New Patch 2.1.0 Trailer – Black Temple

May 15, 2007 By Gitr 2 Comments

Blizzard released a trailer previewing the [tag]Black Temple[/tag] and how it plays a role in the [tag]World of Warcraft[/tag]. It was a temple of peace, like any temple, until the [tag]Burning Legion[/tag] came. [tag]Illidan[/tag] had the help of the Blood Elves and the Naga in closing the portal and taking back their land. Now it’s time to take back the temple from Illidan himself.

Here are some screenshots from the trailer taken from the homepage of WorldofWarcraft.com.

American Idol Predictions: Final 3

May 15, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

Tonight’s pre-show prediction:

Jordin says bye-bye tomorrow night. She’s cute as a bug and can sing like a diva, but then there’s Melinda…

I think Blake has a ton of guys behind his votes, so when it comes down to the women voting Melinda or Jordin, Melinda stays.

Very Busy in RL

May 15, 2007 By Gitr 1 Comment

Sorry about the lack of updates today. I’ve been busy tweaking my new project. I’ll unveil it tonight or tomorrow if you haven’t found it already. I learned a lot at SOBCon and started putting things into motion right away, as Mindkiller noted the title change.

I played Huntr last night and this morning. Due to coming in early two days in a row, I didn’t get the grinding time necessary to complete the centaur rep quest in Desolace, so I’m still Neutral, working my way to Friendly. Until that happens, that’s what I’m doing and there is no need to update nothing. 🙂

I have some stuff to do on the computer tonight non-WoW-related, so that will keep me busy before, if not after, American Idol.

Ding 32; Going into Desolace

May 14, 2007 By Gitr 8 Comments

I dinged in Shimmering Flats this morning EXACTLY where the guide said I “should be 32 now.” I got to skip the “if not, grind to 32.” That made me smile.

/played time 1d 16h 22m.

I know it’s a bit off of [tag]Joana’s Horde Guide[/tag]’s pace, but this is still pretty stinking fun to be this high after less than a month of RL time AND starting a new toon and getting him to level 24 within that time.

I hope you all noticed another person’s review of their experience with the guide Saturday, when Komiel left me the following comment:

Jame’s guide start off from 21+ but the only thing that isn’t really tempting me to use it is because of the zone he uses to level. If you’re on a PvP server and is looking toward powerleveling your toon you will probably suffer a lot of your time using James guide to level at Hillsbrad. In the other hand Joana’s guide uses Stonetalon as the zone for leveling 21+ which is much better compared to Hillsbrad. Stonetalon is also contested but I haven’t seen much heavy PvP or high levels running around ganking lowbies. I am sure there will be some same level PvP going on, but it’ll definately speed up your leveling a lot faster compared to James. I’ve also notice James guide also ask you do some rediculous quests that are completed underwater, which is painful for many others that are not Undeads or playing as Warlock.

Anyway, I just felt like sharing my thoughts toward these guides. I personally prefer to use Joana’s and it’s definately worth getting.

What more do you need to finally level like you should? You don’t have to skip out on instances or other quests, but doing things in this order this Joana’s organization really will get you leveled faster, and you can choose how fast by how much other stuff you do.

Happy Mother’s Day; Safely Back Home

May 13, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I got back in a tad before 11:00 last night and we got out of the parking garage within the free time. It was great to be back home. It seemed like 3 full days away, not 30 hours. Maybe only getting 3 hours of sleep Saturday and 6 hours last night will lead to 9 hours tonight. 🙂

I will be making several significant articles on the conference and those who attended in the days to come. There were some truly great people there and I can say with certainty that the world is going to change because of this group of online publishers. I am grateful that there were only 110 people there because with any more than that, we would have lost some sense of community that was so prevalent every time we weren’t listening to speakers.

Terry Starbucker Speaks at SOBCon

May 12, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

Terry Starbucker is an SOB, a title he wears with pride after Liz Strauss awarded him with that title. He started Glass Half Full as a lark and took it from there.

Well, this turned out to be a lot shorter than I thought it would be…he’s the MC. /grin

Time for the conference to begin!

———————–

End of conference session, brought to you by Starbucker!

Yes, he actually did sing for us. Poor Elton John! Actually, it wasn’t bad, but it sure was funny. 🙂

Today’s topic is critiquing one of our blogs. They chose Dawud Miracle’s site, HealthyWebDesign. David Armano and Liz Strauss stepped up to help it out.

Dawud said he is trying to transition away from being stuck in the design of being a web designer because he does so much more now. He is going to change his branding. His goal moving forward is to utilize conversation with this clients to help everyone out.

David says he can see the web designer in Dawud coming out in this design and can be taken to the next level by aligning with his personal brand…make it warmer and more personable. (good advice for my blog, too)

Liz noted that there are no visuals above the fold and that his business statement takes up so much real estate that it pushes his content out of the picture. It feels like content that doesn’t change. It seems like part blog, part website.

David says he needs to transition to blog-likeconventions, such as the most recent post coming up to the top. People are getting used to seeing blogrolls and categories and usuallt assume that the first field they see is the search field.

Liz says that Seth Godin always asks where the monkey is supposed to go? If your blog sends people away from your site, then you need to rethink your design. David retorted that with the repeat visitor in mind. You need to meet the needs of both. Keep branding and the RSS feed above the fold. Read the book, “Don’t Make Me Think.”

Oh, crap, time to catch my plane.
