 last night with a total of 2d 7h 28m /played time. Arathi Highlands was getting quite boring killing raptor after raptor trying to get 12 raptor hearts. After all of that work, when I got to Hammerfall and started turning in the quests, it looked like a ding was approaching, and it did. I got my First Aid up though Triage in Hammerfall now, so now I need to start killing more mageweave mobs to get FA up to 300. Right now I only have 5 mageweave, and that’s just not going to cut it.

On the UI note, it looks like I needed the Gamma version of Auctioneer and to give the rest of the developers time to get a chance to pick at their code. I would say more than half of the plugins work now, and made life a tad more bearable.

I logged out in Alterac Mountains on my way to Dalaran, but stopped to get Frostmaw. I logged to get him this morning.

What did you do last night?

Ding 36; Lots of new Gear

May 22, 2007 By Gitr 6 Comments

I hit 36 after about 15 minutes of grinding trolls and working my way back to Grom’gol killing crocs and basilisks. I even took out one of the 38 Elite Elder Saltwater Crocodiles along the shore. That was fun and satisfying. /played time: 2d 4h 14m.

I trained up in Grom’gol and went to UC to turn in the Silk donation and to fly to Hammerfall. Just for kicks and grins, I hopped on the AH as I passed by to see if there was a better ranged weapon available. That was when my heart skipped a beat and I saw my favorite ranged weapon to date: Swiftwind. I got this for Grimr back in the day and ran him through DM to level it. He got to the ship okay at level 37 or so. I leveled this baby on the critters and trolls of Arathi Highlands. It’s fully skilled now, and killing kobolds.

I didn’t stop there. I bought a new headband, shoulders, Deadly Kris of Arcane Wrath, Shadowskin Gloves, and Tigerbane. Huntr has over 1,600 HP and Mana now and Tiggr is well on his way to becoming my best friend.

When you combine Dash and the extra DPS of my new crossbow (27, up from 19) and tack on the +Arcane damage of my dagger to my Arcane Shot, I’m peeling off HP faster than yesterday morning. We’ll see if it makes a difference in my leveling speed.

My immediate plans are to get Huntr to 40 and then do the same with Paladr. What are you current goals or plans with your toons?

Ding 35; Minutes from 36

May 21, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I wrapped up level 34 early last night and had 11 quests to put me to level 36 this morning. My work fell short of the mark, so I have to grind for a while to hit 36 and train at Grom’gol to save time. I’m fighting the Headhunters and Witch Doctors on the coast for good level 36-37 XP and getting decent coinage and green drops, too. I hit level 35 in 2d 1h 52m.

I tamed a level 34 Elder Stranglethorn Tiger, only to find that it was the level 32 Stranglethorn Tigers that had Dash (Rank 1). It took about 15 minutes to use it enough to learn it and re-train an Elder again. I named him Tiggr. How appropriate. 🙂 He looks just like him, too.

I didn’t read far enough ahead in the guide to know more than I need to hit level 36, train, zep to UC, and turn in 60 silk cloth before heading to Hammerfall to do one of my favorite things: Triage!!! Yay for level 300 First Aid again. It’s the second-easiest profession, behind Skinning. If you have the mats, though, Alchemy is pretty darn simple, too. Grimr was a 300 Alchemist at level 35.
