Updated goals and plans

February 13, 2006 By Gitr 1 Comment

Now that Gitr has reached 60, what is next? I’ve been putting some thought into that, and just finished talking to Tox.

Gitr

  • Visit all 3 legs of Dire Maul and get the good loot there.
  • Start going to MC runs.
  • Continue in ZG and try to take down the tiger boss (my 4th shot) and get enough souldarite to make my entire Darksoul set.
  • Finish my BRD quests (Ironfel and Incendius).
  • Get Dal’Rend’s Sacred Charge to match my Tribal Guardian and +15 AGI enchant both.

Grimr

  • Level to 40 to mount up and get to the laboratories for making flasks.

Lockr

  • Level to 19 to wear his Corsair’s Overshirt from VanCleef.
  • Level to 20 for his next tailoring skill-set.

For the blog, I will be adding a Lockr’s WoW Blog section in a sub-domain, and a Grimr’s WoW Blog following the same suit. They will be more interesting than “Gitr did another ZG run today. Here is what dropped. Here is who we killed. Another run on Thursday.” LOL.

DING ..::60::..

February 9, 2006 By Gitr 5 Comments

It’s over!! The long, hard-fought battle to 60 has been won. I was determined to level Gitr today because he had all rest, a good grinding zone in WP, and lots of bandages. It officially took 16 days, 11 hours, 58 minutes to reach 60. I hate to think of all the time wasted in AH scanning or waiting around for a portal or flying to the wrong places, but this is the final tally, and I hear it’s pretty solid for your first 60.

After that, I went on the guild ZG run. We had 6 warriors and 3 pallys! It was amazing what you can do with so many tanks. The quote of the night was:

“Oh, look. Someone’s over there tanking in the bushes.”

We eventually stopped sheeping and sleeping because we could put tanks on everything. When we came to the blood drinkers, we spaced them out with a tank on each, healed those tanks, and ranged took them down one by one. It was hilarious. With 3 druids, 3 priests, and 3 pallys, you can heal an awful lot, too.

Our hit list included:

We took both Venoxis and Mandokir on our first tries. There were even some who’d never been to ZG, and me, who’d never been to see Mandokir. In addition, I was on the phone with my girlfriend when they were giving TS commands and head’s up on what Mandokir does. All I got was what was typed in /raid chat. LOL.

We tried three times to get the 3 boss-set of Thekar’s gang. Either we didn’t have enough people, the wrong mix, or we just don’t understand how to take them down. It was by far the hardest fight I’ve ever seen or been in. We’ll get him next time.

Good night in WSG

February 6, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I’ll write more at work, but the short of it is that I scored more HK tonight than my whole PvP time before this. In just two matches, which were both wins. This should catapult me a couple of ranks up.

It’s been really rough at work, so all I wanted to do was log on and kill PEOPLE, not NPCs. I was in WSG just as I’d made the flight up to plant the termites in the lumber mill in WP. I placed the barrel, completed the quest, and went into battle.

I was immediately invited into raid chat and we were en masse at mid-field killing horde as they came at us. Every time we offed one or two of them, we could see another one jumping down their cliff toward us, just to get killed again. I’ve never been in a BG where everyone stuck together. I wanted to be sure to move up a rank (or 2 or 3) because of the server maintenance on Tuesdays, so I signed up for another run at it.

This time I was raid leader. That was interesting, since I still don’t really know what’s going on. I need to find a good PvP BG guide, but most of them are blocked at work. Time for some diligent searching, methinks.

For example: How did we win if it doesn’t show that anyone captured the flag? So many things to learn.

I’ll be back to BGs tonight unless I’m doing UBRS for more gear.

Where’s Gitr?

February 6, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

Sleeping.

After a long week of gov’t rushes at work, I was tired every night when I got home. I did 1 hour per night, tops. Some nights, I just went to bed. Gitr didn’t play at all on Saturday or Sunday… hmmm… maybe not even Friday.

I got most of the rushes completed on Saturday and today, but will not be home until late tonight. Tuesday evening looks good after playing dominoes with the grandparents.

Linux still isn’t co-operating on gettting WoW to work on the emulator, as 1 frame every 8 seconds is the best I can muster. Otherwise I’d be sitting pretty right now in Panera.

Life will settle down, and I’ll get some more play time this week.

Featured blog

February 3, 2006 By Gitr 1 Comment

Since Josh Dura’s helped me so many times with code on this blog, when he told me he finally got his blog up, I decided to give him a featured link/post today.

His main is a level 60 Orc Hunter on Burning Legion as a member of the Nightelf Skinning Co. guild.

Go check it out today.

A night for Lockr

February 3, 2006 By Gitr 2 Comments

Lockr got to come out and play last night. I was attempting to install Linux on my 1.2 GHz laptop to give WoW a try using Wine for the claimed performance improvement. After an hour of dinking while Lockr worked on tailoring and flew on grifs, I finally deduced that Disc 1 of Mandriva 2006 is not enough to connect to the Internet. I didn’t see the browser or any way to unpack the Wine download that I burned to a CD.

I took him down to SW and went to turn in a quest in Goldshire and ran over to the keep north of the bridge into Westfall. I got the Hogger and gnoll quest. Using his voidwalker to hit each target in a clump, Lockr cursed each target and proceeded to wand them to death. By the time he got to the next target, he was back at 100% and I was only down about 200 mana.

Hogger was simple. Let the voidwalker get aggro, curse Hogger, wand/Shadow Bolt, then using the Health Funnel to keep the voidwalker up until my Shadow Bolts would finish Hogger off. One thing is for sure, playing warlock is fast and cheap. No bandages, no health potions, and double or triple xp gain by taking on groups.

Next stop: Westfall. I might even try Duskwood at 16, depending on my gear.
