I Have You Where I Want You

December 15, 2006 By Gitr 7 Comments

I have something I want to say, and now I have an audience who will, hopefully, listen. This has nothing to do with World of Warcraft, so if a post about life, the universe, and everything will bore you, feel free to read my previous post: 44 and Counting.

Part of my then-fiance’s pre-marital counseling with our pastor included a personality profile and a temperment profile. After getting the results back, I was clearly marked as hostile, argumentative, inhibited, and insensitive. Those sound pretty bad, but it is really only that the opposites of those are so sweet, to be completely opposite of my traits is not really desirable, either. Anyway, he pretty much insisted that I get some professional help with my personality before we got married, just so I would be a better person.

That is the background, now for my insight on what counseling has revealed to me. I hate people. [Read more…] about I Have You Where I Want You

44 and Counting

December 15, 2006 By Gitr 3 Comments

I got my Shadoweave set when I logged in after work. It was just sitting there in my inbox like a present. Then I turned in a couple of quests that took me to 80%. I got back on around 8pm and turned in another to get to 85% and decided to grind it out. I went to Tanaris to pick up the quest involving digging up the 30 ornaments. I have 4 already and fought my way through crowds of 45s to ding just before 9pm. I hearthed and trained. I will probably go back tonight and also see if anyone wants a level 44 priest for ZF. Probably not, but it is worth a try.

I have a ton of quests to go for STV and I have several Elite quests. This morning I tried 3 times to kill King Bangalesh. I just can’t do it without some potions or elixirs. The first time, I got him going pretty good until his backups came. When I ran back to rez, I noticed that his help were only level 33 non-elites. I figured, no problem. I put Corruption on one and King, and Pain on the other helper. I took down the one that would heal me as I hit him, and things were going along fine that way. I took down the other one in the same fashion, healing as I dealt damage. When I was ready to take down King, I was out of mana to keep putting up my bubble. I died again. My next try, I got the two helpers down after King called them, but he took down my bubble on a greater heal that was supposed to save my life, so I died. Time to go shopping or get some enchants on my stuff.

What Keeps a Guild ‘Casual?’

December 14, 2006 By Gitr 2 Comments

We are having a Loot/Attendance/Expansion discussion in Core on our forums. Graytail made a very good point today:

We are a casual guild with a population including some leaning more towards serious raiding–which is great for synergy.  At some point however, conversations on this thread make it sound like we are moving away from being a casual guild–correct me if I am wrong.  I /agree with Janick’s previous comments of don’t equate a non 100% attendance rate as a lack of dedication to the guild or its players.

I replied with the following:  [Read more…] about What Keeps a Guild ‘Casual?’

Uldaman Down

December 14, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I finally used the LFM last night. I got Wakarathe, a guildie 60 mage, to join me and I found a husband/wife duo of 45s rogue and shaman to join us. We went in the back door and cleaned out the entire instance with no deaths, thanks to Klik. I was back in the saddle again, and I healed in the highest instance yet.

After we took out the big stone woman in the map room, I got her blue cloth leggings, went into her chamber and my computer completely locked. [Read more…] about Uldaman Down

Blog$hares Is a Fun Fantasy Stock Market

December 14, 2006 By Gitr Leave a Comment

I joined BlogShares in January, and it has been pretty fun, especially if you can do it when things are slow at work. I started out with some trading here and there with my Blog Dollars (B$). I know, I know, that sure looks like BS, to some, and I think that is some of the appeal. After 4 days, I was hooked and added my blog and signed up for the Premium account.

I have a system down where I buy a ton of blogs and put them in a folder waiting for the cooldown period to end, and then move them into a Selling folder as I sell them a bit at a time, waiting for their P/E ratio to increase. It is really more of a science than an art, but people can throw monkey wrenches into your plans.

Everyone with enough money, chips, and karma can use things called Artifacts that create effects on other blogs. They can do things such as double/half the share price, elbow in to get some shares, buy out everyone, etc.

If you have a blog, or if you just want to have fun acting like a day trader without any risk, give it a go.

If you sign up, leave a comment or e-mail me, and I will send you 200 shares of Gitr’s WoW Blog, currently valued at B$365, until I get low on my own shares.

Exponential Growth in Visits

December 13, 2006 By Gitr 5 Comments

It seems that Gitr’s WoW Blog is experiencing exponential growth right now. As of today, the blog has over 200 more visits this month than in all of October. November was really crazy because of a link from Tobold’s blog that put me on the map for two wild days of clicking away.

This is nothing like the growth that DM Osbon has had. His blog is very young, yet on December 6th, he had 8,500 hits! He has been averaging about 500 hits per day, so he is offering people what they want, evidenced in his visitors coming from direct bookmarks, not searches. Congrats, DM Osbon!
