Yet Another Boring Post About Names – Don’t Read

I have been kicking back and forth blogging and gaming ideas with one of my fellow bloggers (who shall remain anonymous because I did not ask permission to divulge our conversations) about new toons, blogs, guilds, forums, etc. Those ideas floating around in my head and occassionally sticking to my retina *highly annoying* got me on the topic of names again.

The old question we always see on the blogs is, “What’s in a name?”

My new question is, “Is your name your brand?”

For example, when the speed leveler, Joana creates a new toon on a new realm to be the first one to 70, he always uses one of two names: Joana and Mancow. It is his brand. Whatever server he goes to, people know to look for Mancow or Joana to see what the competition is. I suppose I am trying to build a brand, of sorts with my blog, as readership increases and I’m getting more involved in blogging my GM’ing and new toons.

Humar the Pridelord? Yeah, I Got Him.

I took Tomas’ tip yesterday to look for Humar the Pridelord. It was about 9:45 server time when I made my way to Ratchet from Crossroads and looked for him. The coords were right, but there were only a ton of Patriarch, Lionesses, and Cubs around the big tree. Not to be dismayed, I figured that I would log out right there and come back every time I logged in to see if Humar is there, since I am sticking to leveling Deadr for a while.

For those who don’t know where to find this magnificant beast (which I am going out on a limb and saying he’s the best cat until you can get King Bagthera), I can tell you exactly where he is. When you fly or ship into Ratchet, take the road West toward Crossroads. Just after the buildings of town, head to the right to run along the plateau wall on the North side of the road. After a hundred yards or so is one way to the top. You can see a HUGE tree with a trunk about 50 feet in diameter with about 20 lions of various types wandering and resting. He should be under there if he is spawned. Reports vary, but is is safe to say he has a 12 hour timer.

I logged in this morning at 4:00am server time, took one look, and this is what I saw:

Ding 64; Honored With Cenarian Expedition

Last night I finally found those Glowcaps and the Discarded Nutriment that I was looking for around Zangarmarsh. The glowcaps actually are everywhere, though I don’t know if you can pick them before attaining the quest without being an herbalist.

A New Twist On Old Content

We’ve all been hearing in podcasts and reading on the forums and blogs about how people starting to play the game today will never see the old level 60 content unless they make them harder and update the loot tables to present end-game lewt.

I have a new twist on it today. Granted, there isn’t a toon out there that can solo MC/BWL/Naxx…yet. But what about in 1, 2, or 3 expansions? Will a level 80 decked out in Tier 8 be able to do that? I think so. I would think that a Gruul’s Lair geared Warrior, Pally, Druid, or Mage would be able to take on Dire Maul, though I’m not sure about anything higher than that. The Baron and Co. might still pose a problem for one toon.

Deadr Finds Sporeggars Friendly

I met quite a few nice sporeggars last night in Zangarmarsh. They look funny, but they give lots of rep for killing things and they have several repeatable quests. I find it odd that they don’t take my gold. They want these silly little things called Glowcap Mushrooms instead. I killed dozens of their marsh tormentors and found lots of Mature Spore Sacs to make them like me, and then the little buggers wanted mushrooms! How rude.

Basically, I was killing everything in sight in that area of Zangarmarsh, even the non-aggressive Spore Bats to get Fertile Spores. I really like that you can have 3 repeatable turn-ins for rep. I’ve never, ever, ever just stayed in an area and killed stuff to gain rep before. I really want a few of the things that they offer, there aren’t any Alliance around, and I’m getting 1,300xp per kill in the process. Here is a look at Deadr’s current rep list for Outland:

Ding 28; Bloodr Is In Ashenvale

I hit 28 last night after about 15 minutes of killing satyrs in Ashenvale. I had already turned in the Satyr Horn quest, so this was purely for XP. I didn’t have the gumption to go quest anything with her because I just wanted to hit 28 and get on Deadr for the night.

I’m putting out about 80-95 dps right now and things fall fast. It was pretty easy to take on 2-3 of them at a time because Catr has plenty of armor. Now that I’ve recently dinged, I’m going to go out and look to train several new pets for their ablities, although I have the feeling I’ll keep Catr until I can find a great elite pet that suits me.

Any favorite pre-Sin’dal elite pets out there? Grimr is still hemming and hawing about getting to King Bag to tame him.
