What to do…

January 13, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

It’s date night, so I’ll be getting on a little later than normal. Last night I had some freelancing to take care of. I talked my way into setting up a press release blog for a company doing an initial product release. It will be a central location just for reading the press releases and they can sign up for the RSS or XML feeds, too. So, not much is getting done in the way of leveling or anything.

I played Druidr a while and almost got him to 13 in Westfall. I just keep going after the trappers and smugglers. He’s amost done. That will level him as soon as he turns it in after the last few kills. Then it’s on to the gnolls and I think the Messenger. At that point, he should be 14 and ready to return to the bear spirit for more druid training.

I need to level Grimr for improved alchemy training. He’s at 150/150 and needs to get to 35 to take him all the way to 300. At that point it will be tempting to level a couple more times and tame an elite beast in STV with the help of a priestly bubble. I’ve never done that, and it sounds like fun. Sin’Dal is a 37 Elite from what I remember. Then King Bangalash is a 43 Elite. Those would hold me over for several levels each. King B. might even last me until 50.

Gitr, Gitr. I fully expect to hit 56 over the weekend, unless the Broncos game takes too much time out of my schedule. Saturday morning is shot with errands, so it’s going to be tight. My alts might have to wait until next week if Gitr’s going to level.

Tox wants rugged leather to make rugged armor kits for turn-ins for the Alliance. I’ll probably go kill apes in Un’goro. I killed about 15 worms in EP last night and not a single larva acid drop. That really made me made because I died twice when random bats would fly too close. Those areas are really too dense with worms, dogs, and bats all doing their own things.

Yeah! 55 and Scholo in one night

January 12, 2006 By Gitr 4 Comments

Gitr hit 55 while getting Yeti skins and Pristine Yeti horns in Winterspring. Then it was off to Scholo with a partial in-house, partial PuG. I HATE PuGs, but this one worked just fine. No wipes and only about 5 deaths. I got the Boots of Valor, and a loot list to follow in the morning. Here is the summary with one missing portrait that I’m quite upset that I didn’t get because I was too busy getting the 1H mace off him.

Baron run marathon

January 11, 2006 By Gitr 6 Comments

We ran 2 Baron runs back to back last night with in-house raids. We did a 10-man first with what was referred to as “omgdps.” 🙂 We had all 60s but a 54 and a 55. The raid included a total of 5 mages and warlocks that just plain nuked everything. With a slow 2H sword, I usually didn’t get 2 swings in before something died. Baron even fell in about 15 seconds. It was ridiculous zergging.

The second run was an 8-man with much less dps, so it was a little more controlled. We lost me a time or two when I actually got aggro when I tripped Recklessness and critted 3 times in a row.

It was an awesome night for loot:

Band of Flesh
Ramstein’s Lightning Bolts
Chitinous Plate Legguards
Peacemaker
Crest of Retribution
Skullforge Reaver
3x Corruptor’s Scourgestone
Banshee’s Touch
Massacre Sword

Of course, a lot of that stuff requires leveling to equip it, but I’m up to the challenge. I’ll be taking the night off, getting Gitr some rest, and then we’ll probably do Strat live side on Thursday night.

The best line of the night, right before the Baron’s chamber:
Gitr: Could you pull them back a little closer so I can hit them without pulling the entire room?
Paumen: Sure
Gitr: My agg radius in here is pretty big
Paumen: I don’t think it’s that big. How big is it?
Gitr: It’s HUGE
Paumen: Whip it out Gitr!
This was all on TeamSpeak, quickly followed by a couple of “whaaa??” from our female guildies. Then we got to relive it all over again for their benefit. LOL.

10-man Baron run

January 10, 2006 By Gitr 4 Comments

Gitr has made it to the big time! I’ll avoid the talking for this post and let the pictures to the talking.

After all of that excitement, I got my second +15 AGI enchant on my Dawn’s Edges. I sent Druidr some lesser healing potions and logged in to level him and to kill Hogger while still an 11. I did it. That’s all there is to it, folks. Druids rock.

The trick to playing druid is simply to keep your health high enough to continue wearing them down with the bear form, and I suppose also to rip them apart in cat form. The order of action was:
Roots, wrath, wrath, wrath, wrath, arcane, bear form, druid form, lesser healing potion, bear form, druid form, healing touch, arcane, bear form, Hogger dies. That was fun, let’s do it again.

Valor set expedition

January 9, 2006 By Gitr 1 Comment

Gitr is going to try to organize some expeditions to get the Valor set. The stats are impressive compared to his current equipment. Assuming he can get his hands on the Stoneshield Cloak and gets his enchant on the off-hand Dawn’s Edge, the armor and weapons alone have the following stats:

3812 Armor
155 Strength
154 Stamina
90 Agility
35 Spirit

Since I can’t see my natural stats away from my system, I’m not sure what the final stats are, but I know they are something that Gitr could use, plus the set bonuses, which I’m also unable to find out here. Firewalls stink, you know?

I’m going to try to organize a 10-man FoA Scholo and Strat run until I get all the pieces. Gitr should have dibs on all of it because he is the only warrior high enough to go, but is also so far behind the others, that nothing should be an upgrade for the resident warriors.

I’ll update this with links and further stat info when I get access to my information.

Gitr is resting, Druidr sees some game time

January 9, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

Gitr really needs some rest to make leveling easier, so Druidr got some action. I took him from level 8 to 11 last night. I teamed up with a really awesome druid, Windwalker, who was level 11 at the time. She showed me the bear spirit and we finished the quest together. Then I went back to Elwynn Forest to try out my new skills and get used to casting/tanking/healing/tanking.

After 3 attempts at Hogger at level 11, I got him within 2% of his health, but was not able to succeed. Maybe with one level better health potion… I’ll get him tonight while still 11. I think killing a like-level elite would be a great confidence booster with playing druid.

I’ll get Hogger tonight and start farming and grinding up in EP some more. Gitr needs to plant the termites in the lumber yard now. I hear there are some long quest lines in EP for the mid-50s.
