Ding 56, Deathclasp Goes Down With a Surprise

January 23, 2007 By Gitr 6 Comments

I have to show you the screenshots to believe how I got to complete the Deathclasp quest and picking up the satchel. I uploaded my profile, so it is available as soon as RPG puts it through.

My action started off with heading South out of Cenarian Hold to go after the other quest items from the various exoskeletal buggers around. I got my last 6 drops after about 25 kills, and turned them in. On my way back out to see about what level the mobs for the quest to free the spirits of 8 Tortured Druids and 8 Tortured Sentinels in Southwind Village were (The Spirits of Southwind [55]), I saw Kamaz again.

This time, I tried to communicate a little better than waving and not whacking each other. I read somewhere that you can read opposing text by putting in spaces. I got him to follow me, but I’m not sure he ever understood that he could talk back.

Once we got to Deathclasp, he said /thank and we started in on him and his 2 bodyguards. After we killed him the first time, we were soon joined by another Alliance rogue who was probably wondering what the heck was going on. An Alliance and Horde team killing a level 59 Elite? NO!!! Yes, my friends, it happened. Several times. [Read more…] about Ding 56, Deathclasp Goes Down With a Surprise

One Hour from Level 56, Questing in Silithus

January 23, 2007 By Gitr 1 Comment

I had quite a time last night questing in Silithus. It brought back memories of old. Here are some old posts, from back when I really couldn’t tell a story. I checked the date, and Gitr dinged 57 in my January 26th post last year. I will get Deadr to 56 tonight after 1 hour of play at the rate I have been going at. To help my timetable, I stayed in the inn at Cenarian Hold to maximize killing time after American Idol.

Heinz 57 anyone?
Gitr’s getting attuned
The rest of the story …

I won’t likely be getting attuned any time soon, but I should be pressing for 57 and 58 harder than Gitr did because I can kill bigger things than he could. His approach was to kill lots of things 2 levels lower, while Deadr is going after 3-5 levels higher. It really doesn’t take that much more mana, so why not? 🙂    [Read more…] about One Hour from Level 56, Questing in Silithus

WordPress 2.1 – Ella

January 23, 2007 By Gitr 6 Comments

I logged in this morning to a new suprise: Ella. It looks like Matt and crew have been busy, with 2 updates in about a week. I seems like yesterday that I installed 2.0.7. Here’s the install notes from WordPress.org.

EDIT #1: I have noticed that my blogroll is gone. They changed the command to pull links, which isn’t the problem. The problem is that they also tossed the table control we had over the list so that I have no choice but to display the category name and recreate all my heading styles because I don’t want gray, underlined category headings. Until they release a fix, my blogroll is down, because I spent days getting it the way I wanted it the first time.

EDIT #2: I bit the bullet and spent 15 minutes with my stylesheet to get the color and overlapping fixed. The blogroll is back up. I’ll figure out a way to get them in the order I want, but I refuse to use numbers…for now.

Does This Sound Like Anyone You Know?

January 22, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

My co-worker went on several rants today about another of our co-workers who is becoming more and more inept as time passes. At our morning status meeting it became clear that everyone else in the department was working in one way or another to clean up this other person’s past screw-ups.

Here is my cube-mate’s wonderful Post-It about her:

Dumber than a:
Box of Hammers…
A Bag of Rocks…
A Pile of Dirt…
An Amoeba…
The List Is Endless.

To bring this into some aspect of WoW, do you have any good stories of dumb questions of people who shouldn’t be 60s? There are thousands of people running around Outlands asking where to turn in quests and what do they need to kill and “where is the auction hall?” What are your stories?

PvP Servers and TBC Competition

January 22, 2007 By Gitr 4 Comments

Since Gitr is on a PvE server, I have had no problem with Faction quarrels while in Outlands. I don’t have my flag up, so I’m free to roam and quest without fear of a gang-up or ganking. Deadr, however is not going to be so lucky. Couple that with his getting to Outlands late, as everyone will be 62-65+ when Deadr hits 58, I have a feeling I will be in for a rocky start.

What have been your PvP experiences in Outlands? Has the LFG system been working for you to group up when your guildies are busy so you have a buddy to keep you protected? Inquiring minds want to know.

A Third of the Way Through 55

January 22, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

I ran all around kingdom come last night and turned in some quests and picked up some quests along the way. I went to Undercity to fly to Hammerfall to hit 300 First Aid, as Rhone handed me 2 more stacks of Runecloth to help. I hit 300 and flew to Tarren Mill to ride to Light’s Hope Chapel. That was a totally eventless ride.

Then I hearthed to Orgrimmar to fly to Winterspring and ride through Timbermaw Hold to get to Moonglade. I had 2 turn-ins there, and then it was off to Un’Goro to get to Silithus. I arrived in Silithus and picked up 2 kill quests and logged off for the night. After someone in guild chat spoiled the ending of the Patriots Colts game that I was taping on the DVR to watch the second half this morning. Monkey.

I got on this morning and ran out of the inn at Cenarian Hold and ran off to kill some Dredge Strikers and other varmin that I remember have incredibly poor drop rates. After 30 minutes, I had my 15 Strikers and 2 drops that I needed. I turned in the Striker quest and picked up the Dredge Crusher quest. I ran back out and killed 2 Crushers before I decided that it is better to make money to pay the bills than play a game, and left early for work. I am right on the cusp of 30% and have 100k rest XP. After work today and during the night tonight, that should be enough rest to get me through this level with double XP all the way.

I’m feeling pretty stinking powerful right now, and I think that is a major part in wanting to level Deadr to take him to Outlands over playing Gitr. Gitr doesn’t feel powerful. Sure he’s got the armor and HP to take a beating, but I can do things with Deadr that Gitr drools over, and I’ve only got 10 1/2 days of playtime and 55 levels so far. Deadr has 4500 MP, unbuffed, and can take down level 60s with 40-60% mana left. It’s a real trip to lay waste to an area like that. I finally found a Devout Belt on the AH last night, so I bought it for 9g and got the Armor bonus.
