Gitr’s New Project: The Weird News Daily

January 18, 2007 By Gitr 2 Comments

Hey, everyone. I have been working off and on since December on a new site. Before I continue with it, I was hoping to get some feedback on the feel and legality of it. I have noticed many, many news sites have weird news sections, and they are actually pulling down the whole AP wire or something of the sort. I figured that I would need permission of some sort to do that, so I determined my best bet was to summarize the stories, add a bit of humor, and put a direct link to the entire story.

If my faithful readers deem it to be worthy of a readership too, I will put some more daily effort into it and really build it into something I have done here. I have a Feedburner account set up for it for subscriptions, so I won’t just be going based on hits.

Any positive/negative comments/flames welcome. Please lend me a hand here. I’ve got it listed in MyBlogLog, too.

The Weird News Daily

Thanks a ton.

TBC Greens Are Better Than Your Blues

January 18, 2007 By Gitr 5 Comments

If there is one reason to buy the expansion, then let me just say the loot is awesome! Forget that you can level up. Forget new dungeons. Spend a few hours doing quests and then go back and play your old dungeons with new vigor. Not that you will wantย to go back there or forget about leveling or playing new instances, but you do have that option. ๐Ÿ™‚ย

I haven’t quite finished processing the graphics yet, but I finished 2 quests this morning before work. In both cases, the reward was better than Strat/Scholo/UBRS/LBRS blues. How many of us ran UBRS 70 times trying to get the Dal’Rend set, or the chestpiece from Drakk?

This loot is disgusting (* denotes what I chose): [Read more…] about TBC Greens Are Better Than Your Blues

How Long Can You Play At One Time?

January 17, 2007 By Gitr 7 Comments

What is the longest you have played a game, any game in one stretch? I’m not talking about not going to sleep or going to get some lunch, I’m talking about how many days have you done nothing but played the computer, console, or other game system because of vacation, school break, sickness, etc.?ย ย

EDIT: While these are cool…I mean in one sitting folks. Anyone can play a game for a year. How many can not go to work, school, grocery store, or anywhere important or fun for a year? I’m talking 1-14 days here…so what is it, really? [Read more…] about How Long Can You Play At One Time?

Recap of TBC and Gitr’s First Impressions

January 17, 2007 By Gitr 4 Comments

I had a blast last night, unlike I have had in-game in many many moons. When I got home, I made sure I had enough HD space on the game drive and made a backup copy of all my 2.0.1 patches on up, just in case the upgrade overwrote them. It doesn’t, by the way. I installed the latest drivers for my nVidia card after reading in the manual at work (I really didn’t want to be there after I picked up the game) that if the game ever locks up or restarts that you should update your drivers. It worked like a charm. No lockups for the first time in a month!

I got the 2.0.3 to 2.0.5 patch, which was only a 2MB download and got in-game. I quickly created Bloodr on Burning Legion and jumped ship to go play Gitr on Kargath. I ran through the portal and was presented with a huge staircase leading down to a gigantic ?? level monstrosity at the bottom of the stairs. Instead of trying to kick his butt, I went to the left to turn in my quest that I picked up outside the portal, accepted a new quest from the Flightmaster, and hopped on a grif to Honor Hold.

Once I landed, I made my way around following little golden dots on my minimap to get and complete little quests around the hold. [Read more…] about Recap of TBC and Gitr’s First Impressions

No Collector’s Edition for Gitr

January 16, 2007 By Gitr 1 Comment

Apparently my local Best Buy only had reserved copies available, and I was unwilling to actually spend any money on the expansion, sooooo I had to settle for the regular version. I’m bummed, yes, but still satisfied that I’m a responsible member of society and meeting the family budget at the same time.

I am pretty sure I was the only person at my store that was going to work today. I left work shortly after 9:00 and really had no need to stand in line since there weren’t any CE copies. They ordered 300 extra regular version for the shelves, so showing up during lunch break would have been fine. :/

I’ll be getting off at 3:30 to go play. ๐Ÿ™‚ Gitr is standing on the steps of the portal with his Nethergarde Bitter, all ready for walking right through.

I will also be rolling a new Blood Elf, with class pending what the racials are. It is too difficult to find that information at work from behind this firewall. Any guesses as to the name?
