Post Pending Later This Morning

March 5, 2007 By Gitr 3 Comments

It’s going to be a crazy morning at work. I’ve got a presentation with my boss’ boss and possibly the VP today to show off my database and its use and value to the Company. I’m working furiously to complete the hacked switchboards I made (over 200 buttons with queries, reports, exporting, and hyperlinked HTML files) so that it ALL works in case one of them wants to drive and I can’t control what gets clicked on.

I had a great weekend and hit 63 with Deadr and am rocking the realm with Netherweave bags to the tune of 400g. I’ll post more after 10:00 Eastern after the meeting.

Ways to Handle Beggars

March 3, 2007 By Gitr 10 Comments

I figured out a brilliant (IMHO) way to get rid of a beggar in a major city. I was crafting at the time when a level 13 rogue came up to me and asked if I could spare some change. I waiting until I was done crafting, /sat, and /afk’d. LOL. It took him about 2 seconds to turn away and run to the next 60+ to ask for money.

I relayed this incident to my wife, and she was astonished that “there are bums in WoW.” She doesn’t get it. Along the lines with people paying to get power leveled while they are at work, she doesn’t understand why someone would play to not play. If you are playing, why would you not want to get your own stuff? Her best quote was, “it’s not like they are homeless, right?” I followed that up with, “and I’ll bet their fingers aren’t broken.”

What do you do when you get a whisper and they are standing right there watching you?

Considering a New Build: Disc/Shadow

March 2, 2007 By Gitr 5 Comments

After listening to the WoWPodcast episode about priests today (3 times), I have decided to add a few Discipline talents to my bag of tricks. I spent enough time looking at all of the options, I think I have a good balance between damage, mana-regen/conservation, and casting ability while under attack.

Here is how it breaks down, and then I’ll explain my reasoning on Monday after playing with it for a while. Of course, this is a level 70 build, so mine will be missing 8 points for now.

Idol Predictions: 75% Accurate

March 2, 2007 By Gitr Leave a Comment

According to yesterday’s post, American Idol: Week 2 Womenโ€™s Night, I was 3 of 4 on my guesses for those getting voted off.

It is becoming quite clear that this season is more about being popular than being a good (or great) singer with some of the ones that really are not up to snuff.

I believe that both A.J. was better than Brandon and Sanjaya just plain sucked worse than all of them Tuesday night. He had no power, no presence, but he did stand out. Like Simon says, [Read more…] about Idol Predictions: 75% Accurate

Venturing Out In Terrokar Forest; Tailoring=$$$

March 2, 2007 By Gitr 18 Comments

I got on Bloodr again last night to find the two places I wanted to go to turn in quests and do some more of them were still being camped by high-level Alliance players. /sigh. So Deadr went and made a ton of gold. In the process, he spent a lot, too.

I started yesterday morning getting the quest for getting the two Eyes of Veil, but hadn’t ventured out to do so. I got to the location after work and got one of them, but I still need to get the Eye of Shienor in the treehouse on the East side. During that stint, I lit the 3 Altars and got 14/30 of the feathers from the guys guarding the eyes and about a stack of Netherweave cloth (yay for saving 5g!).

I went to UC to play the AH to get cloth and such to make more bags. After 9 bags sold right after posting them, I repeated the process, but made 5 Netherweave Boots so I could get some more skill points and got to 245.

This morning, all of the bags had sold and I went in to buy more. One of the sellers /w me and said “buy them ALL!” LOL. He was saving for an epic flying mount. I told him “I just bought 80g…have a nice day.” I took the translocator to Silvermoon to use the Mana Loom in the Bazaar and made my first Imbued Netherweave Bag and 11 more Netherweave Bags. That should be about 130g when I get home.

There doesn’t seem to be an end to the bag market any time soon, because [Read more…] about Venturing Out In Terrokar Forest; Tailoring=$$$

What Great Bosses Are All About

March 1, 2007 By Gitr 4 Comments

I’ve said before that I have an incredible boss. She has 2 MBAs and finished her undergrad in 3 years and has 20 years of management experience. I honestly can’t say enough about her skill and tact with us and her tenacity with upper management and her willingness to go to bat for our needs.

That said, we had a major re-organization yesterday that left her counterpart with 1/4 of his underlings and almost tripled my boss’ staff. I know she will do great, as usual, but I can’t help but think that she should sent this around for our new co-workers to read: Note From Boss To Employees. The link leads to Execupundit.com, but I discovered it from Seth Godin’s blog.

Every HR department in the world should give people access to these fine tips for getting along at work.
