Vanguard question

September 28, 2006 By Gitr 2 Comments

Now that Gnomicidal has brought it up, and I am blocked almost every turn I make at work, I’m assuming that this is the game that he is talking about:

I found a lot of stuff written about it on Wikipedia, but there are a lot of gaps in there that I am sure are on the developer and gaming sites.

My overwhelming question is: is it a free subscription? It looks like Sony has the rights to subscriptions, but there is no price mentioned, if there is one. My take on this pretty much stands as being grounded in WoW. Now that I’ve already spent the money to buy the game and the months of fees, I’m either going to get the expansion or switch to Guild Wars. I just won’t have much time to be playing games after getting married, anyway.

The graphics look cool, but I think my geeking should be limited to buying cool hardware and a few high-end games that push the limit, but don’t suck you into a hole for hours at a time. I am looking forward to playing Project Offset when it gets off the ground. The graphics are just mind-blowing. After an upgrade, I’ll surely be getting Doom 3 and Quake 4. I’ve got quite a bit of freelancing to do before I go down that road, though.

When the expansion comes

September 27, 2006 By Gitr 4 Comments

The question everyone is asking themselves and their guildies is: “When the expansion comes out, are you going to start a new toon?”

My answer to that question is, “Yes, and no.” I will be quite happy to keep plugging away at Deadr on Burning Legion because I finally got his cool spells in my spellbook. As for Kargath, I don’t really have any interests in anyone aside from a passing interest in getting Grimr a mount. Those last 2 levels take forever, though, and are so boring. I think a change of pace on that server would be fun. If I start a Blood Elf, he will be well-funded, too.

So, what will it be for you? Elite status or new adventures?

Let’s go drinking! Deadr’s 21!

September 27, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

It was another 2-level night for Deadr. Most of the xp came from quests, but most of the quests were done with help from Rhone. It was so much WoW, I don’t remember it all, but it was a little grinding right after work through SFK and Fenris Isle. I got Arugal’s head before dinner.

I couldn’t get to sleep, so I got up and went to Kalimdor and did a bunch of raptor and grinding quests until I got too far over my head. Rhone bailed me out again with Isha Awok and then took me through Wailing Caverns with Boxter.

I got some really nice gear in WC, including a huge staff upgrade and a nice ring.

I got a few add-ons that I’ve missed for a while, because I was getting errors with the huge collection I had before. I am slowly building it up to where it’s going to be “just too much,” and then stop adding them. My Unit Frames look pretty cool now:

Leaving Undercity one time, I saw something I totally didn’t expect: a decked out level 60 pally standing on the altar in the entryway. I guess if you’ve got the gear. 🙂 I hear he is a regular and I saw him one-shot a 58 priest. I think you might be able to see the skeleton to the right.

Anyway, here’s my bagged loot for the night:

Deep Fathom Ring
Seal of Sylvanas
Living Root

Living Root is actually pretty funny to look at on my back, because it’s not too much longer than most gnarly wands are. I uploaded my new profile with all kinds of pretty colors everywhere. It won’t be too long until I can wear my Robes of Arugal and have some real grinding fun.

I’ve all but given up on selling my Robe of the Void pattern in the AH. I’ll try some time with it on the trade channel. It’s worth over 30G, so I’d hate to see it go for too little. I’ve got a lot going on tonight, so we’ll see how much, if any time I get to play.

Revision is online and complete

September 26, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I’m finally “satisfied” with the look. I still have a lot to learn about CSS and I’m reading like crazy about styling, fonts, etc., but I can stop trying to fix the blog now. First thing I’m doing when I get home is to back up the posts and all of the PHP files for my template.

What is an asterisk?

September 26, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

A co-worker just sent me a pretty cool blog about the prevalence of small type nowadays, usually preceded by an asterisk somewhere. The site is Mouseprint.org and is quite the read, today’s post is particularly interesting.

Related to *s, I think WoW should have lots of them. Plaster them everywhere, even after peoples’ names, guilds, and ranks. Some examples that popped into my head:

  • Master Seargeant*  –  Cause of his divorce
  • Guild Master*  –  Insecure 19-year-old college geek
  • Hogger*  –  Do not attempt at level 8 unless you REALLY know what you’re doing
  • Lady Prestor*  –  She’s really Onyxia
  • Servants of Razelikh*  –  They don’t die unless you are on a quest
  • WhatshisnameonKargath*  –  Idiot who falls off ledges in UBRS after looting epic BOEs, dies, and logs off

In these cases, asterisks would be cool.

Deadr’s simple wish list for 19

September 26, 2006 By Gitr 2 Comments

I went questing with a fellow guildie last night because being a level 60 horde can be sooo boring when you’re not raiding. We got through Fenris Keep and Pyrewood Village for me to turn in 2 quests and ding to level 19.

I picked up the next quests in the lines and made my wish list. Two of them are for buying, and one is a quest reward.

I just realized today that there must be a Stockades equivalent for the Horde. What is it that the Horde does along the storyline of the Lady being Onyxia? We obviously can’t just walk into Stormwind.

Tonight will be another zep ride to take a look at the chasm and Wailing Caverns. Maybe I’ll get creative at some point today and write a decent post instead of this junk. 🙂
