Power-Leveling

Ding 35; Minutes from 36

May 21, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I wrapped up level 34 early last night and had 11 quests to put me to level 36 this morning. My work fell short of the mark, so I have to grind for a while to hit 36 and train at Grom’gol to save time. I’m fighting the Headhunters and Witch Doctors on the coast for good level 36-37 XP and getting decent coinage and green drops, too. I hit level 35 in 2d 1h 52m.

I tamed a level 34 Elder Stranglethorn Tiger, only to find that it was the level 32 Stranglethorn Tigers that had Dash (Rank 1). It took about 15 minutes to use it enough to learn it and re-train an Elder again. I named him Tiggr. How appropriate. 🙂 He looks just like him, too.

I didn’t read far enough ahead in the guide to know more than I need to hit level 36, train, zep to UC, and turn in 60 silk cloth before heading to Hammerfall to do one of my favorite things: Triage!!! Yay for level 300 First Aid again. It’s the second-easiest profession, behind Skinning. If you have the mats, though, Alchemy is pretty darn simple, too. Grimr was a 300 Alchemist at level 35.

Ding 34; Done with Desolace

May 18, 2007 By Gitr 6 Comments

I have finally left Desolace and moved on to greener pastures. Sort of. Knowing myself, if something can go wrong, it will go wrong. I’ll get to my screw-up in chronological order, so we have some stuff to cover first. Oh, I can’t wait… /played time: 1d 22h 32m.

I absolutely love having a pet when it comes to collection quests. Ooops, I aggroed something. Here, take him, Catr. [Open/collect/destroy item] Run away from Catr. Call Catr to me with full health and focus. I did it 10 times while collecting the kodo bones in the Kodo Graveyard, which spawn level 37 apparitions.

I went to the Magram Village and killed about 60 centaurs to get 15 ears and pulled the ‘sic Catr on their butts’ trick again when I was getting the meat supplies for [tag]Martek the Exiled[/tag]. I hearthed to Shadowprey Village after I turned in my Eastern quests, went to the mailbox and loaded up on all the gear I sent with Bankr (including Underwater Breathing Potions) and swam North to get my last 2 clam meats.

As I swam back, I aimed where I thought I needed to go to get back to the village and went to the bedroom to get dressed for work, chatted with my wife for a minute, put in my contacts, and came back just as I was about 30 feet from the dock, near the shore, no less. Awesome!

I dinged as I turned in the first quest and put another point in Spirit Bond (2/2) for 2% health regen every 10 seconds. My points are all in Beastmaster, per BRK’s First 40 Points build. It’s nice to just unleash Catr and go to town with damage.

Joana’s Horde Guide New: Outlands 60-70 Step by Step

May 17, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

I just logged into Joana’s Horde Leveling Guide to see what his time to level 33 was and found a new link! He originally had an overview reference for Outlands, but it wasn’t his optimized path or anything uber-fast yet.

Now he has put it all in order and it’s built for speed. Get all of your 60s collecting dust to level 70 now. This update, and all new additions he will make are included in your original purchase. It was like a stocking stuffer in May. 🙂

Ding 33; Desolace is a PITA

May 17, 2007 By Gitr 4 Comments

Huntr spent about 2 hours in Desolace in the water last night checking traps, killing crabs, killing naga, and coming up for air. This would be so much easier as Forsaken. I managed to kill a 37 last night and a 38 this morning to complete two quests.

Joana’s Horde Leveling Guide has been a HUGE help in Desolace. It led me to every quest-giver, turn-in, and mob area for each quest flawlessly. It doesn’t get any more helpful than having your path drawn on a map, coordinates for the givers/turn-ins/areas, and outlines for where the mobs are located for collection/kill quests. If you need to, you have 3 helper options: you can click the quest name, and it sends you to one of the Big 3 database sites for that quest, you can watch his video of killing a specific boss/mob for a quest, or you can skip to that part of his video for that segment of playing (he recorded all 60 levels, sped 6-10x for the boring stuff).

My /played time is updated in my Journey to 70 page, but here it is anyway: 1d 19h 29m.

I’m a couple of steps away from hearthing back to Shadowprey Village to do a massive turn-in of 8 more completed quests. I am 2 clam meats away from being done with a quest that I forgot to wrap up before I came out of the water. They are way up the coast from the SV, so I think I’ll hearth back after playing Paladr after I gather the last of the meat.

I logged into Bankr to buy Huntr some new gear because it’s going to be a long time before he goes back to Orgrimmar or TB on a mission, and he’s carrying around some pretty dated gear. The profiles are all updated now, too.

Ding 32; Going into Desolace

May 14, 2007 By Gitr 8 Comments

I dinged in Shimmering Flats this morning EXACTLY where the guide said I “should be 32 now.” I got to skip the “if not, grind to 32.” That made me smile.

/played time 1d 16h 22m.

I know it’s a bit off of [tag]Joana’s Horde Guide[/tag]’s pace, but this is still pretty stinking fun to be this high after less than a month of RL time AND starting a new toon and getting him to level 24 within that time.

I hope you all noticed another person’s review of their experience with the guide Saturday, when Komiel left me the following comment:

Jame’s guide start off from 21+ but the only thing that isn’t really tempting me to use it is because of the zone he uses to level. If you’re on a PvP server and is looking toward powerleveling your toon you will probably suffer a lot of your time using James guide to level at Hillsbrad. In the other hand Joana’s guide uses Stonetalon as the zone for leveling 21+ which is much better compared to Hillsbrad. Stonetalon is also contested but I haven’t seen much heavy PvP or high levels running around ganking lowbies. I am sure there will be some same level PvP going on, but it’ll definately speed up your leveling a lot faster compared to James. I’ve also notice James guide also ask you do some rediculous quests that are completed underwater, which is painful for many others that are not Undeads or playing as Warlock.

Anyway, I just felt like sharing my thoughts toward these guides. I personally prefer to use Joana’s and it’s definately worth getting.

What more do you need to finally level like you should? You don’t have to skip out on instances or other quests, but doing things in this order this Joana’s organization really will get you leveled faster, and you can choose how fast by how much other stuff you do.

Ding 24; Nice New Armor

May 11, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I dinged 24 last night after completing [tag]Forrest Magic[/tag] and picking up the seeds in  Stonetalon Peak. I tried 4 times to kill [tag]Gerenzo Wrenchwhistle[/tag], but I didn’t have the healing potion to take him down. I’ve never seen him where he was and he had one of the guys that spawns a robot. It was all in the mechanics and strategy…I was playing stupid and with a nearly broken left hand.

Irritated, I ran off and turned in what I had completed, hearthed, flew to TB to get some nice armor and a nice, shiny 18dps blue mace for 7g. I also hooked him up with some more Hulking armor pieces, although my boots and gloves are already better than that set, I went for the shoulder and chest pieces. My leggings look totally…um…flamboyant, shall we say. I can’t wait to get some good pally gear that covers me up again. I went 3 levels refusing to get one set piece that looks like a loincloth and 2 mudflaps.

[tag]Beazel’s Basher[/tag]
Binds when equipped
Main-Hand Mace
32 – 60 Damage Speed 2.50
(18.4 damage per second)
+6 Strength
+2 Spirit
Requires Level 24
