Ding 58!! Went Through the Dark Portal

September 7, 2007 By Gitr 1 Comment

I dinged 58 after relenting to mass-grinding Timbermaw rep near Timbermaw hold in Felwood last night. I had 38% to go, and I was taking on 4-6 mobs at a time between levels 54 and 57. It took me about 43 minutes to ding. I exitedly hearthed to Org, got one more piece of Outland gear from the AH and rode to the Zeppelin Master to fly to Grom’gol. I flew to Stonard and rode to the portal.

I got my standard portal screenshots, but the Internet was down at home this morning, so I’ll have to visually brag later. I went to Thrallmar and started the first 3 quests. I completed the scrap wood and scrap metal quest and opted for the mail piece that replaced a leather rather than the awesome leather piece that trumped my current mail piece. I just can’t remember which slot was which. My profile has it, though.

I’m going to do my darndest to hit 60 this weekend. My wife is off tomorrow, though, so that rules out playing all morning tomorrow. It should only take 4-5 hours to wrap up the 50s.

As soon as I hit 60, I’m going to play Ramparts until I have all the pieces. I’m determined to get the rep that I can’t get outside of the instances with Deadr now that I’ve completed all the quests. I read that you have to do the instance honor first, because the quests will always reward reputation, but the mobs in Ramparts stop at a certain point. Now I only get credit for the boss fights.

Ding 57; Outland Gear Again

September 4, 2007 By Gitr 4 Comments

Although much more sparse, Huntr has started to don Outland gear that drops from Hellfire Ramparts and will be joining those battles very very soon, hitting Level 57 with 6d 4h 53m /played time. Last night, I killed High Chief Winterfall (59 Elite) in an uber solo battle on my first try. I’m going to complete Linken’s questline, for sure, before I enter Outlands.

I will probably be able to level out without too much time spent in the dreaded Eastern Plaguelands, but we’ll have to see how Winterspring and Silithus play out.

Ding 56; Considering Deathclasp

August 29, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

Sorry folks, but this is going to be a quick note before work. Class went its full length last night, so I didn’t play and blog yesterday… just play. I dinged 56 just a few minutes into my session. It came at 5d 23h 31m /played time. I added my talent point to the Improved Hunter’s Mark.

Just as I dinged, Punitor (Phil) got online and I ditched Huntr for the night and played Paladr with him. We cleared out the dreaded scorched crater area of those annoying harpies. I’d been up since 4:30, and it was almost 11:00, so it was time to go to bed before rinsing and repeating today (note time now — I’ve already played and am walking out the door).

Moving on to Silithus; Almost 56

August 28, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

I did my own thing for a while (basically Felwood and Winterspring) and want to get back on track. I dusted off my Joana’s guide and saw that I had automatically done all the quests I was supposed to do. Maybe not in his optimized order, but I’m not wandering around lost.

I am picking the trail up at Silithus.

One of my highlights includes taking down Ursius solo as a 56 Elite to hang over my mantle.

I started on several of the quests in Silithus, but work drew me away at 95%. I decided groceries over game. It should only take me 20 minutes to ding tonight.

Ding 55; Winterspring or WP/EP?

August 24, 2007 By Gitr 7 Comments

Huntr dinged 55 last night in Winterspring looking for my second Pristine Yeti Horn to drop. It finally did as I hit 8.7% of the way through the level. He did it in 5d 17h 9m /played time. Now I just can’t decide where I want to quest for the next level, because going between the 2 continents sucks. I just hit Honored with Everlook, giving me straight Honored with the Steamweedle Cartel.

My goals before Outlands at 58:

  • Get Fishing to 300.
  • Get Herbalism up to 300.

That’s it. Small goals, but very annoying to do. Fishing is at 207, I think, and Peacebloom is still a green when I find it. I think Huntr is at 72 Herbalism.

What are your alts’ goals before Outlands?
