Ding 36; Lots of new Gear

May 22, 2007 By Gitr 6 Comments

I hit 36 after about 15 minutes of grinding trolls and working my way back to Grom’gol killing crocs and basilisks. I even took out one of the 38 Elite Elder Saltwater Crocodiles along the shore. That was fun and satisfying. /played time: 2d 4h 14m.ย

I trained up in Grom’gol and went to UC to turn in the Silk donation and to fly to Hammerfall. Just for kicks and grins, I hopped on the AH as I passed by to see if there was a better ranged weapon available. That was when my heart skipped a beat and I saw my favorite ranged weapon to date: Swiftwind. I got this for Grimr back in the day and ran him through DM to level it. He got to the ship okay at level 37 or so. I leveled this baby on the critters and trolls of Arathi Highlands. It’s fully skilled now, and killing kobolds.

I didn’t stop there. I bought a new headband, shoulders,ย Deadly Kris of Arcane Wrath, Shadowskin Gloves, and Tigerbane. Huntr has over 1,600 HP and Mana now and Tiggr is well on his way to becoming my best friend.

When you combine Dash and the extra DPS of my new crossbow (27, up from 19) and tack on the +Arcane damage of my dagger to my Arcane Shot, I’m peeling off HP faster than yesterday morning. We’ll see if it makes a difference in my leveling speed.

My immediate plans are to get Huntr to 40 and then do the same with Paladr. What are you current goals or plans with your toons?

Ding 24; Nice New Armor

May 11, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I dinged 24 last night after completing [tag]Forrest Magic[/tag] and picking up the seeds inย  Stonetalon Peak. I tried 4 times to kill [tag]Gerenzo Wrenchwhistle[/tag], but I didn’t have the healing potion to take him down. I’ve never seen him where he was and he had one of the guys that spawns a robot. It was all in the mechanics and strategy…I was playing stupid and with a nearly broken left hand.

Irritated, I ran off and turned in what I had completed, hearthed, flew to TB to get some nice armor and a nice, shiny 18dps blue mace for 7g. I also hooked him up with some more Hulking armor pieces, although my boots and gloves are already better than that set, I went for the shoulder and chest pieces. My leggings look totally…um…flamboyant, shall we say. I can’t wait to get some good pally gear that covers me up again. I went 3 levels refusing to get one set piece that looks like a loincloth and 2 mudflaps.

[tag]Beazel’s Basher[/tag]
Binds when equipped
Main-Hand Mace
32 – 60 Damage Speed 2.50
(18.4 damage per second)
+6 Strength
+2 Spirit
Requires Level 24

Ding 23; Getting Forest Magic

May 10, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

I dinged 23 with Paladr last night and headed back to Stonetalon Mountains on my normal track using [tag]Joana’s Horde Guide[/tag]. It got my XP rolling again, so I’m happy that I’m still able to level like I should, though I’m thoroughly enjoying playing a healing tank. I’ve got my polearm skill maxed now and working on getting my 1H skills up again to use with my new shield. I’ve updated my profile, but I woke up late this morning and didn’t write down any of my new gear.

My happiest moment of the evening was right before I logged when I was mindlessly fighting Coursers (deer) on my way to Stonetalon Peak for a bunch of quests. First, a new Blue pike dropped off of one (sorry, check my bags for the name). It should sell for about 9g, putting me at 40g already. We discussed how many Blues have dropped. I said I’ve had about 6 drop so far with Paladr. I was mistaken, but it’s been 5 between Huntr and Paladr. I have such a hard time separating stuff like that, but at least I can separate what happens on which realms. ๐Ÿ™‚

My second best moment last night was finally getting rid of those annoying buff bar/timers that are always appearing above my head, right over my target, when I engage them. It’s a mod called Chronometer, described as: timer bars for Skills, HoTs, DoTs and more. I HATE it. Well, at least I did before I knew what it was called to attempt to move it. I kind of do like its information, so maybe I’ll re-enable it tonight and move it below me.

Paladr Gets a Blood-Tempered Ranseur

May 9, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

Thanks to the help of first Ravenkiller, and then Nynave joining us, Paladr got all of the mats for the [tag]Blood-Tempered Ranseur[/tag]. I must say it is heavy and swings like a monster. It may have lower dps than my sword, but the stats make it a true paladin weapon of finery.

Raven and I started out by doing Ragefire Chasm by ourselves and taking down what appears to be Omen’s little brother, Zelemar the Wrathful. No one really gave up much of a fight in RFC, but I will admit we almost died a few times because of the number of adds we got from spawning patrols. We took down 6 level 15-16 elites in one prolonged fight. [Read more…] about Paladr Gets a Blood-Tempered Ranseur

Ding 21; Very Hectic Week

May 7, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

It was a very crazy weekend after my wife’s alternator gave out again. Combine that with the garage sale, shopping for her new work clothes, getting some R&R at the pool, and stuff, that made for a very busy weekend.

In-game, I got Paladr to 18 before we went into The Deadmines and rocked that joint. Naturally, the Deathroom that was the goblin engineering room got us a time or two, but it was smooth sailing after that. Of course, dinging 19 helped a tad. I got upgrades of nearly every piece of armor, plus a sword.

I hit 21 this morning and Paladr is on his way to Sunrock Retreat. He got Dar’Khan before leaving Ghostlands Sunday morning, putting him at Exalted with Tranquillien. I love getting a nice blue weapon in the starting area. ๐Ÿ™‚ Not to mention the Exalted cloak.

Paladr is no longer going for a record pace after taking forever to do DM, but he is still scooting along at a far better than average gallop. His level 20 was 15h 25m. I’m going to enjoy playing a pally, and will still follow the guide’s track on quests, but experience all of the Paladin stuff, such as forging the weapon for the level 20 questline reward.

I have a ton of screenshots from the weekend, but a very hectic week coming up. I just got into the office, so we’ll see if nothing is happening. If we’re dead today, I’ll put them up and write more posts. If not, I’m sorry, but work is work.

Introducing Paladr, Level 10… Beating Joana’s Time

April 29, 2007 By Gitr 5 Comments

I created [tag]Paladr[/tag] earlier last week and finally took him for a spin last night, trying to catch up with [tag]Mindkiller[/tag]’s and [tag]Snowstormer[/tag]’s new hunter alts, [tag]Jolygreen[/tag] and [tag]Shurshot[/tag]. They were level 10 when I logged in last night. They were 11 this morning, and I almost caught up to them. Paladr is at 2h 24m to level 10. YES!! Nearly 1 hour ahead of [tag]Huntr[/tag]!! Not only that, but it is faster than Joana’s own best time in his guide. He hit 10 at 2h 32m. Buy [tag]Joana’s Horde Guide[/tag] if you want to level alts like this. I’ve got them all memorized up through level 10 now, so it goes really, really fast. I died once…stupid, but other than that, it’s been smooth sailing.

I took on [tag]Jewelcrafting[/tag] and [tag]Blacksmithing[/tag] for professions, which will both be expensive, so I dove back into the AH with both of the bank alts. I have Butterbanker and Bankr working hard. Bankr is over 1g now, and Butterbanker should have up around 10g for the guild when everything sells. I’ve enabled money, bags, and inventory on all of my toons in my [tag]RPG Outfitter[/tag] profiles. I haven’t added the link for Paladr or the bank toons yet, but you can get to them by changing the name in the address bar when you click Huntr. I downloaded GuildProfiler again this morning, but didn’t get it installed to export our new [tag]Buttered Monkeys[/tag].
